  1. I haven't heard much about the new knife laws. Does anyone have the link on the new laws & what will be legal to carry in TN? Thanks in advance.
  2.   Same here. My local WM doesn't have it either. There are only two places in my county that have free wifi (McDonald's & the library) & both have blockers on all forums. When I moved into the house I'm in now we had to wait a couple weeks to get our internet hooked up so I used local wifi & the pubic library to get online. Both blocked any & all forum style sites so I couldn't get on any of my favorite gun forums for a couple weeks. Talk about having withdrawl. :ugh:
  3. I've got a couple boxes. After I bought them I started wondering about the posibility of squibs so I never shot them. The ones I have are the 20 gr. Aguila Super Colibri. I doubt I'll ever use them in my rifle.   Added...The 20gr. is rated at 590fps. http://www.aguilaammo.com/rimfire.html
  4. Good for the family. I hope charges aren't pressed against them for the neighbors window. (You know how it works out sometimes) As for the suspect that's in critical condition...I have no sympathy for this type of scum.  If this piece of trash survives I hope that he learned a very painful lesson that won't be repeated.
  5.   Forget the chain saw. Got any det. cord?
  6.   That's what I've been thinking for a while. Any fool knows this wouldn't help with 2nd amendment rights. Scare tactics never do any good.
  7. This may sound odd, but are there any Amish communities near you? If so, I would highly suggest paying them a visit. I picked up a pair of 2" & 1.5" wide handmade belts made from 11 oz. bullhide for only $22 each & they're just as nice as any $80-$100 belts I've looked at in outdoor shops or online. The 1.5" is plain & the 2" has a nice basket weave pattern & both came with heavy duty buckles. I've been wearing the 2" belt for a year now & it's still stiff as the day I bought it. I bought mine at "Muddy Pond" near Crossville. You can't beat the quality.
  8. I remember them. That's the same place that posted really insulting signs trash talking gun owners?
  9. It all depends on where you live. I'm from a smaller town & we haven't had much of a .22 shortage where I live, but it's impossible to find elsewhere. My local WM had a stack of 550 round Federal value boxes sitting at the counter this morning priced for $23 a box & I was a little surprised there wasn't a single person waiting to buy it, but of course, I didn't buy any either because I mainly shoot 9mm & .45. It's clear that the panic buying has pretty much stopped where I live. Hopefully that's a sign that things will be getting back to normal everywhere soon.
  10. I just got back from a day of searching & found a good candidate. Here it is..... http://www.libertysafe.com/buy-a-safe-explorer-20-color-pg-76.html My local gun shop just got this one, used from a customer. I looked it over & it's in 100% mint condition, inside & out. Not a scratch anywhere on it. They want $550 + tax & said they could deliver for an extra $50, so that would come out to around $650 (I think I could get it for a bit less though). It has the heavy dial/lock instead of an electronic keypad & hidden hinges.   Here's my other option I found for. It's brand new for $650 delivered. http://www.fortresssafe.com/shop/gun-security/fs24e-24-gun-safe/   Because of the hidden hinges & steel dial & I'm leaning toward the Liberty. Any opinions on these two?
  11. Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to make a trip to Knoxville so I can stop by some dealers. The two main problems I've run into are dealers don't list any prices online & my own isolated location. I live over 50 miles from any large town & 75 miles from Knoxville so I can't just head out & shop for a gun safe any time I want. So far Walmart probably has the best deal I've found on a name brand safe, but even though I only live a 1/2 mile from the store, since they don't deliver they might as well be a hundred miles away. Needless to say shopping for a safe is becoming a hell of a frustration.
  12. Any chance it's a French MAB D? Here's a link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAB_Model_D_pistol   If so, they usually run in the $150-$200 range. My dad has one in .32. It's a decent shooter for the range (when it's not jamming), but not what I would call a highly reliable pistol for SD.
