  1. For all the stated reasons in the above posts, I'd go with the 9mm. I have shot and own several examples of the two calibers from different manufacturers, and don't reallly think the 40 is greatly more difficult to shoot/control in the majority of handguns. But there are some in shich the felt recoil is more pronounced, but not uncomfortably so. As said, it really comes down to what you like to shoot. I really like my G30 and XD9sc in 9mm, but the G22 in 40 is not bad at all. So I really haven't helped you here; it's still the old choice. More lighter bullets or less heavier bullets. My advice...pick the one you are comfortable with, like the best, and can afford to shoot regularly. If you don't shoot enough, you'll not be consistant witha any gun or load. jmo
  2. Sounds like a great family outing. But a question please. Where is Outdoor Junction? It's been quite a whie since I was In the area, and am always looking for a new range.
  3. Great choice for a first 1911. And it's a beauty at that. I think you'll really like the 4in for carry and range.
  4. Opinions vary on the subject, but I think the LEO has a difficult enough job without being surprised in the cours on a interview, traffic stop, or accident report by an unannounced weapon being discovered. Never been stopped or asked yet, but I think I'd do as you and inform. Seems like common courtesy for a man with a dangerous job.

    1911's

I have a Kimber Pro Carry II and a Springfield Lightweight Loaded Champion Operator. Both are Commander-sized, 4in. barrels. Both have Truglow night sights and are very accurate. Can't tell any appreciable difference in felt recoil between the two. My personal preference is usually for the Springfield, but I'd really have to give a slight edge to the Kimber in functional reliability between them. If you're worried about recoil...try 185 or 200 grain bullets in the 4 inch. I've had several gunsmiths recommend them and really prefer it to 230 in the shorter barrels.
  6. Must really be an inflamatory message...it's been removed. Against their policy????
  7. Sheepdog is pretty much right. XDMs have really affected the sales on the earlier xd series.. I recently sold a NIB XD9sc that I traded for at 450 and was really struggling to get that. Not what you want to hear I'm sure, but that's the way of the retail market when newer mdels supercede older. And for the record, I don't like it either. In fact, I really prefer the orginal to the XDM line.
  8. Pretty solidly weighted awnsers coming in on the poll, but I think we'e expect to see that here. That's a little surprising though, considering the three options outlined for the poll. Typical media style leaning in trying to shade not only the issue, but the responses as well.
  9. Beautiful collection of sigs. I'm kinda envious.
  10. Now that's funny!!
  11. Very Well said, gunrunner. I fell like that pretty much all the time myself.
  12. Looks way better than the stock sights!

    New toy....SR1911

Congratulations on the new 1911. Let us know all the ins and outs. Way way too many people interested in hearing about this for you to fall behind here.
  14. Does he deserve an attaboy for the Osama thing? Absolutely, even if his only role was to not screw it up. I'm not really sure he deserves an attaboy for keeping an iniative already in progress, except possibly for not stopping it.
  15. After looking at the stae finalists in each catagory...I'd say your cousin is definitely a very talented young lady. I did vote for her as well.
  16. If the excess gets to be too much for you...I have and opening in my small, but hopefully growing, collection of Ruger arms. (hint, hint)
  17. With young people like Cody...there's still hope that the USA will survive the PC one-worlders.
  18. All too true. But sadly the numbers of people like John Wayne are ever decreasing. The virtues of faith pride and love of God, country, and pride of heritage are waning. I'd like to think that the numbers of our awesome service members will change the fabric of this nation; to return to a time when patriotism and love of countryis the norm and not the exception...but only time will tell' God Bless America and Seal Team 6.
  19. I understand that. My shooting abilities are fait to good by my estimation; expecially since the old eyes are getting to be a problem. But it's always fun to fund a like-minded comrade to talk with and share firearms. Makes for a real good day.
  20. And where was it held?
  21. Yeah, but I got some really small guns to use on'em.
  22. I like that. I'll have to try it next time shooting in the country. I wonder if G&L would let me try it there?
  23. Spoken like a true defender of that over-rated, much-touted, another souped-up 45 cartridge.
  24. Then provisionaly...your temporary status is granted. However, a full citizenship will only be granted when you can do a full rebel yell without your voice cracking. Judging to be provided by any local redneck who'll volunteer to teach you the correct tonal inflection, volume, and duration. So therefore, I proclaim, before the fact, that you are allowed to continue to reside in God's Country, with the full blessings and benefits of a naturalized Southerner. Welcome, Ya'll.
