  1. How about this moron. If you look closely the train conductor actually bumped him with his boot & probably kept him from being hit by a metal rail. (or maybe he just wanted to knock some sense into this idiot) Either way, Darwinism missed him by an inch...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy8Yt-P614w
  2.   I've been to Seviere Indoor Range a couple times & it's where I went for my HCP range test. I live about 2 1/2 hours away so it's been a couple years since I've gone there, but my wife & I enjoyed the visit & the staff were helpful & friendly. It was air conditioned & ventilated & made a hot day at the range a lot more enjoyable.
  3. What makes you think you're any better educated or more worthy to carry than others? I would like to see more readily available training out there too, but keep in mind that the right to bear arms isn't just about how much tactical training an individual has had compared to what you deemed as a standard. It's about the right to be able to defend their lives & the lives of their family in case an uneducated criminal tries to rape or kill them. Are their going to be idiots that would carry? Sure. Are their trained idiots that already carry? Sure. It's not a perfect world & adding more restrictions isn't always the answer.
  4.   I had never seen an OSS knife before I walked in his shop that day. When I bought it I was just hoping it was worth more than the $18 I paid for it.
  5.   I've seen a couple priced as high as $70. The were right next to the $75 SCCY's.  I bet it would scare us to know how many of these time bombs are actually being carried on the street right now.
  6. I stopped in a pawn shop owned by a friend a few days ago & spotted this beauty. I'm not what you would call a big Cold Steel fan & most of my knives are stainless, but I can still appreicate a quality carbon blade. What I've been able to find out is this is one of the first Cold Steel OSS knives produced after they purchased stock from Camillus when they were still making Carbon V. The 8.25" blade's flat ground instead of hollow ground & is in 99% condition. The rubber grip has a few rub marks & the nylon holster's a little rough, but the edge is perfect. Looks like it was carried, but not used much. Maybe someone has more info they can give me about this particular model. It's a little big for much practical use, but may make a good camp knife..or may just end up sitting in one of my drawers at home with some of my other knives. Either way, I plan to make a sheath for it as soon as I can pick up some more leather. Hopefully I'll get to get some use out of it this summer. :x:
  7.   It's the same thing with driver's licenses. The driver/gun owner is the one that has to take resposibility in their own actions. I don't expect the instructor to hold their hands & they shouldn't have to. Owning & carrying a gun is a big responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. Personally I feel much more at risk driving on the same road with idiots talking/texting on cell phones & drunk drivers than from other gun owners. Trust me...there were no war stories or Nija BS at my HCP class.
  8.   Fixed it...   Actually I do agree that taking a life should be avoided if possible, but this scum wasn't invited into their home & IMO, got what he had coming. Play stupid games & win stupid prizes.
  9.   I'm confused. Why would OC be your only option? Is there a reason you can't get a HCP at the moment? (Not trying to cause an arguement. I'm actually just curious.)
  10.   LOL! It appears alot of sheepish LEO's & Sheriff's feel exactly that way.   "If the word got out or if people knew they could come to Tennessee and carry a weapon, I'm sure that armed robberies are going to increase," said Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray. "Apparently they're wanting everyone in the state of Tennessee to carry a firearm. I'm against that. I think it's ridiculous." Source -  http://www.wbir.com/story/news/politics/2014/04/08/senate-votes-for-open-gun-carry-without-permit/7470327/   God forbid criminals find out that guns exist. According to this moron, every bad guy from every corner of the country would just flock here to TN to rob us. Whatever shall we do? Oh, yeah...how about carry a handgun to protect yourself?
