  1. Maybe the Consumer Product Safety Commission should get involved and require all new guns sold come with some sort of hearing protection which could include a can. Would help out a stagnating industry.
  2. There are a few here. Usually flush them as I go down the driveway. Neighbor said there have been quail in the location of my driveway for decades as he hunted them as a kid. I also hear a few out back, but it's spotty. Old guy I worked with eons ago used to bring fried ones for lunch pretty often. They were tasty!
  3. probably could do a better one second time around. We were trying to get the rest of the driveway slab poured and I didn't really get to spend much time with it. My vibrator has 10 year old batteries and they just won't hold a charge for any length of time. Kind of a bummer. We poured all our countertops 11 years ago and slick finished them, they are as glossy as granite. When the weather cools off I'll prepare a foundation, too hot to fool around with concrete right now
  4. got it popped out of the mould. With my vibrator petering out I ended up with some porosity in the center and along the top right edge. The edge porosity is the most disappointing. We where using a 6 slump concrete and poured this first so it was probably even lower. It should have turned out better with more vibration. I may try and use a slurry to fill in the worst part. Will still be a nice bench but not super slick like my counter tops.
  5. Got it poured on Thursday. Got the driveway section finished up as well with a total of 40.5 yards. Not bad for two guys getting it all done over three half days. Haven't stripped it yet so don't know what the business side is going to look like. I vibrated it so hopefully it will look ok. The battery in my vibrator has about had it so didn't get as much as I would have liked.
  6. We did all the tops in our house when we built 10 or so years ago. They worked out nicely although it was a lot of work. We pre-cast them rather than doing the pour in place. Granite has gotten a lot cheaper these days, so I'm not sure we would do it again. But it's kinda like building you're own gun, you have something special to be proud of afterward.
  7. I figure about 300 or so. Going to set it on some concrete blocks. Probably have to pour some footers.
  8. that would be great for Chicago these days.
  9. Finally got the mold finished, hope to get it poured tomorrow or Wednesday.
  10. damn, somebody hand me my Super Soaker
  11. that would be a Winchester Model 12
  12. I really hadn't considered a secondary meter, it might be doable. There's a transformer about 2/3 of the way down that it could come off of. I don't know how much middle TN electric charges for service like that? a solar set up would work. I never did check into the cost of that with a battery and associated electronics.
  13. the problem is I need a decent camera, one that can see about 1200 ft. Most of these IP cameras are short range wide angle affairs. So I can do wireless with Ubiquiti unit, but then I need some power at the remote location. I was on the IPcam forum and they only way was to run AC over the 1000', and of course at that distance even with a small load the wire was going to need to be pretty heavy, which ran the price up. It's too bad Tesla didn't get that wireless power thing figured out.
  14. I've been wanting to put a camera down my driveway but so far it's going to require running some wire. And because it's about 1000' down the hill that's a lot of wire.
  15. I have an indoor arlo pro that I use to monitor a remote location. It runs on AC. Has audio to listen, not sure if I can talk back through it. You can watch live, or set up a schedule to monitor and it will record 7 days with no additional monthly charges. It's pretty wide angle so outside it probably wouldn't work that well, it's not rated for outside I don't think. It works great for my purposes and it was super easy to set up. I'm only at the remote location about once a week and I wish it had a feature that sent a notification if for some reason it disconnects from the network.
  16. the old man lived across the road from me when I was growing up watched wrasslin every sat night. They didn't have indoor plumbing, but he had a TV and you could hear him yelling at the tv from across the road.
  17. I'm wondering if the black stage coach character, maybe named Mary don't remember, on the Hell On Wheels series was sparked by this real real life person? Well, I just googled it and it was. That show was pretty good and though completely fiction, did base many of the characters and backstory on real life history.
  18. It was almost like the bulging of the door by the explosion caused the door to assume a shape that provided lift as it flew away from the explosion.
  19. nope, if I remember it was Reagan. could have bought one for $2500 or less in 1986........ sadly I had to pass I had no dough.
  20. yes, a gun distributor. I expect they will show up at an auction near you.
  21. St. Louis police to sell 27 Tommy guns Guess Megan Barry ain't their mayor.
  22. we had a cardinal last year, I think it was the same one from the previous year. She ended up taking a dirt nap. Have a blue bird now that's attacking the front window sporadically. Hopefully she will calm down soon.
  23. yes, it's kinda weird, getting in and no seat belts, no head rests. Actually the front seats do have belts but the back seat and the one in the rear that faces out the back window don't have any. We had a Ramber when I was growing up as well. A four door 61 model. Had a metal dashboard. I recall laying on the back package shelf in the rear window and riding. Those were the days.
  24. yep, your wife's uncle, I hear it all the time-- funny thing about Ramblers.
  25. I kinda like them original if possible. Although they are all fun to enjoy. The folks that are into the rat rods can really be imaginative. Many of those would be bears to actually drive anywhere. This a Rambler Cross Country Classic 770 I've been working on for a while. 1964 model. It's fairly stock and in "as found" condition other than the chrome reverse wheels and the air suspension. I was against the air ride initially, wanting to keep it stock. But once I got around to the suspension I discovered all the springs were shot and new ones were going to have to be custom made which was a bit pricey. The air ride is kinda neat and was fun to figure out and install. The car actually handles a lot better than with the old springs. Ramblers are sort of an odd duck, but guess I am too. Seems like a lot of folks had one, their neighbor had one, or they remember someone in their family having one, but not many around these days. Never really caught on as a collector car. Oh well, it's still fun.
