  1. Probably.  Unless his doc has flagged him in the system somehow.
  2. If you go to savannah, you need to visit Fort Pulaski and Fort James Jackson. Fort Pulaksi is a big place and takes a few hours to get through. Fort James Jackson is much smaller but still very interesting. If you're like me, the reenactor will drop an 1855 Enfield rifle on you. :) The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum is really cool too. Charleston is really nice too, lots to do. For us, HHI has become the "go to" beach vacation spot.
  3.     Right.  You either need to both enjoy golf or sitting on a quiet beach with little else to do.  There's not much there, but some like it that way.
  4.     I've been through that area a few times recently.  I'm astonished by how much it's grown... it is just an Atlanta suburb now.  But as others have stated, I'd never survive in that traffic.
  5. KLR's are great bikes right up until they fall over. Then you realize how heavy they are. They've got a few known issues that are relatively easily solved with every farkle in the world available for them.
  6. I feel privileged to have met several of the folks others want to meet... OS, Dolomite, Spots, Mike.357, gjohnsoniv, .... Good lot, all of them. As for me, I'm happy to me most anyone here.
  7. What weight of oil is in it? Is it garaged or outside?
  8. Prayers for a quick and positive resolution.
  9. I fished there 15 years ago. I recall having no real difficulty catching fish, but I didn't care what kind they were. And yes, it's a pretty little park.
  10. Yep, true and was implemented several years ago. So you guys need to send all the ammo you've bought since 2010 to me for proper disposal. :)
  11. Kill them before they kill you.
  12. Air Force 1 flew over my house on its way out at 5:33. I was very surprised to see no obvious escorts.
  13.     The news this morning said he's scheduled to speak at Pellissippi at about 1pm, so I'd guess arrival anywhere between 10am-noon.  My guess is the roar of the fighters will give it away.    I'm almost due south of the airport and right in the pattern, so it depends on which direction the wind is blowing.   If they approach from the south, they'll fly right over us.  If from the north, we won't see it until they leave.  Current wind says SW12.
  14.     Congrats!  That is indeed a beautiful sunset.    Start slow, one thing at a time.  It'll take several years to get to where you want to be.    I'd start with a garden.  While a tractor isn't compulsory, it sure would make things a lot easier.  I don't know how big the trees are that you're pulling with the FJ, but I'd be real careful about not killing the transmission... they're not make for that kind of work (but a tractor is  ;) ).    You'll likely need to call a pond expert to see what the story is there.  Fixing a leaky pond can be a lot of work.
  15.     If you're not comfortable with the dogs running loose, ask the owners to contain them.  If they don't, call the local animal control.  Dogs not permitted to "run at large" in TN... it's a state law.
  16. I work a couple miles from the airport.  I kinda want to see Air Force 1 fly over, just for the novelty of it.  I've seen it one time before when Reagan visited Chattanooga when I was a kid.  We don't see many 747's here.  Otherwise, I'm glad they're headed the opposite direction.
  17. Amazing how a little walk in the other guy's shoes can change one's perspective.  Even if it's only a 10 second walk.  Kudos to the activist guy for agreeing to the training and even more so having the news crew along.    ...and holy crap that "BG" was big!
  18. Apparently there was another one this morning in France.  I get the "copy cat" vibe, but who knows...     http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2015/01/08/french-terror-suspects-manhunt/21429427/
  19.   Coyotes have put a big dent in the fox population.  One more reason to kill more coyotes.
  20. Cool. They're fantastic rodent population control.
  21. Right. The shipping notice is from ups.
  22. Paying your (our) social security would imply they've got a job. My retirement plan assume neither social security nor Medicare. I think both will either be completely gone or nothing like what our parents get. Edit ... and I'll admit to having hit a girl in anger once. She sucker kicked me in the balls for no reason and I punched her square in the mouth before I collapsed. It busted her lip and nose but thankfully didn't knock out any teeth.

    We're #4

I think Alaska's ranking has to do with their relatively low population by comparison.  There's less than 1M people in AK and the vast majority live in a couple areas.  Also notice from the article that the rate of violent crime in the Memphis area is 3x higher than the state average.
  24. This is our rotten useless good-for-nothing hunk of dog flesh, aka hound of the baskervilles, aka bad dog, aka Opal. Her coloring as a puppy very much resembled a black opal and she's gotten darker as she's gotten older. She's 13 now. We believe she's a dalmatian (or is that damnation?) blue heeler mix which I wouldn't recommend to anyone. We got her from a shelter as a very sick puppy. As a puppy she was deathly afraid of tall men in dark pants which tells me there's abuse in her past. Major separation anxiety followed that we never really fixed, just learned how to better deal with it. A few years later epilepsy showed up. Then we had kids and she's bitten my oldest boy twice, the 2nd time requiring a few stitches. Now it's just cranky old age and arthritis. In her prime, she was the fastest dog I've ever seen. I've seen her run down a deer in an open field.
  25.     I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I'd consider that one cop to be very brave or very stupid.  Going up against 2 guys with rifles and body armor with only a pistol?  Either way, it cost him his life.
