  1. FN updating to meet market demands.. Good for them. Addresses some 509 Trigger customer feedback, specs as 4.5 lbs and partnership with Apex via a very similar profile trigger shoe. https://fnamerica.com/edgeseries/?j=630549&sfmc_sub=152379429&l=121_HTML&u=18218554&mid=7296526&jb=314 The question some current 509 owners will likely immediately have on this: "New, conical striker reduces 509 trigger pull weight by 1.5-lbs" Hey, will that work in mine?? Maybe also addresses concerns about breakage from dry firing without snap caps?
  2. With this last year, it's enough to make anyone a bit of a cynic. I think that term is actually too extreme. Given events, realist may be more appropriate IMO. Telling GA voters I'll hook you up with 2K if you get me more favorable odds in the Senate for the left Agenda. How is that not illegal? The one thing that the media seems to be focused on as more immediate is 10K for specific individuals based on their own life choices. Perhaps that is more of buying people off for what's to come after the favor they are already buying via stimulus payments? It probably does help fuel the thought that gun control isnt a bid deal since its all on the DL today. I see the rational logic of the folks in this thread who have pointed out other real priorities. That is plain sensible. Too sensible? When immediate priorities include hooking up a minority of the population which may not be the most at risk with 10k in debt reduction (may not effect their outgoing due to balances)....maybe you're getting away for what is most needed in the near term? Expecting rational or sensible paths seems a bit hopeful right now. But its probably good to have some optimists running around. That said, that item was a campaign based pandering item, so it supports they are moving on them. As was Gun related nonsense, so its just as sensible to expect it.
  3. Here is another thought given this is for introducing the sport to your baby. Since you’re a sig and Beretta fan, you may have a model that they offer a 22 conversion for. I’ve got 22 uppers for my 92, 229, and 1911. Even one for a Glock. They all work well. Given the current gun pricing and limited availability, its likely a better way to go with a known quantity for less, not to mention you can have it delivered to your door without transfer fees. The downside may be your girl may get ac real liking for your 229 so you’ll have to share. Good problem to have though
  4. Thanks for the vigilance. I’m not getting a redirect on trying it again. They have a lot of ad based redirects on that page that rotate, possibly one that was a bit more malicious was set for active page event when I went out there. Didn’t win anything, I feel robbed.
  5. I’d guess it may have something to do with browsers and Java settings. You’re almost tempting me to hit it again to screen shot it if it happens.... but once was good
  6. Actually there is a lot of factual error, but its inter-dispersed with other opinions rooted in some factual basis for him give to give it the appearance of not being complete left rhetoric . Its the lefts argument against the extreme rights take. He IS hardcore left guy, using partial facts as smoke and mirrors to get guys to say, hey he’s sounds like he has a lot of info and facts do thru dont question the BS opinion. I saw a number of non facts or lies to support his Position, that non gun people wouldn’t know better. I assumed Gun folks would, but maybe not. Off the top of my head, I’ll pick two. 1. Gun nuts buy 6920 Colts since you can drop in an auto sear. Complete BS. The pocket is not machine for a mil spec auto sear, and the web prevents a DIAS. 2. the CA AK based mass shooter would have been stopped because you can’t buy an AK47 variant in CA. Complete BS. You can get them all day long provided you make it featureless. Its really unfortunate that this can’t be seen thru more easily, worse that he has a platform. But sadly, he is high functioning and most of the voting public isn’t. Easy pickin’s
  7. I don’t think ya did, is just ac discussion and everyone should be able to put their opinions out there. While they can anyway
  8. Quick note on that site. It immediately forwarded to fake virus site saying your device is compromised. Not sure if it’s a mobile only and you are you using s computer. First time I’ve run across something like that on a mobile.
  9. I liken it to teaching someone to drive but with more consequences. Tons of parallels with new drivers, rules, safety, and car selection. When you get someone who questions, its an analogy they can relate to. I avoid politics for the most part, outside emphasizing I expect them to examine current laws and how it effects their plans or intended use, keeping mindful that they are subject to change. I don't think you can effect most basic views as they are set as they get older, so that is pointless and a frustration to both parties. However I do ask, why they want to own a gun and their motivation if they are older. You have to access how open they are and willing listen to the voice of reason and experience. This is especially critical with family. Like spouses, familiarity leads to a tendency to discount advice or assign more credence to that of acquaintances. Those who are married I am sure can relate. Its a fair question. I don't judge the why, as much as it helps decide what their influences were, and how best to approach method and instruction.
  10. These left shills posing as pseudo experts with some kind of credentials to give an air of authority are something. Scanned it for giggles and it did not disappoint. Nice artful interlacing of fact, partial facts, and some inaccuracies factual liberties. Putting "most" gun owners want more controls right up seems a bit transparent, and made me question the actual audience. Tactical flaw maybe. Inferring gun nuts buy a 6920 expressly because an autosear just drops right in.....hilarious.
  11. The irreverent purchases are the best! Have fun with the new toy. Deadpool approved. You may consider getting another one.
