  1. Depends, used to use quicken turbo tax.  Will not be doing that this year since they decided they (intuit) were not going to accept credit card payments through their system from gun shops.  I will be using the H&R Block software this year.
  2. I have one and it is a great pistol.  When I first took it to the range it was doing 6-7" groups off hand with speer lawman 230 FMJ at 50 yrds up at Norris.  I am sure the pistol is better than that, but that was all I could manage.
  3. SO since a pistol grip makes it an AW, I wish I had stocked up on $199 Hi-point carbines... turn in 10 and not pay taxes for a couple of years!
  4. I used State Farm and all you need with them is to add a personal property rider. At one time I had around 20K in insured items (firearms, fishing gear, electronics) it ran me $144 a year with automatic increase in replacement value every year that matched inflation. When I lost a surf rod and reel off the pier, I had my check the same day I was in the office to replace it.
  5. Correct, if you want a state that truly follows the 2nd it would be VT.  Anyone who can legally buy a firearm can carry.  However that right is only recognized in 3 other states.  A VT resident can carry in AK, AZ and OK if they are over 21.
  6. Personally I think NH does it the correct way.  When I got my NH permit when I was working on a contract up there the process was very simple.  Go to local LEO station.  Fill out form.  Turn in form.  I was called 3 days later to pick up the permit.  No picture, no finger prints.  They ran the standard background check and that was it.  Shame TN can't adopt something like that. Oh yeah, process was $10.
  7. Williamsburg is over 2 hours from DC and I am pretty sure the metro won't get you there. The closest place from Williamsburg to catch a train is would be Fredricksburg. If you are willing to do amtrack, I believe they run a commuter from Richmond (1 hr or so from Williamsburg) Seems I was a little late with the advice.
  8. I agree, GM should have been allowed to file Chapter 7 and then come back if they could. It really makes be chuckle when you see a support the union sticker on a foreign car. Considering the foreign company's don't use union workers for the most part. With a true bankruptcy GM and Mopar would have broken the unions and then competed or not without that burden.
  9. Not defending any company since that is all they are is a company. It amazes me how many people get caught up in "Brand Identity" in the country. As if what you drive matters, my point was ALL the auto companies take money from the gov't. Also, one must remember that this bailout was forced on GM in order to save the union since GM (and probably Mopar) original plan was to do Chapter 7 which would have relieved all the obligations to the unions. The gov't was not about to let that happen. Full disclaimer, I drive a chevy truck currently, but have owned, Dodge, Honda, Kawasaki and Jeep. I have no brand loyalty to anyone since they are just objects which we happen to require if we want to get around. I believe if the gov't had let GM and Mopar file chapter 7 there would be quite a few people in here complaining about how could they let that happen.
  10. Interesting that people believe the marketing that Ford didn't take Gov't money. They all did and do. http://www.forbes.co...out-commercial/ http://www.usatoday....ergy-loan_N.htm http://wot.motortren...-cash-9443.html From Forbes: "But wait a minute. OK, Ford didn’t file bankruptcy or get bailed out by Uncle Sam, but didn’t it receive $5.9 billion in low-cost government loans in 2009 to overhaul its factories and bring out more fuel-efficient technology?" From Motor Trend: "As part of an initiative to elevate its credit rating, Ford has asked for, and received debt assistance from the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union"
  11. Alot of the pricing has to do with how the dealer buys their firearms. When I worked at a store they bought from distributors and would complain about how that cut their profits. If they buy direct from the manufacturer they can save a ton of money but also have to purchase $xxxx.xx firearms over the year and you are also stuck getting less desirable models in order to get these packages.
  12. Didn't get to make it again. The on-call person needed me to cover a few hours in the morning for him.
  13. I don't believe there is a non-syn oil in that weight. If there is I have never seen it. You should check the owners manual it should state that 5-20 is ok on the charts in the maintenance section. Here is a site (amsol) that talks about the need for 0-20 oil: Truth about 5w-20 and 0W-20 Motor Oil - technical facts
  14. doesn't look like I will make it. I will not be heading back to kville until Sat Morning.

  16. While I agree we need to fix the debt issue. Believe it or not we are no where near as bad off as other countries around the world as compared to GDP by percentage. GDP vs National Debt by Country
  17. If you don't mind alloy the Kimber CDP Pro is a nice pistol. Commander length barrel with full sized grip. Had one for a good while and sometimes wish I had kept it.
  18. I may actually be able to make it up there this time. Of course it seems whenever I say that something comes up.
  19. Well, not sure how accurate, but seems quite a few countries offered aid to the US after Katrina. International response to Hurricane Katrina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  20. Also from what I understand if it is a OR gun vs a NY gun will make a difference on the price. The OR guns seem to fetch higher numbers. I am not a Kimber expert at all, but it seems the OR guns were considered more "custom" than the NY guns.
  21. Sure the one on pawn stars! On topic, you can only ship firearms at a main UPS location/hub. The smaller locations and the stores are not required to ship them (I am guessing it is management decision.) The only one in Knoxville that I have found that will ship guns or ammo is the one on Callahan.
  22. I had a similar situation. I am a TN resident but was working for over a year in MD. I had to pay MD taxes + a 1.5% non-resident penalty. As long as I did not get an apartment lease, buy a home etc, I could legally stay a TN resident. My address stayed as TN. The issue comes if you get a place and get utilities then it is harder to claim you are a non-resident. If you can find a extended stay hotel or some such you will be fine. If you do rent an apartment (unless it is a corporate long term stay one) you most likely will have to get the AL DL, Tags etc. if you are there over 6 months. Again, this is my experience with MD, I do not know if AL is as strict.
