  1. That's almost unbelievabable, lol. I wouldnt buy from them either if thats the way they operate. I get great customer service from Philip at Goodlettsville Gun Shop, and Guns & Leather is pretty good too, when they aint so busy, lol.
  2. I agree with all of the above...but despite my respect for the military and police authorities, I suspect that both will simply follow orders at least at first...there may come a time when they balk, but MUCH dfamage will have been done by then...I lived in Germany for quite a while and I know many germans very well, and I have a theory about how the Nazis were so successful...Those people, for the most part are a VERY law abiding people...they follow the rules...they sept the Nazis into power at a time when the country was devastated and in chaos...the nazis were the salvation, according to Hitler...then, as they took power...they began changing the rules, or laws...the ones that were unpleasant to the Germans were kept a blind eye to...things got out of hand before the populace had a chance to resist, then it was too late....I have read much about the Nazis and the way they took over...read up on it, read up on their ideas, ideals and p-rograms...they sound VERY much like the current govt we have...or the one they want to become...don't take my word for it, look it up yourselves...there are MANY books out right now that factually document all of what I am saying...people its time to beware...if we dont vote these guys out soon, we won't be able to get them out...
  3. I used to have a airwieght Taurus 38 that I pocket carried in a pocket holster...it was ok in some pants but others had too shallow a pocket to be comfy...now I either pocket carry a Keltec PF-9 or a Keltec P3-AT, depending on what Im wearing. Although I like the firepower of the PF-9 much better, if its a BUG Im carrying, I usually opt for the .380 P3-AT as I usually also have my Glock 30 as primary. I don't like firing either of the keltecs as they are very harsh in the hand and not terrible accurate, but they work for concealment and for short ranges. There are times I also opt for a taurus 9mm Mil Pro as BUG or a FEG 380, which ios very similar to the Walther..
  4. That was awesome!
  5. That was expected though, wasn't it? My understanding was that one state or another, probably Montana or Texas if not us, would have a case that goes through the court system, perhaps to the US Supreme Court.
  6. I went to Red Lobster in Rivergate. Was not posted and I looked closely. Took my roscoe out and layed it on the table to insure I'd get good service! Never had a problem! The shrimp was delicious! (Kidding about putting it on the table, of course! I believe in concealed carry. )

    Job leads?

My job iinvolves helping military veterans find jobs. I've been doing that for about 12 years now...it's never been harder. The jobs that are out there seem to be paying less and less and requiring much more in the way of qualifications...we seem to be exporting jobs...and all these new welfare programs and green endeavors like cap and trade are absolutely going to result in higher taxes...and higher everything else...maybe for all of us, but even if its just the wealthier...who do you think owns the business? if they are paying higher taxes and higher helathcare premiums...they sure won't be hiring...when are people going to wake up?
  8. And all this time I was thinking Walmart sold those ball caps with the bills on the side or back...hmmm...LOL Dunno bout the thugs as I go early...but there are always a few NON dealers walking or standing around trying to sell a gun...not that thats a bad thing, but they dont run a check I reckon...
  9. There's a pretty interesting book that has been around for a few years, called, "Stolen Valor." Its about these kinds of people who claim to be war heroes, special forces, seals, etc...many were not ever stationed anywhere near a war,, some were but were not in combat, and some weren't even in the military.
  10. A friend of mine got one recently and converted it. i got to shoot it a couple weeks ago. I loved it. Got some kick to it, bit seemed to be accurate and deadly. Only drawback to me was the cost and the magazines cost. But worth it? heck yeah!
  11. My renewal application has been in for a little over a month. Thought I'd give them a call to check on status. VERY nice lady answered the phone. She told me that June's b/g checks probably won't run until September for renewals. She said the initial permits apps run quicker because they run the fingerprints. She said the renewals use in house b/g checks through TBI and she said they have been overwhelmed and are way behind. Heck of a way to run a railroad, but I also work for the State, and I know they typically decrease the number of employees and expect the remaining staff to be able to handle the workload. Frankly, I'm surprised that the staff there are so nice, lol. I can only imagine the workload and pressure they are under right now. Still, I'm the kind that will fret and worry until I get my renewal in the mail, lol.

