  1. The irony is, it's still better looking than a glock. :hiding:   I wouldn't want one of the "ultimate" hi-points, but it's always interesting to see builds like this.
  2.   Thanks. I'll go through my range bag & post something soon. I know I have some items someone else could use.
  3.   Thank you Dolomite. I would be very greatful. We had the motherboard, hard drive, & power supply replaced only three years ago so it's not very old. From what I see I think those should work fine, but I'm far from being an expert on computers. The current chips are Corsair DDR2 PC2 5200. The motherboard supports DDR2 1066/800/667/533 MHz memory modules & it looks like yours are 667 so I believe they will work. Here are the motherboard specs from Gigabyte's website if it helps..... http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3498#sp
  4.   That's about a 4 1/2 hour round trip for me, but if I'm over that way anytime soon I'll check.
  5.   Yes. They're DDR2. Our mother board went out a few years ago & when we had it replaced the asshat computer shop installed a Gigabyte brand (even though we requested HP brand) & we were stuck with only two memory slots. I still have the original 512MB RAM chips that came in the computer collecting dust. (yes, my HP originally only had one GB of RAM from the factory :surrender: )
  6.   My provider has a monopoly in my area so we have to use them. (Highland Telephone Co-Op) If it tells you anything, we've been paying $85 for phone service & 1.5GB DSL. It's only about 18 feet, but we have to run it wireless because of the location of the router. My wifes laptop is running fine & fast right now, but my desktop computer is lagging really bad since the broadband was connected a few hours ago. Since it was working fine with the DSL I think it either needs more RAM to cope with the Wifi USB adapter I'm using or it's the USB adapter itself causing the lag. Either way, more RAM won't hurt.
  7.   Give me a shout if you find out. Thanks.     I'm checking ebay & don't mind used chips, but most of the sellers either have server memory or aren't sure & I'm not that computer literate myself. We're going to upgrade to a new computer after this upcoming school semester, but I'm stuck with my 32bit system for the time being. When buying memory does ECC/non-ECC matter?   Here's what I've got....   HP Pavilion a1712n Vista Home Premium 2x1GB DDR PC2-5200
  8. Maybe one of you computer guys can help me out. I have an older model HP Pavilion desktop computer with a 32 bit system & 2GB of DDR2 RAM, but I want to upgrade to 4GB of RAM without spending a ton of money. Does anyone know where I can pick up some new or even used RAM cheap? Before anyone tells me to buy a new computer...we're planning to, but it will be a few more months. In the meantime I'm going to run this one until the tires fall off.   Question 2...   We just upgraded from 1.3MB DSL up to 5MB broadband & now the computer actually runs slower with the broadband. I'm using a N150 USB Wifi adapter & now the computer is bogging down a lot. Would more RAM help bring some life back because my computer shouldn't run slower on a faster connection?
  9.   +1. Talked to an employee today & he said they were a franchise store & independent from "The Gun Warehouse" in KY. Ordering online from Bud's has not changed in any way.
  10.   +1. Because of my remote location I usually had to drive 150 miles round trip to Knoxville for FFL transfers because my LGS gouges big time. It was actually cheaper to make the drive than to pay local FFL fees. There's another local FFL I've used before, but he has a full time out of town job & is only home certain days of the week so that's not always an option. Making the extra drive to Bud's wouldn't be any more expensive for me, plus it would allow me to look at the gun in person before buying. The nearest public range is almost an hour away so I'll probably make use of that at Bud's too.
  11.   +1...plus a lot of their profit comes from selling ammo, gear, HCP courses, & the shooting range. Bud's great LEO & military support will get lots of local attention too.
  12.   I think part of the reason for the location is because of Bud's relationship with SMKW. Bud's has mentioned in their videos that they're the only retail store in the country besides SMKW to actually have a SMKW knife display. Plus, at more than 9 million visitors a year, the Smoky Mountains is the most visited national park in the world. Bud's probably couldn't have picked a better location.
