1. I'm trying to learn about mods top the Saiga 12, and I would appreciate any help from those who know...as i understand it, the Saiga is manufactured with a folding and/or collapsible stock, a pistol grip, and a trigger that is in a more forward  position, but in order to meet the ATF's "sporting Use"  rules, certain modifications are made prior to importation into the US,  specifically, installing a fixed stock, removing the pistol grip and moving the trigger to the rear.   From what Ive read, it seems to me that there are two general methods of  :"converting" the Saiga.  One way is to just add a pistol grip/stock assembly and nothing else except maybe the forend grip.  The other involves moving the trigger as well to the original position on the receiver.  Moving the trigger supposedly removes some alleged problems with the trigger.   What do y'all think of all this?  Which way do you recommend and why?  Also, are there any kits in particular that you recommend?  Thanks in advance, TGO, for your, as always, expert help!
2. Those are an idea...
3. I think it would too, but sadly, Im not ready to buy yet...though I will keep those in mind for when I am ready...thanks!
4. I've developed an interest in ..22 WMR rifles since I got my Keltec PMR-30 last year. I like the idea and looks of the Keltec RMR--30 carbine, and their magazine compatibility with the PMR-30, but like many things Keltec, they just aren't available. Also a fan of Ruger 10/22s, and wish they still made the ..22 WMR version of those! What ..22 WMR rifles or carbines do you recommend? I prefer semi auto magazine fed, but other than that, I dunno. I'm not ready to buy yet but I want to start my research now so I can start looking once I decide what I want. Thanks for you input, TGO!
5. The fact that there are only 9 comments after his article on this site leads me to believe he is his own biggest fan, lol, with not much of a following.
6. Ditto!  But in my case a complyetr waste of time.  Doubt Ill go back...OMG saw a Keltec PLR16 for 1400,.
7. Well, probably what REALLY happened was the ammo was on the shelf when the innocent shopper walked by and it spontaneously discharged and tried to kill him. If not that, then a gun on the other shelf loaded itself and attacked as they are prone to do.   This is typical and a known fact that ammo and/or guns regularly try to kill people.
8. I would look at pre-positioning as much stuff as you can at his place in advance, and pack what you need to get you there...might make for a lighter load, or enable you to have more when you get there...
9. I've had a FNP45 for a few years now.  It’s a hog, and sometimes I try carrying something smaller, but I always go back to the FN.  15+1 rounds of .45acp ready to go is very reassuring, lol.  Mine is the USG model and can be carried round in chamber. either decocked (first shot - double action) or cocked and locked and on safe(single action), like a 1911.  I have shot a variety of ammo through it and it is very hungry and eats anything so far.  Yeah is heavy, but honestly, it’s close to the same weight with 16 rounds in it as my full size 1911 is with 8 rounds.  Guess the polymer makes a difference, lol. Mine has a rail...Its kinda thick for concealed carry, but I seem to get away with it OWB at 330ish position.  Mine has a rail I don’t use.  Only thing I want to do is put some better sights on it.  It came with plain white dot sights, and I either want some kind of fiber optic or night sights to help my tired old eyes!  Mine bought before the FNX or FNS series...when I got it there were 2 of their 45s available.  One was I think the FN-45, which came with 3 14 round mags and only has a decocker, no safety, and the FN-45USG which came with one 15 round and 2 14 round mags and also a safety/decocker.  I liked the safety/decocker better because of its versatility in carry options.
10. I like those too.  Cant hardly wait for the journal sequel...
11. Does anyone read this one?  Its online in serial format and quite good, if you like the zombie scenarios.  Particularly impressive is the author's knowledge of firearms.  Check it out if you havent already:  http://allensrepositoryofstuff.com/author/allensrepositoryofstuff/
12. NRA sure has its shortcomings, but overall, the sheer amount of money they are able to throw at the gun rights issue has to help some.  Do they always get it right? Of course not.  Mistakes are made.  Overall, I think they are a worthwhile organization.  Thats not to say that there are not other viable ones as well.  I am a life member.  I want to join the TFA soon so as to get more local (TN) help.
13. Sheesh, 139.95 at Amazon?
14. I have had the same problem with some mags. ANd with some the mag doesnt rattle until I get the last round in, then it will rattle...
15.
I usually carry a g26 iwb with a Kholster (crossbreed type holster). I'm 6', 290 lbs, so I'm not small (har har). The other day I decided to try carrying my full size 1911 OWB with a cheap nylon holster of some type, and it was WAY more comfortable than my G26 has ever been IWB. I usually wear jeans and a button down untucked if I'm carrying, so I didn't change my dress at all, and I was well concealed. I've now ordered an OWB for my G26 so I can start trying that. Honestly I need to lose some weight, but until that happens I'll probably start carrying OWB more than IWB. (I also ordered one for my G21, which I think is gonna work well). edit: forgot to mention, I also keep a Ruger LCP in my front pocket no matter what else I may be carrying.
As a big guy, I also prefer OWB holsters. I have found that the Don Hume 721OT works great for me. I have those for my 1911s, and also for my EDC, a FNP-45. It has a sweat guard or slide guard as some call it and is very comfortable. Mine are black leather. The FN 45 is a BIG gun, and with a good belt, its very comfortable and I wear a oversize untucked shirt that usually covers it.
16.
this thread is racist.
...and its George Bush's fault!
17. I have a 14 year old daughter in Davidson county schools. It's a constant battle to keep her from being indoctrinated. I had a yard sign for Romney and she even was concerned about her friends on the school bus seeing it! She loves pop music and that's yet another attack on values when her favorite singers endorsed Obama...I have to sit her down regularly to talk about this stuff. One argument I use is the one about how I'm gonna take part of her allowance that she works for and give it to the "poor" kids who won't work for their allowance. That seems to help , lol.
18. A bite at a time..these mass shootings just help inch things along...
19. This was a very nice thing to do. Even tho I didn't win, I still thank you!
20. One thing I don't understand is the apparent double standard that exists in these issues...the Confederate flag is perceived as racist by many...as would be any references to white magazines, beauty pageants, magazines, tv channels/shows, college funds, etc...yet calling those same things BLACK seems to be just fine. What about all the black racist things you see in public everywhewre, why is that ok? Last year I saw a black lady on a new show, cant remember which, but they were talking about racism, and she she was asked if something or other was racist, and she replied, "NO! Blacks cant be racist, only whites." I just don't understand how that works. I also like that flag. Its a symbol to me of my heritage. Years ago, I decided not to display it publicly because it just seemed to cause controversy, and I dont want to have to hurt someone over a flag. I accepted that perception sometimes is important.
21. I carry a iTp SA2 Eluma (2X AA) in a belt pouch and a Fenix TK-15 (2XCR123A) in my EDC Bag. Both have high/low and strobe functions. The iTp is about 190 lumens on high nd the Fenix is 400. Both great lights but the fenix is a bigger tube .
22. That's just plain mean! lol
