  1. I don't like the idea of night hunting. If it ever gets passed TWRA will impose a limited hunting season and the open bag limit will be removed. On top of that TWRA has a hard enough time catching spotlighters.
  2. I have both a Summit and an API. The Summit is the only one I will carry any distance. The Summit wins in the weight category and set up. The only reason I use the API is because of the size. It's the biggest stand I have and like the ability to move around in it, but if the tree is very far away the Summit gets put in the vehicle.
  3. We will never really know why the change came about, but I highly doubt it's to save a few bucks. With the amount of money that is spent on these guys per year a few hundred dollars isn't going to amount to squat.
  4. Sure it's about safety AND money. But think where our wildlife would be if that money wasn't being pulled in. The wardens can't catch all the bad guys but they do catch a bunch. If the money wasn't there to pay them there would be less to protect the wildlife. I complained when the lic fees went up because of the way I hunt. I don't kill enough deer to offset the cost of the license. Not that I can't but I don't want to. I like to take just enough to get us through the year and leave the rest in the woods. I had to take the safety course because of the year I was born. At the age of ten I started hunting and by the age of nineteen I had to take the hunters safety course. Couldn't believe I was being forced to take it. But you know what, I did learn a few things. It covered more than just the aspect of hunting, it covered first aid, survival, and other topics I never considered useful. On top of that, some of the people that took the course with me really needed it.
  5. North West Knox county. Hardin Valley/Karns area It's a mix between subdivisions and small sections of pasture and woods. The people on the ATVs must be local to know the area as well as they do. One woman heard a noise at a window and when her SIL went to check it out two guys jumped on ATVs and took off. A local restaurant was broke into and not only did they steal from them they vandalized the place. Several outbuildings have been set on fire and multiple cars have been hit. I caught two guys on camera breaking in a neighbors shop. The pictures were pretty good but they were wearing masks so making an ID was impossible. She was afraid to post the pictures thinking the guys would catch wind of it and burn the place down.
  6. Seems some local guys have taken to riding around on ATVs at night and causing some trouble. A bunch of houses, cars and businesses have been broken into. They had balls enough to bust a hole in the cinder block wall of the local auto parts store. The police have tried, and are still trying, to catch them. I've seen more police cars here in one day than I've seen in the last five years. The police can't cover all the small sections of farm land, back roads and creeks. Its got the community all up in arms. People have taken to social media and listening to scanners for updates. The only thing that bothers me is that should the bad guys be watching FB they know when the police are being called. On top of that, Joe Blow is out driving around trying to catch a glimpse of the drivers of the ATVs. There are multiple reports each night, and while they are being chased things are still being stolen. I hope when they are caught they get nailed to the wall.
  7. That's a good one for sure. Might take some time to top it so be patient.
  8. This is what the barrel port looks like. Looks as if the block was pretty well lined up. I measured the distance between the barrel shoulder and the block shoulder and it was right at .042. The barrel port diameter is right at .067. The ammo used was factory PNW Arms 125gr NBT hunting ammo. I figured even if the ammo was loaded light it should work with the suppressor on the end but it didn't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Barrel length is 16" and the gas system is pistol length. The buffer is a standard carbine buffer. The gas block is an adjustable block but when I removed it the first time I made sure it was completely open and actually added a little thread sealer to the adjuster screw just to make sure gas wasn't leaking from there. Now I've either lined it up wrong again or the port size just isn't big enough.
  10. I put together a BO AR last year and it wouldn't lock back. With tons of other stuff going on I never got around to fixing it. Well, today I took it back out and it still wouldn't lock back or cycle the next round. Using super loads with the suppressor on the barrel it only loaded the next rounds 2 out of 10 times. Looked as if the gas block was lined up and all. Gas rings were good, key was good, just seems not enough gas is getting back through the tube. I'm going to break it back down and measure the barrel port and block port and try to see what's going on. What are the measurements supposed to be?
