  1. Curious, why are you not jumping on those here who said they might do that, or are they on your buddy list?? If you find it so appalling? You cant stop people from sucking, can you? There will always be those that take advantage, no one is saying saying it's right. The point that you and raoul are missing is that people can control their behavior, you cant control the unethical. If they choose not buy...does that not stop the problem? Sound like personal accountability is something neither of you get in this equation. Right or wrong is something else and a tangent to that point. ALL markets are created by the CONSUMER, not the seller. I suppose you guys also prescribe to the idea that gun manufactures cause mass killings, not those actually doing it. If they didn't decide to shoot people, would that problem go away? Or did Colt, s&w, etc force them to do just like the GB guy forced that guy 2000 miles away on his computer to hit the bid button?? As someone in this thread wisely put it, we are our own worst enemy. But no doubt it seems certain folks to blame others for their decisions. To be clear, I dont support the practice. Just like those running around buying all the TP first thing in the AM before those in need get it. But I realize without militia stepping up to stop it, or martial law, the idiots paying $100 for 6 rolls are making these asses do it. And if they didnt, they wouldnt. Same as those paying 600 for 200 worth of ammo.
  2. I think the problem is actually those willing to pay it. Don't they make the market?
  3. It seems, one could bring the aforementioned garden hose thru a bathroom window and it could take care of the needs for drinking water and toilet paper around the same time. Maybe take the drink first.
  4. Good on you gents who keep it stacked to the ceiling. Seeing 1K rnd cases of 9mm go for $600 on GB who can blame anyone wanting to cash in those without any sense. Thought I was in my forever house 2 years ago, was stacking it high before wife finally conceded to allow us to move out of CA. Paying to move palates of ammo (and I sold a bunch before leaving) made me rethink how much I needed for a temporary living situation and having to move it again. If this could have only been last year!.
  5. I have in a couple of my Glocks with lighter striker springs, even running the extended striker. Its definitely a harder primer than their standard dirty box. But not euro primer hard like the NATO made by S&B, MEN, etc. I just dont run it in those knowing they are harder primers. Typically they will pop with a second hit if you fire them again. Usually you can just look at your brass and check pocket depths on standard US ammo vs Euro or Nato to get a sense of it. As has been mentioned, cleaning out the striker channel is first step. A couple of my 320's had their slides dunked in oil and were drenched, which will pick up brass chips and junk as its shot. Sig never takes the rap for the kind of thing you are running into. They wont test with your specific ammo either. So sending it back wont really do much for you unless you have found a damaged tip on the striker. Possible the spring is on the weaker end of the scale, but since your not seeing it all the time, not likely
  6. Back in April 2019, I listed my NIB M4A1 Socom. They were popular, and small batch though they would continue to make them per the word at the time. It sold relatively quickly. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/110821-nib-colt-m4a1-socom-property-of-us-marked-collectible/ On occasion, I would have folks reach out (it was cross posted) to ask if I still had it. I had such a contact yesterday after a couple most last week. Odd as I had in the text it was sold but so much more than before. I deleted it yesterday, but noticed 2 listed that were (what I considered) insane prices. Like post Newton hoarding prices. Now I checked prices in October 19 after Colts Sept announcement, it was a marginal blip at best, so wrote that off concern about not having held it as it seemed a non event as their wording implies they may resume commercial production. But with the emails, I checked gunbroker....they are selling the NIB (and some questionable at that) for $2500 plus!!! Far more than mine for just 6 months prior without an active ban scare. The extended Colt absence seems to be creating a demand which had really ratcheted up in the last month for sought after models even though there is an AR glut and others are at all time lows. If you've got some Pony black guns....and are waiting for a frenzy, this may be your time to look at the market. No guarantee they wont start production if Biden looses, not to mention AR prices will continue to tank for the next 4 to 5 years should Trump stay in place.
  7. I wouldn't be concerned Swang, the Apex trigger doesnt affect the striker energy as you dont change any springs. As long as the new trigger bar is raising the striker block clear (not a known problem with Apex 509 bars), you're golden. Ray, what did you do to it? Did you go full comp springs including the striker spring and change the block to the Apex block? Some of them are on the short side so if you get drag on the striker you can have it. Are you using cheap ammo or the euro stuff (hard primers)? The m&p kits magic is in the trigger return spring, sear geometry and sear spring. You can always go with the original striker spring and it only adds a little. My 2.0 has a 2.5lb trigger and it can light off the hard euro primers.
  8. The OAL would be wider by most of the upper receiver length (receiver less the thing-a-ma-jig). So you get more barrel or a shorter upper at any length barrel = a more dense package. And under stress, I'd bet this set-up is easier/ quicker for most who dont handle AR's frequently. Its pretty cool option for those that want a takedown pistol. The thing that grabbed me was the folding grip. even packing multiple rifles it seems to get in the way. https://www.fab-defense.com/en/category-pistol-grips/id-2/tactical-folding-pistol-grip-for-m16-m4-ar15.html
  9. I've always liked full lug barrels myself, looks like a nice starting place. Good luck with the work, look forward to seeing the end product.
  10. With Barber and Road Atlanta being clos-ish, I think its makes a good argument to support it, even if its not a huge revenue center that a NASCAR event would be. But on the upside, city would not have to worry about logistical support of a NASCAR weekend. I hope there is enough support, but yeah, its a tough sell for folks that think NASCAR is it. I bet some of those folks would be real confused if they saw the NASCAR events at Sears Point / Sonoma.
  11. I use to road race and run some track days, so when I ran across this, I was pretty excited to see some possibilities that are closer / easier to get to. https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/new-road-course-being-proposed-in-oak-ridge-tennessee/ What do you local folks think of putting a track there. Seems far enough out and not too close to some higher rent districts to the south?
