I sent mine for renewal a few days ago. They returned it, as it was 5 days over the renewal time and I've got to reapply for a new one. The post office then took the invalid one as ID when applying for a new one. More delay and an additional $25. That's the federal government at it's best!

What places does he own? I want be be sure I don't go to any of them.

Welcome! This isn't the end result -it's a beginning. An employee should be able to keep legally owned weapon in his vehicle while at work. Also, the parks carry law needs some work.

As a military ID was used, I'm sure they'll want to investigate. As a military ID states on the card, it is for "official use of the identified person and other use or posession is unlawful and will make the offender liable to heavy penalty".

The first 1911 I owned was a Colt. If I were getting my first 1911 today, it would be a Springfield. I wouldn't worry about it having a lot of extras - just a good dependable entry level pistol, with good customer service. A word of caution - The 1911 is highly addictive! There will always be another one, that you must have.
