Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
bobsguns replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
I like that! Should be a law that every AR owner has to own one of these. I loathe that smug, condescending bastard. -
Wonder what Jeremy Pruitt thinks about the new coaching staff? LOL!

Back to shooting............................ There is a public range on Hwy 411 in Polk Co, just south of the McMinn Co line. It's almost right across the street from Savanah Oaks winery & the Amish market, or at least the roads are. Range fee is $4 or $5 per vehicle regardless of how many are in it. There is a restroom & the shooting benches are covered against rain & sun. The shooting area is "L" shaped, rifles on one side, handguns (shorter range) on the short leg. Many people like to try their handgun skill on the rifle side as well. It goes out to a hair over 100 yards, so not terribly challenging for anything above a .22LR but it's better than nothing. There's no RSO or any human working there. Most folks clean up their own trash but you've always got "that guy" who doesn't. Target stands range from minimal to non-existent, depending on the Forrest Service whims. I try to bring something to prop up a target on if I'm sighting-in, some PVC pipes I snap together to tape a target to for example. An old cardboard box also works well. Given there's no RSO or staff, your safety is YOUR responsibility. Calling for a cold range, calling for a hot range, all that is shared by all the shooters. Keep in mind some shooters may not be from around here & don't know the etiquette of how to conduct themselves or their guns. Keep your head on a swivel & don't trust that someone knows what the hell they're doing just because they're shooting an expensive gun. It's no where near as bad as the Cheatham Co range, thankfully. If I'm by myself on the long range, I turn around every 10 feet or so to watch my gear. If your kids are with you, obviously they can stay with the gear while you change targets. The pistol range is no big deal. From downtown Cleveland to the range is a hair over 30 minutes driving time, IMO. The range road is gravel almost all the way, so don't wash your car the day before you go shoot. Jessica's Restaurant is just a few yards from the range road, on Hwy 411. Good food, nice prices. Good place for the kids. Benton Shooters Supply is also on Hwy 411, on the north edge of town. Prices aren't too great but a nice place to stop & kick tires. Ammo prices there are way too high, IMO. There's an indoor range on South Lee Hwy in Cleveland. I've never been there but an indoor range is always a good plan on a cold winter day, IMO. Here's their link: Gun Shop There used to be a decent skeet range & league there in Bradley Co but I don't know what its status is these days. Several years ago skeet shooting was a big thing in Bradley Co but that was before I moved here full time. Oak Ridge has a super nice range with long distance options. I think they have a couple of lanes for 1000 yards? Tullahoma used to host matches on their 1000 yard range. This is on Arnold AFB, so there's gubbermint issues to deal with when going there. I'd like to go watch some .50BMG matches sometime but with covid, who knows what's happening there? The Chattanooga gun shows at Camp Jordan used to be halfway decent pre-covid. I haven't been in a couple of years, so I don't know what's what there now. I know my former dealer used to do them as he lived in Chatt as a kid but he basically no longer does gun shows at all anymore. He was easily the largest dealer there at every show, so his absence is big loss, IMO. The Great American shows at the Nat Guard Armories are ok but nothing to get too excited about. A good way to kill a rainy day or take a gun to make a private sale on, IMO. Very few new gun dealers do those shows but it's fun to see the older used guns, IMO. I live in Benton, so if there's anything I can suggest or steer you towards (or away from), just shoot me an IM or something. I'm not too keen on Bradley Co but you probably didn't know any better.................

Well, somehow UT skinned out a win in Lexington! Defense couldn't stop beans but managed a pick 6 in the second half & a big stop on four downs with less than a minute left. They also allowed a 1st down conversion on 3rd & 24. UK killed themselves with the 15 yard penalty on the coach too. They dominated time of possession but couldn't cover a WR if their life depended on it. That cost them a game they should've won. GA will kill UT next week, IMO. No one has scored 14 against GA all year. Dominate defense. As I predicted, LSU gave Bama all they wanted. Didn't watch any of it but the score was close & LSU led early. The end of the Tulsa-Cincinnati game was hugely entertaining. 4 shots from the 2-3 yard line for Tulsa & they fumbled it on 4th down, right at the goal line. Horrible play calling, IMO. Arkansas came back to beat Miss State, that surprised me. SC beat Florida like a step child. I don't think the freshman QB for Florida is all his press clippings make him to be. I wonder if Mullin is out at Florida at the end of the year? I wonder if his players quit on him in this game? I didn't see it but Florida has more talent than SC, so something happened there. Titans signed Adrian Peterson this week. He appears to be in shape but not in "football shape". Hopefully he gives the Rams defense fits. LA is the real deal since Stafford got there, IMO.