  13. I've sold & traded many times here on the forum & have met some great people in the process, but have also had good luck privately selling mine at shows. Vendors usually won't give you anything for your guns, since they can get them wholesale, but lots of private individuals are always looking for a deal. People usually stop me before I get inside to see what I have. Once before a show, my dad & I were getting a few guns out of my car & some guys on their way in stopped & asked about them. Between the two of us we sold two & made a trade right there in the parking lot before we even made it to the front door.
  14. They were tempting Darwinism. It'll catch up with them one of these days if they don't learn to use common sense.
  15. I've decided that I need to get a good quality gun safe. All my range guns are stored safely unloaded & away from my two young boys, but it's time I get them organized & secure. I only have two long guns, but my wife & I own quite a few handguns. I've found a couple safes on Walmart's website that look very promising & a couple I like at Dick's & Bass Pro. All of the ones's at both websites are rated 30 min. @1,400 degrees & look like they will hold all my guns & ammo. I'm on a limited budget & will have to sell one of my guns to fund my purchase or find someone willing to make a trade. So far the ones I've looked at have been in the $500-$750 range & I really can't go any higher than that (and hope to find one for less). Any good suggestions on an affordable gun safe for my needs?
  16.   Same here. The nearest Academy to me is 150 miles round trip. About 70% of everything I buy comes from online sources. It's cheaper then making the drive.
  17. Unfortunately the master minds at Walmart's corp. headquarters have decided that rifle cases are considered "seasonal" items & many Walmarts now only carry them during hunting season from Nov.-March (give or take a month). They want you to order from their website so they can save money. It's the same with pistol rugs. Many Walmarts only carry them part of the year now because handguns are now listed as a "seasonal" item. All they're doing is driving away business. ...and they wonder why their stock keeps dropping.
  18. TN has no such thing as a gun registry. Guns are considered private property & can be sold, traded, or given as you wish so long as the person can legally own it. (No violent felons, must be 18 years of age to own, 21 to carry, etc...) Like stated above, you & your wife can share guns without issue.
  19.   +1. There are cheaper companies, but Allstate suits me. I have uninsured motorist & double medical/accidental coverage. When I was rearended a few years ago it was by two cars. A woman hit the guy behind me & slammed him into the rear of my truck. I was the only person out of the three that had any form of insurance & even though I only had liability, the uninsured motorist coverage took care of me so my truck got repaired. My rates didn't go up a penny either since it was the other driver's fault. The police officer that worked the accident pressed charges against both drivers on my behalf so I didn't have to appear in court. When the other drivers went court the driver that hit me told the judge to shove it & refused to pay my deductable so Allstate simply figured it into the repair cost & I wasn't out a penny.
  20. Farm Bureau has been doing this almost randomly for the past few years. My parents used FB for many years & thier insurance suddenly rose a lot without any cause a few years ago & they finally dropped FB like a rock. I'm not a home owner, but I've been very pleased with Allstate & their service for our autos. About 10 years ago we were driving & got caught in a massive hail storm that totaled our '96 Corolla (Over $6,500 in damage). My Allstate agent drove 70 miles to meet me in my home town & made all the arrangements with the dealer along with a paid rental car. Then I got rearened while sitting at a redlight a couple years later &, again, they made the 140 mile round trip to my town & after I gave him my estimates, he even printed me a check right on the spot. They give good driver's discounts a couple times a year too. So far, both me & my wife have perfect driving records & that helps a lot. Our rates have never gone up in the 15+ years I've been with them.
  21. Most HCP instructors will let you use any handgun you're comfortable with, but my advice would be to get some practice & use the handgun that you plan to carry. That's what I did & it made me feel more confident about being able to safely carry it. (One guy in my class used a .22 for his test because he didn't think he could hit the target with the .45 he was planning to carry for SD because it was too powerful. WTF?!) Every range class is a little different, but the shooting tests are usually pretty simple. My shooting test started with 10 rounds each at 5 yards, 7 yards, 9 yards, & then 19 rnds at 15 yards.
  22. I guess she couldn't decide between grease or oil to keep her pistol lubed & opted for option number three. :dunno:
  23. Cool item. Where did you get it? Brand? My wife bought me a smoker grill a few years ago. I've been wanting to do some real smoking in it, not just grilling.