    Advice on 45 carry

    I like my G-30, but I think I want to get a 21.
  13. I've been increasing my stock lately so I was thinking of coming up with an Excel spreadsheet to help me keep track...but not being an excel pro, I know it will cost me some time to do, lol. If anyone already has one to share, I'd love to see it.
  14. From reading these and other posts, it seems that some think there is a correlation to calling to check on permits and then receiving it? haven't called to check on mine as its only been a month since I did the renewal at the Hart Road ;ocation, but maynbe next week i will call and check. My permit doesnt expire until October, but the sooner I get it the better, lol.
  15. THREE months? Dang...I was hoping that a renewal would be way quicker than that. I did mine the first week of June...still waiting and apparently I have quite a bit of waiting left...:-( Cant remember how long I waited back on my first one...I was in the initial crowd that applied with the local law enforcement...then the State got tired of the locals jerking all of us around, dragging their feet and made it a DOS issue...took almost a year the very first one...

    FNH 5-7

Well, I've been lusting after one, lol. I saw one at a local gun shop, liked it, and now a friend of mine bought one. I had a chance to fire it friday and I loved it. It's a lightweigt semi auto pistol, fires the 5.7 X 28mm round, and comes with 3 mags, each holding 20 rounds! Seems VERY accurate and was very easy to aim and fire. I saw ammo for it at the gun show in Smyrna on Saturday going for 21.99 for 50 rounds. Now the bad news....it's expensive. prtobably around 1000. The gun show had one of the original ones on sale for 2000, but thats a collectors gun. Locally Ive seen them from 850 used to a about 1100 or so new.
  17. I put about 30 .45ACP thru my G-30, about the same thru my PT-111 and PF9, and about 20 thru my P-3AT. Shot about 20 rounds thru my friends FN FiveSeveN. LOVE that gun, lol, I may just have to get me one.
  18. I just finished a really good book by Jonah Goldberg, named, Liberal Fascism. It was a real eye opener. Seems very familiar to what is happening now in our country. It this country, the liberal fascist trend probably started under Wilson, or perhaps even Teddy Roosevelt, intensified under Franklin Roosevelt, and is now stronger than ever under Obama. People better wake up soon or it will be too late!
  19. Thanks guys for the input, and for the link to a previous discussion here. Still havent made up my mind yet, but Im a ways off til I can afford my next gun anyways...but I like to pick my next one out way in advance so that my lusting after it motivates me to hurry up and afford it, lol.

    FN FiveSeven

I saw a new gun the other day at the gun store that has me lusting after it. Does anyone know much about the FN FiveSeven?
  21. I help military veterans find jobs and work with private employers to facilitate them hiring vets. Edited to add that I am retired from the USAF.
  22. I have a Taurus Millenium Pro 9mm gen III, and I have also had problems. Tried many but none of the stock kydex fit. Leather and nylon is a different story. Take it to one of the local gun shops and try a few out.
  23. My job is helping military veterans find jobs. The advice to go into the military is sound, in my opinion. Just be careful and do it with much thought and consideration as to the field and branch you select. Combat arms may be where its at while IN the military, but there is limited demand for that kind of work in the civilian world outside of police work. There is some, but it is limited unless you want to go back overseas. Having said that, the skills and confidence one would pick up in that kind of field will always pay great dividends. One huge benefit to going in now is the educational one. The new Post 911 GI Bill is far superior to anything that we have ever had before. Get online and look at it. I retired in 93 and went to college full time and the then GI Bill was sufficient to pay my tuition. The new one does even more. In my job I deal with all sorts of veterans, but the ones that I feel best about are the ones that learned a trade in the military...I have many drivers, welders, electricians, clerks, cooks, electronics techs, mechanics, you name it, that had never done that kind of work until the military taught them how. Now they have a TRADE. Many do that for the rest of their lives. If you are internet savvy, get online and look at Welcome - Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development You can look at the fields that are projected to grow in the next few years, and even longer.
  24. Thanks a bunch. Most State facilities that I have seen are simply posted with that sign I mentioned in my other post, not the one stipulated by law. I was afraid there was something I may have missed. I appreciate you clearing this up for me.
  25. I read about this some time ago and wrote a few e-mails. Sen Corker actually e-mailed me back and reiterated his opposition to this treaty in particular and to anti 2nd Amendment bills in general.
