I expect hell is a lot like Gatlinburg. If you go back, give Townsend a try. Drive through “The Tail of the Dragon” and look around. The Smokies is a beautiful place.

The cold hard light of lethargy!
gregintenn replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sir, I cannot find the words to show my appreciation for all the efforts you’ve put into furthering our gun rights in Tennessee. I suck at expressing myself, so please do not take offense at my attempt. I am only speaking for myself, but may well resemble other members here…maybe not. I despise politicians. I probably cannot communicate directly with politicians without incurring legal troubles. I vote regularly. That’s about all I know I can legally do. I understand you know more things we can legally do to help persuade our elected officials. I would appreciate instruction or suggestions as to what we should be doing to help. I expect others would as well. It isn’t that we won’t help, it’s that we all have different strengths and weaknesses, and we really just don’t know what to do. I sure hope you take from this post what I meant to convey. -
Lol! It looks pregnant, but you know what? If they help you hit the target, they’re friggin beautiful!!!

A most Excellent Article about the Rich Prepping
gregintenn replied to Moped's topic in Survival and Preparedness
This prepping subject always tickles me. You know who was a prepped? Your grandma and grandpa! They had tools. They had food preserved and stored. They had a spare bundle of roofing shingles and a ladder. They had gas for the chainsaw. They had basic first aid medicine in the cabinet. They had a well or spring. These folks could survive most anything they faced. All these folks who sit at a computer all day and think they are going to somehow wander out in the woods and survive a nuclear war or civil uprising are going to be quickly surprised when the lights go out. -
I have a friend who owns an 1887. My opinion of it is it’s big, heavy, awkward, and clunky. It has all the handling characteristics of a 6x6 post. To be fair, however, I have the same opinion of the model 88 Winchester. I love me some Winchesters, but not these two models. Your mileage may vary.

I don’t see a 22lr on your list. I’d suggest searching out a 39A if you’re a Marlin guy. You won’t be sorry.

I don’t mean to be obtuse, but look in your reloading manual, then see what listed in there your local store has available. A man can’t be too choosy these days.

I’m out, but I guess I’m not the guy they are trying to market these to.

What is the ultimate end all be all revolver in 38/357 ?
gregintenn replied to tercel89's topic in Handguns
I am amazed this is still available. If you aren’t dead set on a 3” barrel, this one would be a real gem at a fair price. -

My old, well worn 4” Smith and Wesson Highway Patrolman sure puts a smile on my face when I squeeze the trigger. It certainly isn’t a conceal carry piece though. Its weight tames full house magnum loads, but still lets you know you’re shooting a real gun. The action of a pinned and recessed N frame is a hard thing to improve upon. It’s like a large 22 when shooting 38 Special wadcutter target loads. The accuracy of the old Smiths is only limited by the shooter’s ability. -
Might not be your cup of tea, but I really liked “The Blacklist” as well.

Wise choice, sir!

If you haven’t seen the movie “Lawless”, I can highly recommend it.

It did jump the shark a bit toward the end, but I really enjoyed it. My wife did as well.

You could watch one episode and enjoy it, but it does have a running story line.

Obviously, a dual sport bike is a trade off, like a fish and ski boat. It’ll serve two purposes, but not as well as a single purpose built machine. Aggressive dirt bike tires will work better off road, but will suck on pavement. Pavement will also wear the tread down in short order. I can tell you this. If you swap the back tire out for a more aggressively treaded tire, bite the bullet and replace the front one as well. If you get a better grip with the back one, you’re going to be fighting the front one trying to slide out from under you. All that to say I don’t have an answer to your question. LOL!

Ever watch the Longmire series?

Cool! I wasn’t even aware of this model. It looks interesting.

When you think about it, the guys running the military were little boys not that long ago. LOL! -
That Dreaded Noise in the Night!
gregintenn replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I’m at the end of a dead end road, and my neighbor up the road has a doorbell cam facing the road. He’ll have footage of anything that comes in or out. The way my property lays, you’ll either come by the basement door, or else scale a mountain to get to anything of mine. -

Or it could just be an errant weather balloon like the Chinese claimed. One thing I don’t ever expect to hear is the truth. -
That Dreaded Noise in the Night!
gregintenn replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don’t have a security system, but otherwise, I’ve been there. I was awakened in the middle of the night to a thunderous banging sound. I wasn’t good and awake, and had no idea what had fallen, or what was going on. Finally woke up enough to grab a gun and go check things out. I looked the entire house over two or three times before I discovered where some meth head had tried to kick in the garage door to the basement. As I live in a quite rural area, I had no idea where he’d come from nor where he went. I decided it was best to not go off down the hollow in the night looking for trouble. I installed a Ring camera/floodlight over the basement door in place of an existing floodlight. If something similar ever happens again, I’ll be alerted on might phone as well as have video footage of who it was. Personally, I’m not a big fan of audible alarms. I’d prefer to have the element of surprise on my side in such a situation.
