  5. Last Tuesday. Planned to go this morning which is my usual practice but since there's a NASCAR race in town it's raining like Noah's last days.
  6. +1 for Gore-tex. I've used it since the mid 70's and it's hard to beat for prolonged wear out in the elements.

  8. So I've done a little work on the gun with the help of Numrich. New barrel, bushing, and link. Springs, firing pin and replica grips. Soaked and cleaned the weapon but haven't altered the finish in any way. Should be ready for a range trip once I hand load a few moderately charged rounds.
  9. I picked up a full size and a compact years ago. Sold the full size and kept the compact. Not a bad gun except for those crappy trapezoidal sights. I put a standard sight on my compact and I can actually hit the target now...lol.
  10. I've got a couple of Tauruses (Tauri?), a Steyr. Kahr, and some CZ's
  11. But I have to ask, other firms manage to ship with no problems. I wonder if whomever bought Wideners was just eliminating the competition.
  12. Right after the buyout.
  13. Wideners no longer sells powder or primers. Here's a portion of an email reply I got concerning this. Thank you for reaching out to us at Wideners! Unfortunately, we have not been offering powder or primers for the past couple of months. We continued to face higher costs to comply with regulations around the storage, sale, and shipping of powder and primers. You’ve probably noticed the increase in hazardous materials shipping fees, but that’s just a small part of the costs. We also faced greater local, state, and federal regulations that placed a difficult burden on retailers like us, who focus on serving the small reloader. It was a hard decision to stop selling powder and primers because we have sold them for so long, and especially because several of us are avid reloaders ourselves. However, we will still offer bullets, casings, and pre-primed casings with the same friendly customer service our customers expect and deserve. We are also already going to work, expanding our selection of loaded ammunition to ensure we can be of help for shooters who enjoy every corner of the passion we all share.
  14. Cool. I love the old guns.
  15. Just remember, you don't have to own it, just defend it, if indeed the SHTF
  16. Personally I'm looking for a hilltop with a 360 degree view. Pretty sure I have the additional manpower to handle it from there.
  17. check gunbroker closed sales. I recently picked up a Colt 1918 vintage myself and found Gunbroker showed a pretty good range of value. I think that front sight has been replaced. Numrich is your friend for date appropriate parts. I just got my order in to repair mine.
  18. Welcome neighbor.
  19. Congrats. My grandfather was a devoted beekeeper. As a result I have very little fear of bees.
  20. HCP showed up today. 17 days.
  21. Ammo cans for me.
  22. The best caliber is the one you carry daily.
