TFA Constitutional Carry Push (Updated with Scans)
dcloudy777 replied to GlockSpock's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'd love to see TICS go away, or the NFA repealed, but that would have to be done at the federal level. If TICS went away, we would have to use the fed's NICS system, which sucks. Exempting HCP holders from a background check (either TICS or NICS) CAN be done purely at the state level. -
I'm probably going to buy the Geiselle as soon as I can find one. But just for the sake of spreading information, Timney has introduced their Tavor trigger as well.

TFA Constitutional Carry Push (Updated with Scans)

Cool. I'd rather see a TICS exemption for HCP holders though. -
Just because nobody else has mentioned it: Is the end of the gas tube okay? It's rare, but they can get struck by the gas key or some foreign object between the gas key and the tube and crimped a little where gas doesn't flow properly. Another tip: the small plastic tubing they sell in the aquarium section fits over the end of the gas tube perfectly. You can use this to blow through the gas tube and out the barrel and check that everything is flowing properly. This is also an excellent way to properly "clock" a non-pinned gas block.

By the time you get an autoloading shotgun reliable to count on for defense, you can get a very decent AR, which is much, much better for defense. If you're really set on the shotgun, the SLP and the Benelli are your best bets.

I have a tricked-out SP-01 now, but I shot a CZ75B for a couple of years and probably at least 20,000 rounds and my pistol maintenance routine went something like: Find pistol rug with CZ75 wherever it happened to land in the vehicle. Open slide and spray in a little Rem-oil. Shoot match/practice session (anywhere from 100-300 rounds usually) Put gun back in rug, toss gun back into vehicle. Repeat at next match/practice session. I cleaned it about once a year, whether it needed it or not. I can't recall a single malfunction that wasn't ammo related. The gun was pretty close to stock, just removed the mag brake, swapped to a lighter mainspring, and swapped the sights. CZ builds incredible guns.

FAL mags aren't crazy cheap like they used to be, and although most are excellent mags, there is some aftermarket junk out there too. I'd go with something that uses the PMAG pattern (DPMS/SR25) They run $20 or less and mine have been flawless.

CZ was doing the ultrareliable service pistol thing when Gaston was still designing shovels. The CZ75 (and its variants, particularly the SP-01), is the finest service pistol on the planet.

The S&W is the best value for the money right now.

I'm sorry, but a .380ACP bigger than the P3AT/LCP is a waste of a 9mm barrel blank.
-
I read quickly and thought it was a .44 Special. I wouldn't think the K-frame would handle much .44Mag.
-
I knew about the 9mm guns, but not the K-frame 44. 3" hammerless, please.

It doesn't look like polymer, and at 20 ounces it isn't steel.
-
They are reportedly going to do a threaded barrel version too. Fixed-barrel locked-breech, this thing should make an awesome suppressor host. If the initial reports don't make the gun a total POS, and the threaded barrel still runs about 4 bills, I'm all over it as soon as I can get one.

Direct impingement is still better. Pistons belong under the hood, not the handguard. :pleased:

I'm SSK/ JD Jones would make you a Contender or Encore barrel if you wanted to pony up the cash.

Commander-sized 1911 is the best. If you're dead set on polymer striker-fired, the M&P45 compact is excellent.
-
They can keep dressing it up, but at the end of the day it's still a blunt instrument trying do a rifle's job. AR all the way. DanO

Heh heh... Glock is on course as usual. Gaston invented one pistol, and Glock has been 5-10 years behind the rest of the industry ever since.

I've always been an Eotech fan, and the XPS line has made a good thing even better. My current favorite is the special one they make for Brownells... built-in QD mount and a special reticle. center dot, 500yd dot, and the "T" is dead on at 7yds on a flattop AR with a 50yd zero, perfect for close-in shots.

No, because I calculated with 147gr instead of 124 Sorry. Please don't try to get 1500pfr out of a 9mm 147gr. :surrender: My basic theory still holds up though... the bullet will still do the job out to at least the range that most folks can reliably hit with it.
-
Figuring a 147gr at 1500 muzzle velocity (doable from a carbine barrel), you still have 300+ ft/lbs at 200 yards, and that will ruin your whole day if delivered in a vital area. It's also dropping more than 3 feet at that range, so basically, the bullet will do its job at a greater distance you can count on making consistent hits anyway.

I'm not a Surefire fanboy by any stretch, but I have to agree. I have the X300 and the Streamlight and for a pistol light the Surefire is just way better, mainly because of the way the momentary switch works. The TLR is an excellent light, I put the remote switch on mine and I use it on my Tavor, but for pistol use the "push to flash" switch on the X300 is awesome.