Really? I didn't know they were the smallest. I would've guessed someone else on that. Many other counties used to have powerhouse sports teams & then they added another school, split them up. Rutherford & Sumner are two perfect examples. I don't think Gallatin has been better than average since Station Camp came about. That's been 20 years now. Hendersonville suffered for a long time when Beech came along as well. This is where the smaller counties can maintain some continuity as well as keeping the community involved.

This is why large hammers were invented................................

Be careful! Jimmy The Greek got fired over saying stuff like that! LOL!

Aren't they the only school in the county?

Story here. Seems like the driver should've been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor with a fight inside the bus? But, oh well. There's a shortage of bus drivers these days. I know *I* wouldn't want that job. Gotta love his enthusiasm though.......................

Good news for those seeking a better price on a new Python. The Gun Crew has several Pythons as well as an Anaconda for sale on GB that are blems. The Python has a "buy now" price of $1599, way less than the usual $2,000+ we usually see. I have NOT seen the blem guns, so I can't comment on how bad or how little the blem is. Regardless, it would seem to me to be worth saving $400-500 on a gun though, IMO. Here's an example of one. Python blem I buy a lot of my guns used in order to save a chunk of $$, so a blem wouldn't phase me in the least as long as it was fairly small. Thought this might help someone?

I'm betting that will be a darn good game.

They go to the farm out in the country, where dogs sometimes go to?
-
A good chance those guns went home with someone in the department, IMO. If a gun is purchased via a private sale, there's no way to connect to the owners. Now what to do with them when they're orphans?
-
Eh, not really. One's background has a lot to do with that, IMO. If a person has a lot of arrests (never mind convictions), then they're probably shady. But the average Joe Bob who trades in a hot gun doesn't get much more than an interview to see where he got it from. The gun is then confiscated & if the guy passes the smell test, he's on his way. I once had a dealer who had a NIB Ruger sell at a gun show. When the TICS check was ran, the gun popped up as stolen. We guessed something in the S/N got transposed as the gun was direct from a wholesale distributor. He lost the gun, never got his $$ back. For those whom may remember her, Bob Pope's long time assistant Tammie bought a .222mag rifle at a show, doing a private sale. She traded it in years later to The Gun Crew & it came up as stolen. She knew the guy well who sold it to her & she was pretty shocked about it. She lost the gun as well.

Could've been a store transfer, could've been an audit, could've been a lot of things. I doubt the trial had zip to do with it.

He was (maybe still is?) a sitting Davidson Co judge. Comes from a prominent political family in Nashville. Got drunk one night & also ran into the back of a parked po-po car with its lights activated. Surprising no one, he kept his judicial seat. I got into a screaming match with him one time in his courtroom. Yes, I brought up his DUI stupidity. No, he was not amused. He is a whiny little bitch, IMO. His sister was a judge in Nashville that handled many divorce cases. She screwed more men than a Navy base hooker. (Figuratively, not literally.) Name of Murial Robinson. She'd favor alcoholic, drug addict moms over for child custody over hard working, sober fathers almost 100% of the time. I have read many, many horror stories from fathers who exited her courtrooms over the years. I believe she is deceased these days, someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. ETA: Nope, the witch is still living. She retired in 2008 & lives in Shelbyville. Served as a judge for 41 years.

But he managed to double down on that by being stupid............................

They will rape you on shipping costs. Pay close attention that charge when you check out.

This. This hub is the #1 rated hub for ANY carrier for theft issues. USPS, UPS, DHL, doesn't matter. FedEx Memphis is #1 in thefts. Not saying your package is stolen by any means. Just the level of quality of their hired help.

Make you smile when you shoot it? Make you think about that at one time the HP was THE most mil issued handgun in the world? Restore some of your soul with shooting an all-metal gun over a polymer one? I've never known Browning to be a company who listens & responds to their customers. I could be wrong on this, but that's coming from a huge Browning fan (me). They currently make nothing larger in caliber than .380acp, which is sad. With just a few tweaks (mag capacity for starters), they could've kept the HP in play & in production with any of the full-sized pistols, IMO. They could've gone the route blazed by Sig with their P-226, a full-sized pistol which is still selling nicely with models such as their Tac Ops. Many shooters, including myself, believe the HP is THE best looking pistol ever made. With a good barrel, they were also among THE most accurate. Yet Browning managed to piss all of that away somehow. They must've hired some former Remington exec's or something?

Ah, yes. I forgot about the Bengal win.
-
NY Jets fans laugh at your premise. Their only win this year is over the Titans. Rookie QB. Coach is younger but seemingly waaaaaaaay over his head.
-
They do offer nice aftermarket part options, IMO. Their barrels are $279 & up. I can get a Bar-Sto barrel for $249 AND Bar-Sto will fit it for me. I haven't looked at Nolin or Kart options yet. I'm going to go on the wild assumption that the maker of a top tier 1911 barrel is also going to make a top tier HP barrel as well.

Find me someone who wins constantly & isn't arrogant. I'd like to meet them.