  12. I think many of us share that, as I've said here a few times our best bet is Joe to stay put. Harris was the CA AG during its most recent darkest hours and she was actively involved in the legislation. Her views are actual public knowledge. She has plainly and clearly stated them when she was running before she dropped out. Not only is she fully on board with Beto's well known 2A hatred, she is against ALL private gun ownership. Should you be curious, its searchable. I don't think her campaign site is active anymore, but her anti 2A position is documented in various write-ups from that time. Joe seems is a political opportunist kind of anti- 2A guy, while Kamala is a foaming at the mouth 2A hater. My take on this is that Joe can insulate himself by using her as the instrument for much of it. The country is in a very different place compared to 2008. The events of 2020 should really illustrate how these seemingly insane things have gotten traction and developed momentum that has never been seen in the recent past. Don't get me wrong, I dont want or hope any of it does. But in todays very strange environment, thinking it cant happen as its not happened before does not offer a great comfort level.
  13. Ammo and firearms licensing, capture of gun purchases, mandatory waiting periods and quantity / time limits. All things that CA had, or exist in some form other blue states. Having lived thru it, y'all should have concerns. Biden's published plan, which includes assault weapons ban and its next steps are more problematic. Using the practice of bills 'common sense' that first starts with limiting 'how' or 'how much' before moving on to bans and generational elimination controlling the 'what' you buy. Death of a thousand cuts. I have watched the CA legal challenges play out in the 2 years after I left. With the 'freedom week' they got with normal cap mags to the latest assault weapon ban challenges. Y'all should really watch these as well. IIRC, SCOTUS kicked one case back years ago. I suspect they will have to deal with them at some point, but it will be years. The proposed assault weapons ban and it's two options that follow (forced govt purchase or NFA/registration) are effectively a method to eliminate them in a single generation by potentially preventing them to be passed down depending on the 'NFA' provision. CA version make them all non transferable. If they do that, I trust more will sell them to the govt depending on their age. CA this summer has had more legislation to expand the definition of what constitutes 'assault weapon'. Makes sense as the next step to try to move almost everything into over time. On the upside. The cosmetic features have been able to have workarounds allowing limited use. Look up 'featureless' build. They kind of suck, but allow you to to keep them until they revise language. The latest expansion of the definition though is meant to do some of that in.
  14. I don't know what constitutes fact in a future tense, as its just agenda today. Seems the horses mouth is pretty open about plans / agenda. Harris' debate stated plans where more extreme, which is why you best hope Joe stays where he is. Keeping in mind of course that he has to be inaugurated before the poop starts it downhill journey to whatever recess of FB one might be keeping themselves. https://joebiden.com/gunsafety/ Or course, one can hope all that is just political rhetoric to get the nomination without any plan to act on it, but hope is likely all that is in the current environment. I trust FB, if that is one's barometer of reality, will get much more interesting in the 3 months following 1/20 We should start a pool. It would at least make it more interesting. Any idea what we could buy squares for?
  15. Coming to a galaxy really really close.... "...For a safe and secure society..."
  16. Sadly the playbook has already been battle tested and sorted. All the predictions are already laws in states after their long term take down of 2A. The co-opting of the govt that appears to be happening may not be appreciated by the hopeful crowd...or not wanting to see perhaps? That is the difference. 2A is just one of the things going away. 1A already has a large muzzle placed on it by the SJW crowd. Just working their way down the list. As David warns, dont think this cant come to what you may see as a safe haven like TN. CA use to be gun friendly too....long ago. It did not happen right away either. 'It cant happen' ended up with the pro gun guys sitting on their couch wishful thinking vs signing the petitions in 2016. Then we watched the final coffin nails driven in by the SUV driving soccer moms following what they were brainwashed to believe by Facebook and the left media, forcing ammo background checks and assault weapon registration down our throats. Kamala style baby!!! And now she is a heart beat away. I don't believe in coincidence. I fear this story writes itself because its really just a case of plagiarism on a larger scale. Hearts and minds people. How? But I dont think you cant have truth and fairness when .gov owns the propaganda engines.
  17. The issue is the media and the control of the message. The media / social media will be used to control the masses as we have seen over the last year, and most critically over the last week. I want to share the hopeful thoughts, I really do. However I have lived among the ignorant blue masses before coming here. I've seen this happen on a state scale. The ignorant are easily played with proper marketing featuring words like "safety" and "common sense". As the saying goes, never underestimate the power of stupid. 7 million new gun owners is far to few, far to late to factor. Darrell's comments are on point, they have just had the perfect storm to capitalize on. They likely will align any reasonable 2A movement with resent calls labeling conservatives as violent insurrectionist loonatics while holding up the contrary as peaceful examples of democracy. They are using pointed research and messaging, targeting women and younger gens. They are brilliant marketers. This is where the tide needs to be turned. I have no idea how to get the message and education out there. Exactly as Swamp ash says, being calm to get the correct info out to counter the BS. Its a problem of representation and support on these media platforms that are clearly owned by those that bleed blue it would seem. Biden has outright said he will call on the CDC and go with calling guns a health crisis. The issue being what it grants the feds in light of state laws. Will this happen overnight. Of course not. But as we have seen in the blue states, this is all about chipping away and playing long. But the current environment will allow the next chips to be huge chunks. Things they will move on per their own published game plan: Assault weapon and high normal cap mags. While it has happened before, I dont know, thing feels different this time. Where it goes after that...who knows. Biden at least recognized when asked he cant do executive orders that make folks criminals overnight, and the political issue it would cause. That was at least hopeful. And affirms our biggest hope is he survives the next 4 years.