  11. For me, it's worth it. Both my arrows were reusable but the broadhead blades will need to be replaced. Although I don't think coyote kill a ton of deer I do believe over a couple of years I've saved the life of at least three or four deer and maybe a couple of nice bucks.
  12. It is a drop tine but just barely. A degree or two at most. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Well, I took down two coyote a couple Sundays ago. I noticed something moving through the brush at about 60 yards and figured it was a coyote. I gave it a couple good lip squeaks but it disappeared, but couldn't help but try one more time. The dog, keeping hits head on a swivel, walked right under my stand. Just as it passed under some tree canopy I pulled the bow and waited for it to pass. But as they do all to often it turned and started down the hill. With one more little squeak it came to a stop. At 12 yards I let the arrow fly, and luckily it hit perfectly. Reloading the bow to finish the hunt (because it was prime hunting time) I noticed movement coming up the hill. It was another coyote looking for Harry (coyote #1). I pulled back just before it stepped out. Taking a broadside shot... arrow #2 hit the mark. Two just inside of ten minutes. That's hard to beat. Then last Sunday a nice six came through, probably the same six I've seen a couple times, and I let him walk. Then a crazy looking nine came in. He had a nice body size but had a really ugly set of horns. I decided to let the Mathews eat. The first shot hit a small cluster of leaves. By small cluster I mean three. I was so fixed on the sights I didn't even see them. He spooked and ran toward me. The second shot hit the mark and he only ran about ten yards. Gotta admit it's been a good season so far.
  15. Hunted yesterday morning and had one doe walk right under my stand. And I was able to hunt this evening and had a small six and a small four come in around 6:30. The doe from yesterday came back tonight around 6:50. I like keeping the does around so she will get a pass every time. The six got my attention, I actually pulled back and lined up the sights, but he just was a little too young. The four was very, very young, so he also will get a pass. Tons of nuts falling and I like my spot.
  16. My daughter wears a shirt that says "You say band geek like it's a bad thing."
  17. Just a couple from the local high school band.
  18. At one shoot the range officer tells me that I can't reload on the move. The same range officer, a few months later, tells me I can reload on the move as long as I'm behind cover. There was no mention of reloading in a specific manner. Like "you must do a tac reload before advancing." So can you reload and move at the same time?
  19. A couple years ago I had a cracked nock and it cause my Switchback to come apart. Not for sure if the nock was bad or it was damaged by another arrow hitting it. Whatever happed the nock failed. The arrow landed fifteen yards short and the string and cable came loose. What I didn't know was that it caused some limb damage. Took the bow to Sportsman's Choice last week and told H.A. what had happened. He called Mathews, told them the story, and got me some new limbs under warranty. Both H.A. and Mathews could have said it wasn't under warranty and let it go at that, but they didn't. In my experience, both the dealer and the manufacturer went the extra mile. So the next time you slap an arrow take a good look at the nock to make sure it isn't damaged. Out of the thousands of shots this is the first time it's happened to me, and I must say, it still gonna cost me a few bills to get it fixed. Don't let it happen to you.
  20. This was 100% human error. The safety feature they are trying to demonstrate is the pedestrian detection system. The bad part was the vehicle in the video wasn't equipped with it. So the guy was basically standing in front of what he thought was an unloaded gun. Some Volvo cars do have "park assist" but that video didn't have anything to do with parking. I've used the park assist feature (for parallel parking) and the collision avoidance system multiple times with zero failures.

    Black Ops 2

Not necessarily the curse words that gets my attention.
  22. I started playing xbox two months ago and have found myself playing Black Ops live and really enjoying it. I've never been in to playing video games much, but after playing with a couple of friend I'm now hooked. The worst part is listening to all the other players in the lobby talk trash. If they are the future of the country we might be in trouble. I use some bad language and these people put me to shame.
  23. The family and I took in this sweet little girl. This is our first foster and we were lucky to get a easy going dog. It might make it hard to let her go.
