  1. That Civil War Edition looks pretty good. Makes me sad that I sold my Heritage some time back.
  2. I recently purchased an FM hipower from a forum member here. It is stamped "FM Hi-Power Industria Argentine" on the left side slide and "Detective" on the right. It's a 4in barrel in black finish similar to the black parkerized versions of the Belgian Hipowers. I was a little aprehensive til I inspected and shot the pistol, but it's in excellent shape and functions and shoots very well. Except for paying more than I had hoped for it(a little did for pops here) I'm very satisfied with it. I'd heard of these "compact" hipowers but hadn't seen one before. Had run across the Arcus information, but not the actual pistol. This seems to be a good copy of the orginal. It is easily as good as the Charles Daly Phillipine imported hp clones and in my opinion much better. If yours, nysos, is as good as this, it should be a great Hipower copy.
  3. I'll second the quality of the Cougar 8045; owned one for several years till the parts manager at one of my accounts talked me out of it. They are great. When I get all the others I want...maybe buy another Cougar, this time in 9mm.
  4. Pretty much agree with these exceptions; Never dealt with Hero Gear, so I can't comment on them. But in no particular order--Eastside/G&L-Greenbriar/D&T.
  5. I didn't remember the size difference, but now that you mention it, I remember that I thought it was close enough for me. But hey, I'm not a very discriminating person when it comes to the size of guns...I want them all. Seriously though, I didn't remember that, but like you, I was surprised that the Colt had a lower price. I had in mind getting one or the other recently, but an SP101 with crimson trace grips talked me out of it. Maybe later....
  6. Jonnin, I'd agree with you on the Colt New Agent in 9mm. I've had the opportunityto check out several and really like the look and feel of them. Haven't shot on of the 9's, but have shot the 45 version. It is pretty stout, but not unmanagable recoil; so thinking the 9 would be a good choice. Have you looked at the Springfield EMP in 9? Might be a viable candidate. I haven't investigated enough to really make an informed decision between the two as yet. Just thinking.
  7. Whether you consider it an upgrade or not, the XD45 is a great gun.
  8. I'd bet that it's just one more tactic by Dean and his cronies to get rid of the fairgrounds. Even if saved by the August referendum, he'd use the gate moies somewhere else, or when the attendance dropped, say " I told you the fairgrounds were a losing proposition."
  9. Personal opinion only. After looking at the DB9 at D&T the other day, I was less than impressed. Didn't care for the feel of it at all, but the trigger wasn't too bad. Long but consistant throughout till it broke. That much I did like. Other than that, I still feel I'm searching for the best size/carry/caliber combination without success. But...I did like it better than the LC9.
  10. Well said. If nothing else, awnser a serious complaint like this quickly, quietly, and humbly; ensuring that a dissatisfied customer will not cause you to lose far more than one class fee.
  11. Normal range session for me has been to take 3 guns. Usually a 45, 9mm or 38, and a 22. Lately its been 50-75 rounds of 45 with one of my 1911s, and about the same with one of the 9s. Which usually is the G19 or one of the Hipowers. But I've been enjoying the SW model 10/15/66 so much I've started cutting back on the 45. And since I picked up the SP101, I've been shooting even more 38/357. I usually try to finish off with a hundred rounds of 22 in either a revolver, SW417, or one of the rugers.
  12. Yeah. Looking forward to 60 degrees again.
  13. Never seen a Potter or a Rings movie. Don't really think I care.
  14. Very nice work, Drew. Your in-flight shots of the air shows are terrific.

    1911 mags

Just another tag-a-long awnser. Wilson Combat 47D. I've had issues with almost every factory 1911 mag at one time or another. None withe the 47D.
  16. In a word...No. Trade a functioning pistol for one that doesn't? Never.
  17. For the benefint of us old codgers, what is a Kenny Powers and who decided he's funny or worth wasting time watching?

    SIG p250

Keep the XD. Think twice about the P250. If you really want it then, save a little longer, and have both a good carry/range gun and a good smaller concealed carry for lighter/less clohing carry.
  19. Hope this isn't too off line here. I' have to agree about the CZ527 Carbine. I've been drooling over one in a local shop. Looks good. Feels absolutely great in my hands. Just having a hard time justifing buying another rifle that will in all likeyhood just sit around after firing a couple of mags. But still....
  20. This is just asinine. I foolishly thought that one massive devaluation of home and property values would cause a little sense to be forced into the government and banking industry. I see I was totally in error.
