  1. I can't stand either of these places. All I wanna do is join an indoor range for easy weekday shooting and both these guys were so rude I walked out. I can't wait until this new place opens up, I hope it's decent.
  2. Smith is the one that is impossible for me to keep up with. I read somewhere that they were so bad in the 50's they used to issue a dial to dealers so you could turn the dial to a model number and it would give you the specifics of that model. I don't really think Glock's are all that bad.
  3. I just wasn't real crazy about this gun. The long trigger pull drove me crazy. Other than that it did go bang every time after the week long trigger pull.
  4. Good article. I wonder how the liberals would react to being forced to buy a firearm or pay a $2000 fine to the gov.
  5. Correct. Also right down the street from the Read House are some more excellent dining choices. Niko's Southside, St. Johns, and Table Two come highly recommended by me.
  6. You have all kinds of good options at that price really. You could get a Springfiled Mil Spec for around $500 or a loaded for around a $1000. A used Kimber CDP II for around $1000. Smith & Wesson 1911's are pretty good for around $800. Sig has some decent 1911 options for around $1000. The Para GI expert is a good bare bones 1911 that can be had for around $550. Also for around $450 or so the Rock Island is a good option. I would tend to stay away from the Taurus as I feel there are plenty of better options at that price range. Yuo just have to look around but for $1000 you should be able to walk away with a good middle of the road 1911.
  7. Some of my fondest memories are from walking around campus on the first warm day of spring!!!
  8. Sickness Quotient: 73% Your Sickness Quotient of 73% indicates therapy may be useful. Detailed Diagnosis Interpersonal Insights Your sense of self-entitlement means you're probably the kind of person that pulled the wings off of butterflies when you were little. You think everyone is out to get you, and you're absolutely right. It's because you're an awful person without any redeeming qualities. Job Performance & Attitude Rather than do a one-time job that takes ten minutes, you'd work for 5 years to automate it. You have little empathy for anyone more successful at work than you, which is pretty much everyone. Personality Insight Your personal motto is "You are what you do when it counts." And everyone thinks you're an idiot when you say it. Wow.
  9. And even worse is it's not anything respectable like the Metro or National news section, it's the comics.
  10. There's a show this weekend at the Armory in Cleveland. Go see for yourself. They aren't all the same. Chattanooga area is in dire need of a good show. Still there are deals to be had, even with the prices you just have to haggle some. I see Mosins for $115 to $135 out the door fairly often. And I have never heard of any age restriction on just going.
  11. I hope that isn't the case. How hypocritical would it be if her husband were overseas protecting the country, using guns, and he came home to his personal firearm being sold behind his back. That would be pretty low.
  12. I'll take Sandra all the way. Classic beauty, I have never been much on the ink'd up ladies. But I wouldn't turn her down on the way out of the bar either!!!
  13. That is messed up. I wouldn't hit my wife but I would shake the sh*t out of her.
  14. Welcome Yorkie, and thanks for the post. I saw from your link that range memberships will be pre-sold at the opening. Any idea on cost?
  15. Well after checking with my wife when she got home it turns out we do have a furminator. We just don't find the time to use it. Now off to find a good deal on that Dyson vac.
  16. Sounds like I need to look into a furminator and a Dyson. My wife will be ecstatic, she has wanted a Dyson for awhile and I wouldn't cave. We have some kind of a brush for fur that she got from somewhere, it may be a furminator I don't know. When we use it on the Golden it works great. The GSD won't be still long enough to be brushed. Thanks for the tips guys.
  17. Not a chance. I love this little dog. She has been the easiest dog I have ever trained. She will do anything for a treat and picks up on what you want in just a few tries. She is very smart and extremely alert. I can tell she is gonna be a fantastic dog for years to come. Also I basically have what would have been a really nice 1911 invested in this dog by now. I also shudder to think what would happen to me if my wife got home from work and this dog wasn't greeting her at the door.
  18. I've been there when someone was on the rifle range and the guy 2 stations down from me on the pistol range just starts blasting away. That was awesome. I also had a guy walk out in front of me once while I was shooting. I saw him when he started waving his target at me as he walked diagonally into my line of fire from the entrance. I packed up and left. That is a special place sometimes.
  19. ... sadly, I was not. I thought my Golden Retreiver had prepared me for a dog that sheds heavily. I was so wrong. I got a German Shepherd pup when my wife issued the puppy or baby utlimatum. This dog is just now 5 months old and sheds a sweater every 3 days. The fence account is gaining attention over the new gun account by the day.
  20. If you want a nice historic hotel that is right downtown and right off I-24 I would recommend the Read House. Very nice, old and has a great steak house in the lobby. All of Downtown is within a short walk or you can hop on the free shuttle. A couple good bars are right across the street if you are into that. For something different I would check out how much rooms are in the new Delta Queen hotel in Coolidge Park. This is still relatively new so I have no first hand experience here but basically the Delta Queen boat parked here and has been converted to a hotel and restaurant. There are a few other chain hotels by the river and aquarium but for something not run of the mill these are my suggestions. I have more info if you need it, been here all my life, just ask.
  21. That's a really good look I think.
  22. I've had my Wilderness First Responder since 2002. This is the best First Aid you can get at a reasonable price, for a SHTF scenario. The next step up is Basic EMT. The good thing about WFR is that it cover alot of the first aid stuff and you have to learn how to take vitals, set up a litter basket, and the entire series of figure 8 knots. Which I would also add the a thorough knowledge of knots to any list of survival skills.
  23. I have a GSR and I can tell you that it is a GREAT shooting gun.
