  1. Can anyone else confirm this? If it's for real, then it's just the beggining of the end for the rest of us.   http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/11/robert-farago/begins-new-york-sending-gun-confiscation-notices/
  2. I know a guy that wears one of these on his belt. At first people usually think he's LE until he shows them the "carry permit" badge. Then they all just think he's an idiot.
  3. The only thing about Microsoft Security Essentials that bothers me is how long it takes to do full system scans. I can do a quick scan & it only takes 5-10 minutes. A full system scan can run for hours & still not show as finished. I can stop it during a full scan & it will turn green & say "protected", but to this day I have yet to complete a full scan. Is this normal for MSSE? If not how I can fix it or adjust the settings?
  4. We have a HP Pavillion around the same age that came with Vista Home Premium installed. We've been using Micosoft Security Essentials for a couple years & haven't run into any problems. It's free & seems to work well. I'm not 100% computer literate so here may be others that are better though.
  5.   Looks that way, at least for the moment. I'll still keep my fingers crossed. :x:
  6. I got an email back from Bud's stating they have no plans of opening another location. I do know that Bud's is the only other location in the U.S. that has a Smoky Mtn. Knife Works display. Maybe that had something to do with the rumors. I guess time will tell. Either way, here's the return email from Bud's.   From Bud's: "Unfortunately, to my knowledge (unless WAY above my pay grade) we do not have plans opening another store. Sorry for the bad news! Thanks, Camran BudsGunShop.com"
  7.   It's different from place to place. Here in Scott County sales tax is 9.25%.
  8. That good & bad news at the same time. I've visted Buds at their retail location in KY a few times & their selection is insane & ammunition prices are geat, but part of the reason I order guns from Bud's is their prices are lower than anyone's & no sales tax. I guess it's possible that the money I'd save on FFL transfers could make up for the sales tax.   That leads me to another question. How much is sales tax in the Seviereville area?
  9. At least one guy got the chance to defend himself...the bad news is the punk's gonna live to do it again!  http://capitolcityproject.com/concealed-carry-owner-shoots-attacker-twice-during-knockout-game/
  10. A close friend of mine owns a pawn/gun shop & this happens on a regular basis. He says they call him back at the store & ask him to stall or talk about the weather while they call the police.
  11.   I'm all for them banning the Axe body spray.  Have you ever been stuck sitting next to someone wearing that nasty stuff? :puke:
  12.   +1. I saw an episode of CSI Miami a few weeks ago & they were testing different pistols at the range & concluded that the gun used in a certain crime was a Ruger SP101 revolver. Then the officer in the show made a comment that Rugers are "rare" pistols. Last time I checked I hear that Rugers are pretty common.
  13.   If it was at an indoor range it's possible that as the gun rotated it could have hit the bench & since her finger ws still in the trigger guard, that could account for the second trigger pull. Strange things can happen & as you can see, one miscalculation or a careless move can be fatal.
  14. Sorry to hear that. It's a shame for her to loose her life during what should have been a fun day at the range. I've seen this almost happen both in person & on the internet. Unfortunately youtube is full of videos where some poor girl's boyfriend talks her into shooting his .44 or .500, etc. just to watch her, often painful, reaction. I've seen several vids of girls shooting & the gun flips over toward her face or flys out of her hands.
  15. Here are a couple beauties & my main carry pistols. The SIG P229 was a .40 when I bought it, but I recently added a .357 barrel & have started carrying it in that caliber. The other one is my Beretta Cougar in .45 acp & my preferred carry choice. I should add that the Cougar has had a "G" conversion since I took this photo which means the safety is now a decocker only. As you can see they're nearly identical in size & both are DA/SA & have a decoker only & no safety. They feel very similar when shooting, though the .45 Cougar is a little smoother & has a nicer trigger than the SIG, but both are a heck of a lot of fun at the range.
  16. I haven't tried it, but will have to add it to my list. A couple nights ago I picked up a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel & can't wait to pop the cork on that one. I've never tried it either, but have heard lots of positive reviews about it.
  17.   The whole point is if the dumbass had obeyed the signs & if the staff properly checked the firearms coming in there would have been no ND, plain & simple! Crap like this is what's giving the antis exactly what they want.
  18.   You figure breaking the law & ignoring legal signage is OK? That was my point! There have been two ND at two Knoxville gun shows in the past two years. Jan. of 2012 an idiot shot a hole through his hand with a Kimber & now this.
  19.   We even had a thread on here about this a couple years ago & several TGO members bragged that they still concealed a loaded pistol or carried ammo in the show anyway because they didn't feel that the signs applied to them. There will always be a few that ruin it for the rest of us.
  20.   I've seen lots of guys & even venders cut them after they go in the door.
  21.   +1,000...sounds like a lot of dumbassery going around!
  22.   I made another visit to Bud's Gun Shop on my way through Lexington last week & picked up some Geco 9mm match ammo for $14/ per 50. The cheapest I've seen around here is over $20 per/50. I also picked up some Sellier & Bellot .357sig cheap. Why can't (or won't) local shops come close to these prices?
  23.   I think we get the point you're making, but in order to change things we need to move up the chain. I think people underestimate the importance of what the TNHP are doing, even if it's stopping drivers texting. That will save lives! I also agree that people endangering the lives of others should be knocked in the head with the book, not just slapped on the wrist. Start with with your local law makers like your sheriff, mayor, & go from there. The law makers need to be made aware that changes are needed. The highway patrol officers spend most of their time traveling the interstate & not within your community. The law makers should be reminded that they work for us & voters remember. The TNHP's job is primarily traffic violations, working accidents, & upholding the rules of the road. Of course they'll help anywhere they're needed, but the sheriff dept. & city police are the eyes & ears of the community. My cousin's a trooper & says he often patrols several hundred miles a day, sometimes 12-16 hours a day or more, covering anywhere from 1 to 3 counties. You would do better to contact your lawmakers (as should we all) & hope change happens.
