  1. One last blade before the New Year, tried to get it done sooner but had other ones to do. Nice hunter for sale D2 blade and Micarta scales, comes with nice leather sheath. $135 shipped. The blade steel is D2, cryo heat treated to 59-61Rc, I feel the cryogenic process really makes a difference in the grain structure resulting in smaller grain size, better toughness and a slight increase in hardness. Holds a good edge but takes a little more work to sharpen. Knife is 8 3/4' long with a 4 1/2" blade, 5/35 thick. Handle is black/green Micarta nicely contoured to fit the hand. Comes with a nice leather sheath which I make. All work is done by me. D2 is not a stainless steel so you need to wipe the blade clean and dry after use. I can say that a good D2 blade really holds its edge. We were lucky enough to shoot two bears the same weekend at our hunting camp and I skinned both of them without resharpening the knife. None of them were even mine!
  2. I have CMR30 and was also cursing it when I bought it, improperly loaded magazines seem to be the issue. I got a loader (maglula) and it works fine now. The rims overlap and doesn't let it feed properly. I'm in Maryville so a little far to let you try the loader. I know with the cost of ammo these days don't need to be wasting it or your time.
  3. LOL wanted to sleep in a bit today but my girl had the same idea as yours. Hopefully you have a great dog and a friend for life. This is Olivia.
  4. Merry Christmas to all and a safe and happy New Year
  5. rural king had some 9mm 115g for $19.99/50, off brand but worked fine for target use.

  7. My thanks to all who served this country.
  8. Anyone have any experience with this rifle? Been thinking about getting one to repel invaders.
  9. Holster from R. Grizzle, he makes a really nice product. This is a picture from when I bought it two years ago but it still looks like new and works perfectly, its my daily carry. Has a sweat shield.
  10. When I was a kid in shop class we were given rough cut pieces of steel 1 inch oversize. With a file and a square we had to make a 1" cube all sides being square to each other, that was our finals test. Its amazing what you can do by hand with a little ingenuity.
  11. The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter. They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge. Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away. It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat. Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.

  17. Nice hunter for sale D2 blade and Walnut scales, comes with nice leather sheath. $125 The blade steel is D2, cryo heat treated to 59-61Rc, I feel the cryogenic process really makes a difference in the grain structure resulting in smaller grain size, better toughness and a slight increase in hardness. Holds a good edge but takes a little more work to sharpen. Knife is 8 3/4' long with a 4 1/2" blade, 5/35 thick. Handle is locally sourced Black Walnut nicely contoured to fit the hand. Comes with a nice leather sheath which I make. All work is done by me in house, keeps me out of trouble!
  18. YOU WANT TO GET A WHAAT?? My brother had a Malinois he was a great dog his name was Frity but everyone called him Gator (from afar). He is very serious about working the dog. Dog was very smart did whatever my brother told him to do. All his commands were in Chinese, my brother is Irish. The problem was when he was not around. Bit the neighbors kid twice, (kid teased the dog) would go after just about anyone that came to the compound . He did love to play with my Mastiff, they knew each other since puppies. When he tired her out she would sit on him to make him stop.
  19. I've been there they have a nice selection, but this Walnut is from Everhard's in Tellico Plains. Do not go there with your wife unless you got a wad of cash in your pocket they have some really beautiful wood products, live edge, huge slabs made on site.
  20. I should have introduced my self last week but I was so happy to make a knife after two years got carried away. We are finally in our home in Maryville, moved in end of June and I started to set up my shop, still have some equipment to uncrate and electric to run. I was a machinist, tool maker, machine builder for 45+ years, did a lot of stuff with metal. Maybe 16 years ago sitting in hunting camp at night and my brother is asking me to fix a knife for him (gave it to someone to sharpen and they screwed it up). so I make him a new one, took a liking to it, and here we are! (Short version.) Been making knives ever since. Anyway greetings to all. Have a new hunting knife coming thought you might like to see some of the process. Gluing and pinning the handle scales on. Its D2 steel, good stuff, should be done next week if my wife doesn't make me do other things! I do knife sharpening also if any one needs that service. Giddy up!
  21. My apologies, did not mean to hijack your post if you said you had the mags would not have posted or PMd anyone. Point taken, I was just being up front about it again my apologies.