  18. My take on GB is there is no real rhyme or reason, sometimes a seller gets two guys going at it and lucks out. Most of the time, these types of bidders tend to have low feedback. I recently sold a new Marlin 30-30 factory scoped rifle with its box. It was made around 2011. Pre pandemic they ran $700 full retail with dealers selling at mid 400's. Nothing special other than it might have had a couple more steel parts compared to polymer on recent production. In checking GB, only one Marlin 30-30 was listed and it was identical with a very close serial number. Also NIB. It was sitting @ 750 with about 9 days left. Same scenario, couple guys bidding when it stalled 9 days out. I went ahead and listed mine on a 7 day to end before that one. Low starting with a BIN of $800 thinking the other was had to e mostly run out, and one of its bidders may do the BIN to be done with it. Surely that other one couldnt go much over 800 if the current bidders jockeyed for it in the end. Mine sold the day of listing at the BIN and it was not one of the bidders from the other Marlin. I was happy. But I did the thing I should not have done....watched how that other one ended. It stayed @ $750 until the final day. One the final day 2 bidders ran it up to $1500 !! For a run of the mill recent production gun that most would not see as desirable. Most of all not on any politicians endangered list. These two guys were both low count and all I could figure was they got caught up in the bidding frenzy or thought others would not be coming along. I'd bet many dont know how to check prior sales to note these are still coming in with dealers selling them on GB for around retail. Strange times. But if one is inclined to reduce inventory, its a good time to sell.
  19. It’s always been a little insane, it’s just that its been off it’s meds for most of a year. I expect the show will get even more entertaining in the next couple months. I would be really curious what the total volume of dollars sold thru GB the last year.
  20. So it looks like I really need to clean up my email, but good or bad I found some of the pics. Had some of the bolt differences too, in case someone is curious what passes for the bolts current standard. To be fair, that is a contract part, and it was probably farmed out to a day 1 machinist or the cheapest place they could find overseas I personally avoid posting these on sites just to bash or start something. And I hope any limited personal use offers the context they did offer to address it (the barrel not the bolt) after acknowledging it was more of an extreme, though they now find the general practice Ok on a commercial rifle. As to close up's, there is no dedicated studio quality AR chamber camera attachment for cell phones as far as I know, so they have to deal with what the magnifier app could do. The purpose wasn't to argue with fanboi's but convey the general issue to the maker without removing the barrel. This is as received. The green paint being from M855 they test with. On the bolt, noticed the chatter / scalloping on the bolt lugs, and the elimination of the relief cut. I took one of another bolt for comparison when a friend was asking for parts advise. Use to be you would buy Colt bolts for other rifles, but I would pass on the new ones unless they go back to whoever their supplier was before the new hot mess.
  21. Well I know, how notoriously bad my word can be, so I dont blame em While I didnt keep the pics on my phone, it occurs to me there is an outside change I may have the email where I sent them. Of course, if someone is saying they demand proof, I suspect nothing will satisfy them as they likely are blinded by some misguided brand loyalty. I'll check in the AM.
  22. It was a rifle I had. When you say source, as in who at Colt told me that is the newer MO? It was Tim, who was there CS liason forever. But he moved on after there last draw down around the time they said they weren’t going to make commercial rifles for an unspecified time. I don’t have any pics of it, they swapped the barrel so no point to keep them.
  23. Offering another data point. I was fine with original spring in my 509T from 115 thru 158gr with and without a can. Luck of the draw perhaps. Nice they offer it for those that may encounter the problem. This is the best $20 you can spend for its generous spring rates. Works with or without the Apex bits. However I dont recommend the striker spring. It takes off big weight, but cant fire NATO spec primers reliably. IMO, if a striker gun ends up ammo picky with a given striker spring, dont use it. https://www.mcarbo.com/fn-509-trigger-spring-kit.aspx Enjoy your new toy.
  24. Good reminder to be vigilant, especially this time of year with other distractions. Beware Fedex labeled texts. My wife had been getting very convincing looking Fedex tracking texts, but had the presence to have me look at it knowing I have a Fedex account and get them regularly. These came from a phone number versus an automated account, spelled and formatted consistent with the real ones. Parts of the bogus link's URL were close. Perfect for current events having people mail ordering so much, would easily fool those without a Fedex account. Probably the best phishing item I've ever seen. Also been getting Wells Fargo texts, but since we dont have accounts with them, no need to check any further.
