  1. I was reading on TGO the other day about how much one round from a shotgun would spread at close range. I had a little free time today and decided to find out for myself. The following is a picture of a USPSA target shot at 15' with one round of Winchester 3" 00 Buck out of my Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" cylinder bore (no choke) barrel. As you can see, the pattern is MAYBE 6" wide. I knew that it wouldn't cover the whole target, (many believe a shotgun blast will cover a whole room) but even I was a bit suprised--I thought that the short barrel combined with no choke would have thrown a bigger pattern. BTW, the 3" Winchesters THUMP (on both ends).
  2. Wow, I didn't know we had that many Memphis members...
  3. but that was probably rigged...
  4. It just needs to say (in a deep, robotic voice): "You have 15 seconds to comply."
  5. I dindn't see the show, but I agree with some of the findings. Based on my own observations and experiences in the woods, I've never bought into the idea that deer are colorblind, and I've never thought that their hearing was as good as many think.
  6. Nope, wasn't me--I just got back from the Smoky Mountains. MemphisMechanic shot all the video and he was the one wearing the hat-cam. We'll both be at Manchester in a week and a half, though. He'll be shooting SSP-EX and I'll be shooting SSP-MA for the first time. See ya there?
  7. Here's all 10 stages on video: http://www.tristateshooters.com/forums/showthread.php?p=446#post446
  8. 1. air rifle 2. .22 rifle 3. 12 g. pump shotgun 4. semi-auto handgun (9, .40, .45 or whatever) 5. AR
  9. Here are four links that show complete slide disassembly: http://www.topglock.com/info/coverplate.htm http://www.topglock.com/info/firingpin.htm http://www.topglock.com/info/edp.htm http://www.topglock.com/info/extractor.htm If you are referring to the black plastic spacer sleeve that is part of the firing pin assembly, these steps will get you there. If you are referring to the channel liner, which is a plastic sleeve embedded in the slide, you need a 5/16" bolt (IIRC), which is basically threaded into the channel liner, and then simply pulled out. Be forewarned, your liner will now be your old liner, because it's usually destroyed using this method. There really is no reason to remove it, though.
  10. Order one for me Tungsten--we're due in March.

  12. I wasn't going to ask, but I was hoping to discover sooner or later that he did not use a gun. Oh well.
  13. Yes, I have picked up quite a bit of speed since starting Jenny Craig and trading my Harley for a Huffy. Plus, with all the weight I have lost, my ass is now a smaller target for my Glock.
  14. Not sure what you have on the right, but the bullets on the left look like Thompson-Center Maxi-balls, which are used with muzzleloading black powder rifles.
  15. Here's what I know about Shelby Forest (it's been years since I've been there--things may have changed): -The park WAS only open a few days a week (due to budget$ problems) -the park is open to all for archery season -gun hunts are by drawing only, and only shotguns are permitted, although there are some muzzleloader hunts Sorry, my info is limited, this link may help, though: http://www.state.tn.us/twra/pdfs/wmaseasons08.pdf check p. 48.
  16. 5.5 pounds and 1/2" of travel hardly qualifies as SA. The 1911 owners can probably verify this.
  17. I'll have to side with tower on this one--too many cops are incompetent with firearms. There are some who are fine shots and really know what they're doing, but most cops are not "gun" people and do not get enough training, much less practice. I believe it was Todd@CIS that recently posted that his department qualifies every couple months or so. This is incredible! I wish all departments would do this, but very few do. I said it before and I'll say it again--Glocks are perfectly safe IF the owner has proper training and practices routinely. If the shooter is casual toward training and gun handling practice, they need something else, cops included.
  18. Yeah, all the Cromptonites are strangely quiet these days...
  19. That sounds like a good breakfast.
  20. Lots of people here have problems with the pipes coming loose, although my wife's Glock 19 has them and they have held up well. FWIW, several locals have been unhappy with TruGlo's customer service. Based on how TFOs do on other guns and how TruGlo balks at taking care of them, I probably would not buy them again. My wife loves them, though.