  11. Those could be fun to work with. Reminds me of the ESEE Arrowhead. http://www.eseeknives.com/arrowhead.htm
  12. Welcome to TN. Here's some good info about TN gun laws.... http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf   Most areas allow shooting on your own property as long as you're safe (duh...) & outside the city limits. I'm not sure about distance from propery lines, etc., but you might give the local sheriff a call & get familiar with the area. There are also several good gun ranges within driving distance. I wish you well. The East TN area is a great place to be & TN as a whole is very 2nd Amendment friendly. Remember that Beretta is moving down here too. :usa:
  13.   ^^^This. If I lived closer I would gladly come & get them. Like "vontar" said, most bee keepers will come & get them. Bee keeping is a great hobby & there's nothing better than fresh honey on a warm biscuit in the morning. :yum:
  14. Glad to hear all worked out. I own several brands of pistols, but there's just something about a Beretta that gets my adrenaline pumping. I can't wait until they get set up here in TN & see what they're going to produce.
  15.   +1. These will certainly make practicing with SD ammo more affordable. You can use these for practice & save the bonded ones for carry.
  16.   Those Dem. presidents make the whole world a crazy place when they're in office.   The full size & the mini Cougar both use the same slide & 3.6" barrel. The only difference is the length of the grip. The magazines, slides, & barrels are interchangable so you can own one pistol & shoot multiple calibers as long as you have the uppers/barrels for it (except the .45, which is a bit larger). The 8000 mini holds 15 rounds with the full length mag & 10 rounds with the mini mag inserted. The advantages over the 92 series was the Cougar was available in 9mm, .357, .40, & .45 & it's more compact. The rotating barrel lowers recoil forces making them shoot even smoother than the larger 92/96 models. The grips are more ergonomic to me than the 92 models. IMO the Cougars are the most fun to shoot of the Beretta pistols.
  17.   Thanks. IMHO the Cougars are better shooters than the 92/96 models, but I like them all. Last year I traded a mint 92SB for a brand new SIG P220c. Those old blued Berettas really have some character. Maybe I'll find another one someday.
  18. Earlier this week I brought home another Beretta. This time it was a like new 8000F Mini Cougar with a 1997 date code. It appears to have been barely fired, if any at all. It had a good coating of dust inside & out & when I took it apart to clean & lube it, I didn't even get a Q-tip worth of carbon. This is a clean pistol & the bore is slick & shiny. I have plans to add a Cougar D model spring to lighten the trigger pull, perform a "G" conversion (turns safety into a decoker only), & then feed it a generous supply of +P. There's just something about a Beretta.
  19. Thank you for posting this. I ordered four boxes & they arrived yesterday by FedEx. I'm not a SG member & I got them for $12.75 per box & that's including shipping & the .99 cent delivery insurance I opted for. These sell for double that price around here. I'm ordering more! Here's what I got....
  20.   The cheerleaders were from Scott High School & the protest took place outside the gate at the school in Huntsville. Those morons drove all the way across the country & spent about five whole minutes "protesting" (which was actually a silent prayer) & then went back home. It was a huge waste of time & showed they obviously just wanted to get attention & almost got a lynching. IMO these vultures serve no purpose, but to do the devil's work.
  21.   This was exactly my first thought when I heard the news. I was there when some of his "followers" came to my town a few years ago to protest because five local high school cheerleaders burned to death in a car crash. For more than a week before the protest, Westboro made dozens of online posts about how the teenage girls were all burning in hell for being "sluts & whores" trying to get media attention along with making people angry. About 250 pissed off citizens (some of them armed & carrying bats) showed up. Our county sheriff already had S.W.A.T. & members of the TN Highway Patrol on hand because of the huge number of death threats posted toward the Westboro church members. The terrified Westboro church members got out of their van, formed a circle & said a short quiet prayer & then quickly got back into their van & drove straight out of town. I can only hope his cult quickly follows him into oblivion. Good riddance!
  22.   Bud's online savings are (were) a lot more than a "few bucks". I saved over $400 on the last two pistols I ordered from Bud's & that's including the transfer fee & BGC. That's enought to buy a 4th pistol or a crap load of ammo. I've traded some locally & at shows, but as far as purchasing goes, I've bought more pistols online than from GS & private sellers because that's where the real deals were.   One positive thing I can say about Bud's is the appreciation they show for LEO & military. Bud's has a great LEO & military discount which will help a lot of guys save money.
  23. Coal Creek Armory installs sights, etc... They put a set of Trijicons on my pistol for $25.
