  1. Welcome and glad to know there is another Bubba on here now.
  2. I hope he didn't buy that from someone who actually told him it was a Glock or that he didn't buy it beleiveing that it was a Glock. Of course there is one born everyday.
  3. In addition to firing 13 shots from a 6 shot revolver in the movies I also laugh when during a auto chase you hear tires squealing on dirt and they shift 13 time with no more than 4 gears available.
  4. Congrats I hope the don't have a no personal handgun on the property or in your car policy. That would be be a real bummer.

I have been wanting an entry level 1911 and purchased an American Classic II last week @ Austin's. I've not had an opportunity to fire it yet. Since I am a 1911 newbe I don't really know how it would compare to a high end weapon but to me the fit, finish and feel are all I could ask for.
  6. Clark Ctr is now an Oak Ridge City facility and is posted
  7. Quality Towing is just around the corner from Nobel metels. When we find cars abondoned on streets inside the City limits Quality will pick them up. In the case of finding the car abandoned the City has to go thru a legal process before it is disposed of. I have also had to move vehicles in order to resurface streets. In some instances I can find the owner of the vehicle and sometimes, like you, the owner just wants rid of the vehicle. Quality picks those up also. I don't know what they actually do with them. Their number is 483-8605.
  8. Next bill I want to see passed is the one saying an employee can't be denied keeping a handgun in his/her automobile on company proporty as long as it's locked up.
  9. What Oh Shoot said: .22 38 and 9MM and I am also trying to keep it that way but I'll admit that at some time I want a 1911.
  10. I was almost where you are when I became intrested in firearms and shooting. I took the basic handgun course @ Coal Creek and then took the HCP class. I have also since taken the basic NRA class @ the OR Sportsman club. I think a basic course, regardless of where you choose to take it would help you. Since then I've found Austin's and have dealt with and can recommend Mike however I've not taken a class from him. I have also dealt with Personal Defense on Watt Rd. I purchased my Browning from them and they talked and answered as long as I had questions. I can recommend them.
  11. I concur with Bkelm. I am on a permeate soapbox about the fact that so many people take and pass the HCP class with no prior firearms training and most likely will never have any addtiional. Having said that to provide futher aid to those persons a lot of class rooms have visual aids such as posters hanging on the walls. There is a good chance that a lot of the material on the test may actually be displayed somewhere around the class room.
  12. I've been fighting with the bees boring holes in my deck and fence for years but this year I have begun having the problem that Rightwinger talked about. I've got some woodpeckers that are just ripping holes in anything that wood. I've gone through three tubs of wood filler trying to fill the holes but don't know how to run birds off.
  13. Welcome. What he said. If you have an opportunity visit ORSA do so and Austin's will also take care of you.
  14. I have said in previous posts that I think persons with no experience should take a basic handgun course prior to taking the HCP class. I think the HCP class should be devoted to legal and safe carry as opposed to basic operation. I also don't think one and done is adquate. Anyone with a HCP needs to take additional classes and also pratice with the weapon of his or her choice.
  15. To get professional advice go to a professional. You go to a doctor for your medical needs and you use an attorney for legal services. Your future and planning for your retirement is no less important so use a professional money manager. They aren't that expensive and they pay for themselves. I'm not one but had one do all of my planning and it was well worth it. A word of caution. When choosing one, if you decide to do so, you probably want an arrangement where you pay them for the planning as opposed to their compensation coming from the products they sell you. Good Luck
  16. Welcome to TGO. I'm sure there are good IDPA in your area but if and you don't mind a short drive ORSA has one 1st Sat. of the month.
  17. You were correct in not acknowledging him and in taking the high road and disregarding his comment
  18. BryanP took the words out of my mouth. I want a pocket gun and would like to have a 380 something but whereas he chose a PM9 I will probably purchase a CW9 next month. This makes sense for me because I already have a Glock 19 so I can standardize ammo.
  19. It was a good series and I'm sure I'll re-watch it again. Somehow it seemed "rushed" as compared to Band of Brothers. The episodes were 60 minutes with 6-8 of those devoted to review and preview meaning there was only actually 52 to 54 minuets of new material whereas BOB was closer to 90 minutes.
  20. Welcome to TGO and hope you consider ORSA if you aren't already a member

    Hot Stuff!

I concur with Joe on this one the threat doesn't have to be from a gun to be deadly. If fact there are some that think the fast food it's self is deadly it just takes longer to kill you. Maybe that means we just shoot the clerk before they take our order.
  22. It's got to have been real because no one, not even a TV or movie writer, could think all of that up. Even Chuck wearing a 3 wolf shirt couldn't do all of that.
  23. There may be hope. I know of 2 Wal-Marts that have very small sporting goods counters but have Ammo in display cases seprate from the counter. I don't know if that's the plan for S. Knoxville.