  13.   Getting the cash price is easy. I always used my CC to hold my order & then mailed a MO to get the cash discount. The last time I ordered a handgun from Bud's, I mailed my MO on a Tuesday & had my pistol in hand at my FFL on Thursday. I actually had my gun less than 12 hours after Bud's got my payment. That's fast service. I live about 90 miles from Sevierville (2 hours) & 129 miles from Lexington (2 hrs. 45 minutes). I live in the middle of nowhere & am used to having to make long drives for everything so 90 miles isn't a big deal + SMKW is next door & one of the largest flea markets in the country is a five minute drive. That has the makings of a fun weekend.
  14.   I've been to their Lexington location several times & noticed that many of their in store prices are lower than their online prices so maybe that will make up for the tax on some guns. I stopped in at their Lexington location a couple weeks ago & was looking at a used Ruger P89. It was priced $329 online, but only $299 in the retail store. Of course this may not be true for all items, but it was for some of the ones I compared. I know their 9mm, 357 mag., & .45 acp ammo prices were very competitive, but .22lr was about $4 higher than WM, but at least Bud's had plenty of it in stock.
  15. The reviews crack me up. I like that one guy said they were affordable, but turned around & complained about not getting a delivery/set up discount for buying two of them.
  16.   While it's not a "brick", I just picked up a 550 count box of Federal .22lr at my local Walmart for $23.
  17. Here's the easy method I like to use. I usually boil my ribs on the stove for about 45 minutes. By then they're fully cooked & tender. Then I put them on a baking sheet, smother on my favorite BBQ sauce, & bake them in the oven 10-15 minutes at 450 degrees or until the sauce thickens to my liking. You can also broil them a couple minutes to cook the sauce onto the ribs. They come out tender & almost fall apart.
  18. I usually have more than three, but if I had to narrow it down I'd use plenty of sliced tomatoes, onions, & hamburger meat.   Usually I make home made pizzas with fresh garden tomatoes (whenever available), onions, mushrooms, red & orange bell peppers, hamburger meat, & parm. cheese sprinkled on top. You'll never, EVER, find an olive of any kind in my home. My wife & I never could acquire a taste for them. Ironically I cook & sauté with olive oil...go figure.
  19.   That's a pretty ignorant response unless you actually took the class yourself & have a complaint about it! Let me guess...you're a tactical expert & know 15 ways to kill a guy with just your thumb. :screwy:
  20. My wife & I took our HCP class here. http://shootingforwomenalliance.com/ The two day class is only $28 per person. It's free if the class has empty seats or you can pay the $28 to be guaranteed a seat, but I've never heard of a class not filling The class we took was at Bass Pro Shop in Kodak, TN. Bass Pro wasn't the one giving the class. It's by certified instructors & a member of the TN Highway Patrol usually monitors the classes.
  21.   My wife & I got lucky & have two young boys (4 & 8 yrs old). My older brother & his wife on the other hand, have two young girls (2 & 4 yrs old). I told him that was payback for all the mean stuff he did to me growing up.
  22. Today I was browsing in a local pawn shop owned by a friend & happen to notice he had a German Luger in the case. This was a real beauty & has been very well taken care of by somebody. I'd call the finish at least 90% & it even had the original leather flap holster & two magazines. It was priced $1,250 so I told him it was very nice, but out of my range, but he winked & told me I could shoot it for free. I thought he was making a joke until he pulled out a box of Speer 9mm & told me to follow him outside. It didn't shoot like most old military pistols I've tried. I was amazed at how smooth the action was & how little recoil it had. We had a good time tearing a two liter bottle to shreds behind his shop. When all was said & done I was really impressed at how well it performed & it made my day to have the opportunity to try out a pistol that I've mostly only read about.
  23. I have to wonder if the owner of this car also manages a restaurant called "The Pit"?
