I was really thinking about getting a Taurus 709, but today I picked up a Kahr 9mm and now I'm not so sure which one. I need to see and feel both together.

Hey...in an effort to redeem myself from post #8. I just finished reading three books by Tom Kratman--Caliphate/A Desert Called Peace/Carnifex. All around 900 pages each, but quite good and worth the time. Micharl Z. Williamson's The Weapon is next.

I'm so ashamed. I picked up some Charlaine Harris books in a closeout bin. You know....the books HBO's TRUE BLOOD 's based on. They are not too bad, kind of... Anyway, it's something different. It beats the Twilight story. Has the vampire love mix, plus the blood and guts action thrown in, and a fair plot line. The third book gives a new twist to what really happened to Elvis.

Just in from the famous Al Gore...Solar Flares? Gosh, I bet you'll believe in Global Warming now.

Good haul, wish I could have gone, but too much else going on. Maybe I'll find something at the next RK show.

That's the sweetest looking SR9 I've ever seen. That's also the only compact I've seen. Looks like it would be a good fit for small to medium hands. Thanks for the picture.

Just picked up a Kahr 9. It feels really great.

Man, where are all these old threads cropping up from today? Six months back on this one, and a couple from '08 that I saw. But, since I found this, I just picked up a Stainless Kahr 9. Heard so much about them and when I found this at Eastside and Rabbi made me a really good price on it; I just had to pick it up. It seems to be similar in size to the Taurus 709, maybe a little larger. But feels so good in the hands, I just couldn't put it down. I'll try it out sometime this week for the first time and if I continue to be impressed, it may just unseat my XD9sc from first position.

With several references lately to the Sig X-Five, I decided to check out the Sig website. Yeouch!!! Outstanding looking pistol. Matching price. A quick look showed 1800-3000 prices. I've owned a couple of sigs and would like to try another, but this is a little over my budget for a while. I congratulate those who have picked up one. But I'll have to wait.

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC
hipower replied to krunchnik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Krunchnik, that's one sweet looking Taurus. I have a Model 85 Ultralite and carry it some in slacks or jacket pocket. It does, to me anyway, feel different and requires a little getting used to the lite feel after the series of small and midsize autoloaders of the last ten years or so. But feel underarmed? No. By the way, how does that 85 shoot? I didn't know it could be had with a ported barrel. I had a Taurus 450SC(? not sure of the model number) a few years back with a ported barrel. A real hand cannon. Five rounds of 45LC in a 2 inch barrel. The muzzle blast would part your hair for you. After about 20 rounds I sold it. Just not for me. -
Congrats on the new Taurus. I've owned and still own several of the Millinium and Pro Series guns; both in 40 and 45. They have been great little guns for carry and for range time fun. I'm surprixed that you had feeding issues with ball ammo in it though. I've run everything from 50+ year old milsurplus to really crappy relaods, and some of most import ammo for them without any issues. As you say, must be some really dirty powder. But if you haven't already, check the feed ramp and make sure it's clean and smooth. These guns aren't top-of-the-line jewels, but they are very good affordable and sevicable weapons. Clean it frequently, feed it regularly and it will serve you well.

I know everyones perception is different, but I don't think the 3 to 4 inch barreled 45 is hard to control. Especially if you use the 185 grain round suggested above. Just hold on tightly and pull.

Continue to support the NRA...for all the above reasons.

Great. Another Damn Yankee! Just kidding. Welcome to the real world.

Soccer cleat vs Eye....Who do you think will win????
hipower replied to KahrMan's topic in General Chat
Glad to hear she's doing OK. That's one tough young lady you got there. But you'd better run when she's feeling better, those pictures won't exactly thrill her when she finds out how many have seen them. -
Strange...I find it very easy to stop. Perhaps if it were the fabled Bronker himself in the video...

Congratulations! I did it a couple of years ago, then backslid with cancer medical bills. But have recently done as you again. And it is great to not have those nasty statements coming in all the time. It just saps your drive, as well as your money. Well Done.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check them out.

Broomhead, I don't even really know what to say to you. I pray that you will endure this with the dignity you've shown here. I thought I had a rough time during cancer treatments, but your experience puts me to shamefaced embarassment. I have had enough back and lumbar issues to fully understand your situation and never, ever want to go there. I can only hope and pray that somehow it get better for you. GGP2JZ, I had my gall bladder removed in 1999, and can tell you it will get better. The gas pain was awful, I agree. But for me, the back pains leading up to the surgery were the absolute worst part. Recovery was a little slow and painful for me because of a set of spare tires I was carrying around. The worst time I had was the first time out of bed and the first time I got into a co-workers little Saturn sedan to go to lunch with him a few weeks later. Compressing that incision and the pressure from the weight was not fun at all. But it does go away pretty quickly. Hang tough guys.

Wait a minute, isn't that the reason to buy several??? And I should know.

Very nice work. A good cane has many uses.

Considering the Smartass Quotient of the average TGO'er, you really shouldn't be surprised you know.

Yikes!!! That's nuts. Talked to Phil at Belshire today. Says he will have some when they start shipping. Maybe not from the first batch. But will get them.

My pitiful 2 cents worth. We weren't there. We don't know the particulars. We are speculating on what did or did not happen. No ifs, ands, or, or buts. WE dont know. I've bought from RB exactly twice. Got a fair deal on an xd9sc last year, and bought 4 boxes of 22 mag late Saturday afternoon. And it was cheaper than the same brand at Wally World. And no, I don't know if this transpired while I was there. If, as some speculate, this was a deliberate effort to shortchange the man on the deal, it will sure be revisited on them. At the very least all the negative commentary here will get back to the shop I'd think. And it probably will affect them somewhat. RB's reaction to all this could and should be seen before we get the rope out.
