  1. I find the fiberglass ramrods vastly superior to the wood and aluminum rods. You put in the thimbles and measure how much you need to cut off to make it even with the end of the barrel. Another tip: Always shoot it with the ramrod placed in the thimbles, as you will shoot to a slightly different spot with the ramrod not there. If you do get a cut to length rod, you might want to buy a spare and leave it full length to use at home for cleaning. Also, you'll have it in case you break or misplace the other one.
  2. So what is being manufactured in the Gallatin factory? It is obviously still in operation.
  3. Fake news? I'm not convinced by a post on arfcom.
  4. You can find a generic fiberglass ramrod at WalMart, Academy, etc., and cut to the proper length. You'll also want a cleaning jag, a patch puller, capper, and a bullet starter. My advice is to clean all metal surfaces well with hot soapy water quickly after you shoot it. When it dries, oil it. Then check for rust in about a week or so, and take care of that if you find any.
  5. Never let anyone make you feel guilt for your success. You and you alone earned it. You are proof your siblings could do the same were they so inclined. Were it easy, everyone would do it. You can't change the past, so don't dwell on it.
  6. I used to bass fish quite a bit, but in the last few years I've taken to drowning worms and minnows.
  7. Same here.
  8. We're caught up with The Ranch, and watched all of Longmire. What should be next?
  9. I'd be interested to know what that one scores. Wow!
  10. Looks like a great season to me! Congratulations.
  11. I am a government employee. I feel your pain brother!
  12. I wouldn't want anyone to go to any trouble over this. I just thought I was overlooking something easy and obvious.
  13. It's an HP. It isn't a big deal, just irritating that I'm not able to fix it.
  14. Sorry, I did not know of your experience. Many folks think one can simply screw in another barrel and be good. I expect an action wrench for an Enfield would be hard to come by around these parts, but it's worth a shot to ask.
  15. Through the years, I've seen gunshow tables stacked full of various, dirt cheap American and foreign military arms. M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, SKSs, AKs, Mosins, Makarovs, Mausers, etc. Invariably, the supply dried up and prices steadily increased. Are there any more large quantity milsurp dumps on the horizon, or are those days gone? I've gathered a somewhat varied and modest collection of them through the years, and have yet to see them not be a good investment.
  16. I wish I'd have picked up at least one of those when they were cheap. Their prices have been steadily climbing.
  17. Sorry I wasn't more clear about this. I had Windows 7. and installed the free Windows 10 upgrade whenever that was. All was well until weekend before last.
  18. There's a good one in the attic if I'm not mistaken. I may just grab it one of these days.
  19. It'll need to both be properly headspaced, as well as properly clocked, so the sights are on TOP of the barrel when properly screwed into place. This is a job for a man with a lathe and a working knowledge of rifles.
  20. Anybody going? I haven't been in a while, but the last one I went to wasn't bad.
  21. It is a several year old desktop. Perhaps I could go back to windows 7 somehow?
  22. I'd like for the holiday to return to a celebration of the birth of our savior instead of the ridiculous sham it's become.
  23. I appreciate your help and detailed explanation more than you know. Sadly, there was no change.
  24. I tried this once, but there was only one date available to choose from. I tried it, and it didn't help. Maybe you could walk me through how to do it correctly?
  25. Scares the hell outta me.
