  1. Love the looks of S&W revolvers.
  2. I'm not looking for a new AR. The way you described the lady working at the store I thought it was the woman at the Clinton Hwy store. I tend to set back and listen to people at the gun counter. It's funny how the clerks and customers go at it sometimes and the woman at the Clinton Hwy store doesn't hold back.
  3. I also had a few doe around me last weekend. One little deer had visited me me just before dark on Sat. The same little doe came back the next morning. She feed around me for about 20 min or so. I couldn't help but pull out my phone and take some pics. This doe was in her own world, she had no idea I was just above her. I was so fixed on her I didn't know BIG momma doe had moved in down the hill to my left. By the time I realized she was there she had already busted me. She did a Morgan County U-turn (that's the one where her front leg comes up slowly and they do a 180 degree turn) and snorted all the way up the hill. I love bow hunting.
  4. I picked up a Gorilla tree seat some years back. Works better than setting on the ground. Not as good as a treestand, but the seat paired with a good set of shooting sticks or monopod works great. For me... I need a treestand rack for the ATV. Don't know why I've never bought one.
  5. I bought my first AR from them years ago. The owner was very helpful even showing me his own personal AR. I went in there many times with great results. I've never shot on their new range but would like to one day. It's just hard for me to pass up ORSA and pay more to shoot at Frontier. The last time I visited FF the staff was more than friendly. Almost felt bad I didn't buy anything that day. I see a lot of threads like this. Dealing with the public can be very hard. The next time you go into a store just listen to the BS coming from potential customers. Most don't ask questions they want to tell everyone what they know. Hats off to the sales people for having the patients to listen. Everyone that's worked in sales for any length of time has had a bad day. The great thing is....if ya don't like store A move on to store B. Out of all the businesses I've been in only one has treated me bad. Been in a bunch of stores that were so busy I couldn't get help. Hard to blame the store for that. I'm sure all these places would like to have one more employee than they need just to cover the real busy days.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I just put another 25 rounds through my Gen 4 G26 this morning with no problems. That would be around the 200 count without a problem.
  7. Man I love to read the "stealership threads"! You have no idea the things honest mechanics have to listen to and deal with. YES, you take your car into have a scheduled maintenance and they give you the "by the way you need brake pads". Why? Because if you don't catch the worn pads the car comes back in 2k miles with the pads into the rotors and the "stealership" has to do it for free. Why? Because "you didn't catch it during the maintenace". We also deal with the sinceu's. "Since you checked my tire pressure the rear window don't work no more." lol As far as the brake fluid goes....the manufacture has a set time or mileage that they recommend it be replaced. If it's been neglected is the mechanic wrong for telling you about it? NO! It's his job. It's our job to tell ya what we see. It's up to the owner to decide if he or she wants the repair. Nothing more nothing less. I will be the first to admit there are terrible mechanics out there, but working at a dealership has nothing to do with it. A few years ago a friend of mine took his car to a Firestone. He was told he needed a whole list of things. He calls me and tells me about this list. Now I looked at the car just a month earlier and I don't remember anything out of the ordinary. I tell him to bring the car to me and let me recheck it and sure enough the car is fine. I call the manager of the Firestone and ask him to bring the mechanic (that looked the car over) down to the shop and show me what he found to be wrong. With all four of us standing there he was unable to prove the car needed anything except....you guessed it.....brake fluid. The guy should have been fired on the spot, but he wasn't. My guess he and the manager make a good bit of money doing what they do. Don't get me wrong not every mechanic is on the up and up. Find a good one and get to know him. If you have questions... talk to him. Believe it or not most (not all) techs don't mind talking to the customers. Heck I prefer it. It's kind of a running joke between me and a cop buddy/customer of mine that nobody likes us until they need us. To the op... changing the brake fluid is not a bad thing. Think of the temps that brake fluid reaches. It will break down over time. A few hundred bucks to keep up your vehicle is not bad. Again, find a fella you trust (at a dealer or independent) and stick with him. Just my .02cents
  8. Own a bow? I've seen them run in the hole with an arrow in em. Makes it easy to pull them back out.

    Revolver to Auto

I can't say that I've changed because of the things you stated. But I've changed a few times just to try out something new. There are pros and cons to each type. Shoot what feels the best to ya and try to get good at it.
  10. I hate it for ya. Nothing worse than buying a new toy only to have a problem with it. I had light strikes on a .22mag rifle. I sent it back to be repaired and haven't had a problem since. I'm sure it will be taken care of.
  11. Amen to that! I know good kids that have bad parents and I know GREAT parent who have bad kids. Every kid has their own personality. How many people do we know that have two kids with one of them being straight as an arrow and the other as crooked as a bulls butt sewn up with a logging chain?
  12. Shot one with the .223 last Feb. Stink as bad as a coyote.
  13. I've done trigger jobs on almost all of my rifles except my AR. Well it was time to work the one in my Stag Arms. I tried adjusting an old stock trigger that I had, but just didn't care for the feel. Too much creep, too easy to bump fire, etc. So I finally broke down a bought a replacement trigger from Geissele. First off it's super easy to install It took all of about 10 minutes to drop into the lower receiver. Once it was installed there was a noticable difference in the ease of pull. I don't know that I would use the term "smooth as glass" but it was much better than stock. The creep is about half of the stock unit and the break is clean. I see a range trip in the near future just to make sure everything goes bang.
  14. My son still plays a little. At times he would make the glasses rattle in the kitchen. Most people would be driven up the walls, but the wife and I enjoy it.
  15. Don't overlook youth sports organizations. I've been helping with a local softball league for the last 4.5 years. I became so wrapped up in it that I still help even after my kids stopped playing. A good number (not all) of the kids apprieciate what you do. It's also a good place to meet new people. If ya keep in mind it is about the kids and not the parents it's all gravey.

    decisions

I've shot both and can't tell much difference between the two. Just setting around handling them I see and feel a difference. But when I'm shooting I am more focused on the sights than how the gun feels. Gen 3 or Gen 4? Not gonna go wrong with either one.
  17. Best looking truck Ford has put out in a looooong time.
  18. I'm probably well below amature, but I enjoy taking photos. I can take 50 pictures and keep about 5 of them. Most of these were taken with a 50D and 70-200 f2.8.
  19. What kind of bow did you get? I like to bow hunt almost as much as I like to coyote hunt. I'm going out in an hour or so to make a stand. See if I can call in a dumb one.
  20. I broke out the bow last week. Been shooting 20 or so arrows a night (when the rain allows). Season will open before ya know it. Anyone else getting ready? Bout time to put out the trail cams too.
  21. at the range. Took the kids to do a little shooting and run a few rounds down my recent gun purchases. I noticed a few guys on the other end of the range shooting a bullet proof vest. I couldn't help but watch as they fired round after round at about 10 yards. They hit it with .22lr, 45acp, and .357mag. At the end of the test the vest was pulled apart and several slugs were removed. Some of the bullets never deformed at all. Seems the vest caught and slowed the bullet to the point they never mushroomed. I was 100% impressed with the vests performance. One of the guys said it was rated to stop a 7.62 round. Ya just don't see things like that first hand. On a side note... the "new to me" Glocks ran without a problem. I did find that when shooting at a faster pace I tend to hit high with them. The XD also ran without a problem. I asked the kids what gun they like best. The Springfield trigger seemed to have won them over.
  22. I killed one at Land Between The Lakes in Feb. That was one ugly critter.
