  1. The price was listed as $509 delivered (The text said “reduced to $475 delivered to your FFLâ€), but during check-out that tuned into $530.27. I want the handguard before I even shoot it. But I think I’ll wait to make sure it is on its way before ordering. How long was delivery on your handguard? Did you order it from Kel-Tec?
  2. Well... no one local had them so I ordered from Buds. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them; Guess I’ll find out firsthand.
  3. They are a “Special Groupâ€. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any group that deserves special privileges more than active duty volunteers. As opposed to the magnificent training you get in a carry class?? We have all seen the people or heard the stories of those that can’t pass the shooting qualification but get their permit anyway. I say play the Federal trump card and tell the state to go pound sand. The same way they did with the LEOSA. I think you would be hard pressed to find a range owner that would turn away active duty military because of their age.
  4. Thanks, I’ll give them a call. I’ve been watching GB, I may have to go that route. Those marked up guns aren’t even getting any bids. The highest that has sold is $549 and the lowest in $405. I was hoping to get one from a local dealer; I don’t want to mess with the transfer but I might have to do that.
  5. These are lighter rounds to get more range out of the lever guns. It doesn’t appear to me that they have an advantage over 158 Gr JHP for revolvers. Fill me in??? What did they cost?
  6. Well, obviously you make a valid point, as I said our legislators feel the same way you do. But me…. I read the following somewhere, I don’t remember exactly where but maybe you have seen it. If they are old enough to write that check…. They are part of a special group and get special privileges. They are far more special than a group of 21 year olds that sit on their hands and their claim to fame is they haven’t been arrested and went to a range for 8 hours of smoking and joking. But our state legislators don’t see it that way and our Federal legislators don’t have the sack to stand up for their boys. Yes.... I understand it.
  7. No loaded guns and no loaded magazines. Unloaded, in the trunk and you are okay.
  8. Sorry to hear the Navy's training has went to crap. No one knows what they will do until it happens. I had been in the military and had two honorable discharges and didn’t know what I would do when I was shot at; until it happened to me as a cop on the streets. Do you know what you will do? Do you think you are prepared to live through it?
  9. Well… as you can see the state legislators agree with you. On the other hand… it has been a long time since I was in the service, but that “Galley Rat†on a ship was required to have small arms training. Has that changed? Are you implying that the Tennessee carry classes are in any way shape or form close to that of military training? I think this is one time where the Feds need to trump state law. Anyone qualified for combat should not even be required to have a carry permit in states that allow carry. A LEO or a retired LEO from another state is not required to have a Tennessee carry permit. I worked with a bunch of military guys (both Navy and Marines) that were under 21 but were mature enough to carry firearms. If they aren’t they have no business being in the military.
  10. Thanks They don’t have any and he didn’t sound real optimistic about being able to get one.
  11. See those guys over there would have known that… A carry permit does not cover class III weapons, so if you tell them what you have and how and where you want to transport it; they will fill you in. Good luck.
  12. This is just a WAG, but I would say demand. It’s just a shotgun barrel; it’s not like it needs to be crowned or squared up to be threaded. Would you pay $200 for a barrel when you can cut yours off in a vise with a hack saw? Of course it may be that the ATF either forbids it or wants a cut….
  13. What’s a DD? I could care less where you post your question, but there is a Class III section. You might do better there. Welcome to the forum.
  14. I don’t have any info to offer on scanners; but if you are going to get your amateur license, go ahead and get a radio now. You don’t need a license to buy a radio or listen on the amateur bands; just to transmit. The nice thing about amateur radio is that it is not dependent on a network. You are going to have Hams operating during an emergency. Who you can talk to or have far you can talk is directly related to how much money you have to spend.
  15. Good God man; get a grip. I apologize that I forgot to put one of these in… I went backed and fixed it.
  16. I guess it depends on the times and the service. Serving on an amphibious assault ship part of my job as a Mike Boat Engineer was to put a thousand marines on the beach. (Most under 21, all armed). I have never seen an accidental shooting or even an AD. I can understand your concern though being in the Air Force for 6 years. You probably didn’t figure out which end of the barrel the bullet came out until you got out; did you? I was a cop when the drinking age was both 19 and 21. I saw no marked difference. When it comes to doing ignorant stuff while you are drinking there is no age limitation. 18-80.
  17. The Feds can’t take away your permits or your guns. Your state legislators can. Don’t keep looking over your shoulder so much at Obama that you fail to keep your own house in order.
  18. In a modern rifle it makes no difference. (Based on your statements I’m assuming this is a fairly new Springfield M1A) If you had problems with .308 either it was the ammo or something is wrong with your rifle. However.. junk ammo is junk ammo no matter what the caliber. For range ammo I shoot Federal .308 Powershok from Wal-mart. It’s $12.99 for 20 rounds and its quality stuff. I don’t think you can order that quality at the same cost. As a matter of fact as soon as we can get together one of the forum reloaders and I are going to test this ammo against his reloads. Or you can do this when Dicks runs the ammo specials they ran last week…. 14.98 Winchester 150 GR. Power Point (X 3 boxes limit) 49.32 14.98 Remington 150 GR. Core-Lokt (X 2 boxes limit) 32.88 Total $82.20, $25 in mail in rebates = $57.20 for 100 rounds. Again… I can’t beat that online.
  19. I think I want a new PLR-16. Anyone in this area stock them?

    FTE Question

WWB is the really cheap stuff. You don’t want to shoot anything cheaper in a gun you want to keep. And you really can’t trouble shoot a FTE with anything cheaper. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with WWB, I use it for range ammo all the time. But anything cheaper is going to be really dirty or steel cased.
  21. Don’t they accept a U.S. Passport? I don’t remember using a birth certificate.

    S&W Model 29?

The round or the Model 29? Excellent condition shooters are bringing $600-$700. I don’t think that’s too bad considering 19’s and 66’s have went at or over $500.
  23. But he did tell you that, right? Tell him to go piss up a rope and report back here if he whips a big azz ticket on you. Just kidding, just kidding…. I have no idea.
  24. I whole heartedly agree and catch crap over it all the time. I have heard from so many young people that if we get in a jamb we will do the same things the Americans did in WWII. They don’t understand that we don’t have a couple of things they had back then; enough Patriots at home and a manufacturing base. I was just sick Wednesday after the election. A couple of young people in our office were saying “We Won! We Won!†I said out loud “I wonder what kind of conversations are going on in the boardrooms of corporate America right now?†One of them replied “Who cares.†Being a Patriot also means protecting your country’s economy. We obviously have fallen miserably short in that respect. Freedom isn’t free.
  25. I wanted to do that also. It’s my understanding that you can use a credit card, but then it takes about 10-14 days to get any money received because they have to mail you a check. I haven’t got around to doing it yet, but I should. PayPal is not secure (IMO), just too many horror stories.