  12. Welcome sir. Your service is appreciated! That's its ground camo to avoid being a higher asset target. The full cloaked versions were sent to the boneyard.
  13. That is an understatement, no doubt they sometimes are made to be undecipherable because they themselves dont know. There have been changes in the last 10 years that has updated the language. But, I beleive you are cherry picking that first item, and applying it accross the board versus considering the second being seperate and in opposition. If Hunting = Firearms use, would that not be redundant? If the hunting was not firearm based (bow or rod/reel), it would call that out. Rather there is a section outside hunting (which has its own limits). Part of that language is around concealed carry allowance most likely, but there is intent that is unclear. TWRA and Federal Forest are not the same coverage areas. Overlaps would be the TWRA around shoreline, but it would seem if they intended that TWRA rules are to be respected across the board, this section would not call out as it does and just simply say, See TWR guidelines for all TVA lands. Obviously not a lawyer, but I didnt care to check with them as there are no usable lands around me to make it worth while.
  14. FWIW, I have ACOGs with a red chevron and a green chevron. I find the background makes a difference, but generally the green is easier to pick up in most situations, seemingly better contrast.
  15. It certainly was the long way around....to long. That test IS the test of astigmatism for red dots. But Aimpoint (where it came from) was trying not to trigger Astigmatics by calling it out, PC way to spend 4 pages talking around what some will see as referring to their 'disability'. Shame they have to bother. If you wear shooting glasses, just get a prescription pair. Most astigmatism are fully correctable. I finally caved when I couldnt see impacts on targets @ 50 yards. Didnt even know how much my very minor astigmatism effected red dots until I tried them and all the flaring was gone.
  16. Welcome to your new family member. Best wishes for her in the next year with a great outcome. Throwing yourself down a set of stairs for attention (or being sleep deprived) is extreme, but extra style points for the awareness to preserve the little one on the way down. That is a slow motion moment that you can be proud to replay in your head. May your recovery be speedy.

The deadpan sarcastic comments are the best. I can only imagine the rabid Five-Seven crowd thinks about some of these videos. But...Ft Hood....Ft Hood...

  19. That's great you want to get that piece of family history. http://usriflecal30m1.com has some database tracking, but its centered on the M1 Garand. You looking for a 1903 or M1? Of course, stranger things, you could put some details here, you never know...
  20. Look at it like any consumable, like ammo, at least that's how I rationalized it. If you had your fun with it, call it good. I was fortunate in my dealer was upfront with me about resale, and it being just as aweful for centerfire cans so I wont be surprised, If it makes you feel better, think how much more folks loose on centerfire pistols suppressors.
  21. Great pick up. While your hand is hot, you should buy some lotto tickets.
  22. Depends on what you reason for wanting a "higher end" gun is, and how good a shooter you are. If you have the time and tools already. Sounds like you already appreciate that the most important thing is the barrel, interface to the upper receiver, BCG. Triggers help, but secondary to those. Greg hit the mark on the economics. Current generics have closed the gap over what was the wild west of parts 6 to 10 years ago. Popular opinion and experience seems to point to there be little difference for a good shooter who knows his build craft and gas system function. The biggest difference seems to be feature sets (ambi this and that) and rail to upper interfaces. There are some that have minor tweaks that are designed to mitigate recoil impulse. If that is worth another 1000 to 1500, is subjective.
  23. Welcome from another CA expatriate
  24. Well aware of both. Bill here was nice enough to give me a tour of CRC and its a nice club I hope to get into. It has a 2 year wait. I've been to Prentice once, overcrowded and getting muzzle swept a couple times by a 10-12 year old whose mom did not care, I figured that was enough of Yocal public ranges for me. Which led to the researching options. I'll post the TVA reference. Like I said, its technically legal but I don't preclude some form or harassment as its been my experience (per Nextdoor and talking it neighbors) that certain people like to whine incessantly about hearing any gunfire at all regardless of legality out in the county. They have maps for what is considered TVA 'Undevloped', but most large enough plots to be usable are pretty far out. https://www.tva.com/Environment/Environmental-Stewardship/Land-Management/Rules-for-Use-of-TVA-Public-Lands Hunting, firearms and alcohol Hunting and fishing are permitted on undeveloped TVA public lands in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, unless otherwise posted. Please note, however, that hunting is prohibited on other TVA lands—such as TVA dam reservations, power plant reservations, power substations and developed recreation areas (such as campgrounds and day-use areas)—unless otherwise posted. Possession and use of firearms and other weapons are permissible on undeveloped TVA public lands subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, unless otherwise posted. If there is a conflict between federal rules/laws and other laws, federal rules/laws prevail. Consumption of alcohol on undeveloped TVA public lands is governed by applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, unless otherwise posted.
  25. The public land restriction really surprised me when I landed here. In CA where you cant buy most guns and have vast amounts of limitations on what you can own. But its a free for all with where you can go shoot, with plentiful high quality indoor gun ranges most everywhere. They discourage ownership, but not use. I falsely assumed a pro firearm state would be OK with usage and have at least equal to more than what a liberal gun hating state would. So you buy just about anything, but you cant use it outside your own property, and around here anyway, very limited number of indoor ranges that are poor at best with inadequate or no ventilation. Great I can have it now, just cant really use it. That is a major irony and a WTH moment. FWIW, I was looking into it this a bit. It appears that you can use certain TVA lands, or at least its technically legal. Not that you may not be asked to leave at somepoint if someone in earshot calls on a noise complaint. Not great options here per the TVA maps. most are a bit small or have backdrop concerns.
