The sky screamers are getting laryngitis today

I still have a metal NFL lunchbox like the kid on the left has. No idea where the thermos is, though.

About 3” out here. Took a short ride in the 4Runner early just to see what the roads were like but the 4Runner made that a boring affair (snow doesn’t bother the 4Runner). Roads look pretty clear now. The ground wasn’t cold enough yet to prevent melting. Good thing - the low tonight is 8F.

I finally got my own tools and gadgets to build uppers and lowers, I’ll never shop for complete uppers again lol
-
I ordered a stripped upper from them last week. The kinda janky website combined with the almost-too-good-to-be-true price had me skeptical, but they do list a street address and there was lots of good online feedback about them. They shipped my upper fast and I’ll do business with them again.

Meanwhile, their website shows a huge Presidents’ Day sale

You’ll pay more and you can get any color you want as long as it’s black, but the retailer will actually ship your stuff.
-
Sounds like a hassle but I did. CC company said it will take two billing cycles . Some guys online are seeing their stuff suddenly get shipped after starting a dispute. It it works, great, but now I just want my money back so I can go a different route with my build without having to wonder if I'll end up getting it or not. I don't believe my parts were ever in stock - nobody' shipping department is backed up 1.5 months.
-
They supply receivers and barrels for big name AR manufacturers - they are huge. I hope their new business model is not "we have plenty of business- F em." I have heard that the hard-to-find-good-help problem is still a big deal in Washington, and it's probably exacerbated for a company making evil black rifles in a deep blue state. Whatever the case, they need to stop doing "limited run builder sets in desert camo for January only" specials and send the marketing guys to help in the CNC room or the shipping department.

I checked the "Reviews" section of their FB page. Oh boy

I don't do much social media, but I am confident they are getting hammered on all the socials by others.

Buying directly from Aero Precision nowadays is apparently a catastrophe. I ordered a receiver set on January 3 and never even received a confirmation email. Thank goodness I always screenshot my order number after hitting "submit." Aero billed my card on January 5. No worries, I figured, they got blown out over the holidays. Fast forward to day 44 and they still won't answer the phone, reply to messages (I can't find an email address), and their chat just kicks you off after 30 minutes. Five minutes of internet research reveals that there are a lot of other folks with the same story. Their customer service is awful. Meanwhile, they keep emailing me about receiver sets and other parts ready to ship. Yeah right. I like Aero receivers and hand guards and I might buy them from a retailer if I can temporarily get the taste out of my mouth, but I will never buy directly from Aero again, no matter how good their prices are.

Another gun that I still kick myself for not buying decades ago when they were pretty affordable (along with Colt King Cobra, Ruger Mini-30, and Winchester 94 Trapper), although $850 nowadays is pretty fair. GLWS

One of the craziest fishing trips I've ever been on was when Poplar Tree Lake in Shelby Forest was being drained for repair. Fish were competing with each other for the dwindling supply of food and would knock the crap out of anything that touched the water. We caught a bass with every cast but we almost bled out from the mosquito bites.

Why not more open carry?
deerslayer replied to billyblazes's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Right, but I don’t think a holster would have made a difference. At least not one like the jackwags OCing around here use. -

Prevention, hell, they targeted that guy! -
That is exactly what mine looked like. If you do ever remove the gas block, the pins are tapered opposite of most brands. I’ve already forgotten if they come out right-left or left-right lol
-
A lot of M&P 15 owners online did just that. After putting an Aero handguard on my mine, I can see why. The gas block (and barrel nut) was a cage fight. Smith wanted that gun to be bomb proof. I recently put a new handguard on my M&P 10 and it was a breeze. The gas block was a clamp-on and the barrel nut didn’t act like it was put on with JB Weld.

I think you’re right (I think I had his gun mixed up with Omega’s pic). He would have to lose the end cap, though.

On a side note, I got an email from TFA about a local meeting and they asked that nobody OC because everybody may not support your rights. I found it odd that the people advocating for long gun carry don’t want you to OC a handgun at their meetings. -
Most manufacturers recommend some sort of anti-seize on the upper receiver threads/barrel nut instead of thread locker. Also, if you get a modern free float handguard, you will almost certainly need to switch to a low profile gas block.

The 48 grip is the same as the 43X grip.
-
Have you looked at a 48? It’s a 43X with a 4” barrel. It’s essentially a 19 on slimfast and is better than a 19 or 43X IMO.

Powder is about 1/4 the price of primer for me.

I've done two injury-plagued stints at krav with some jiu-jitsu on the side. I learned a lot but most of all, to never judge someone by their appearance. I trained with 12 sandwich eating lardasses who were quicker than Connor McGregor and 130 pound weasels who could bench press a Volkswagon. I would like to go back, but I'm dealing with a couple injuries that would make that impossible right now. Good luck on dropping that 75 and getting some hand-to-hand wisdom in the process.
