  1.   That will likely work for a small of the back sheath, like the one above, but that's the only position where the stiff sheath (due to blade inside) would not encounter a curved part of your body. You might be surprised how even a slight curve, like at your 4:00 position, makes it impossible for more than one loop for the belt to pass through. You usually end up with a single spot on the sheath where you can put a loop, so it has to be very strong.
  2. Naturally, it doesn't really matter how it went down. I was just being overly curious. Tragic event.   Makes me glad I have the kind of job where the most dangerous thing that I encounter at work is taking the last cup of coffee in the break room and the next person in line getting mad because they have to wait for one to brew.
  3. Horizontal sheaths require a lot more design and work than a vertical one. I assume that's why they are more expensive and fewer companies make them. Using leather as an example, a simple vertical leather sheath can be made from a single piece of leather, adding only a welt. Even without the extra bells and whistles, a horizontal one like this, requires 3 or 4 times the labor. I spent nearly 35 hours on this one. I've tried horizontal Kydex holsters, but they are hard to design to be comfy, because you can't integrate the belt attachment with the body of the sheath. It has to be much beefier, so it has to be attached to the sheath differently. About the only really good way to make one is to add a Tek-Lok attachment and even then you have to design the sheath in a way that the Tek-Lok has a flat area to attach. All-in-all, I'm just saying, I love horizontal sheaths, but they are a pain in the ass to make and almost unaffordable to buy. Edit: I hope somebody does share an affordable source for well-made horizontal kydex sheaths. I'd rather buy one than to make one.
  4. I try not to jump to conclusions after the kind of poor reporting MSN does, so help me understand:   Was the unresponsive person the one who later fired shots? Did the responders identify themselves or did the the shooter assume they were burglars? Was the person shooting maliciously or had mental/emotional issues?   Regardless of the missing facts I'm just curious about, I hate to hear stories like this. First responders of any kind have a tough enough job as it is when they AREN'T getting shot at.
  5. There was a watch?
  6. After using this a couple of weeks I've decided it ain't too bad. When I bring the handle up, I just push the flipper with my middle finger. I don't even have to take my hand off the handle at all and I don't have to reach between the handle and press body to remove the case. I'm sure there's a better idea, but for this cheap lil press, it'll work fine.
  7.   I've ordered from AIM a lot, had really good luck with the quality for the price, but it's hard to catch stuff in stock there for sure.   I seldom have to resort to Brownell's prices, but I like knowing I can get what I need there, if I'm willing to pay that much. :D
  8.   I just ordered a bunch of small parts and noticed a couple of items were sold out. Nonetheless, there was at least 3 options for every part I needed that weren't sold out. Try Primary Arms.
  9. Seemed like too many holes in that boat to be anything but automatic gunfire. Since it's CA, nobody has more than 10 rounds in their magazines, right? So,it must've been the gov't that sank shot up the boat. Has it been long enough for organized harriers to band together?
  10.   My experience with cats has been more like AtomicRooster. So, the last thing I'd want is a cat that was not only a butthole, but was capable of taking me out whenever it wanted.
  11.   Interesting train of thought. I don't buy into the hair theory, but the rest is very rational.
  12.   Awesome news!!
  13.     Leaves very little room to speculate about the feelings he has about BHO, huh?
  14.   Unless I actually pulled him over because he was DUI, I would do the same. I'd assume that, since it's still cold in MT, he was just trying to stay warm and would have helped him out. It never would have gotten to the point of listening to stories about sleeping pills and stuff and none of you would have heard about this story.   Nonetheless, I get why someone would feel otherwise. I'd make DUI penalties way worse if it were up to me, but only MOVING VIOLATIONS.
  15. I got an email from them vaguely mentioning a storewide sale this weekend. Turns out the sale is gold prices for retail customers and elite prices for members.   I was VERY excited to see 7-9 oz double shoulders on sale for $45.99 retail / $39.99 members. They had 3 stacks of them that were about 3 feet high when I was there Friday. I may go back today and get more.   That's super cheap, in case anyone is considering giving leatherwork a try. To put it in perspective, I can probably make $500 worth of sheaths/holsters out of a double shoulder.
  16.   FYI...this weekend Tandy on Harding Pl has 7-9 oz double shoulders for $39.99-$45.99. hey had hundreds of them in stock. I may go back and grab some more. That's as cheap as I've bought leather in a LONG time.
  17. What I took from the video was summed up nearly 1500 yrs ago...   “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
  18. Negan doesn't know Rick or his crew well enough to choose someone just valuable enough to send the right message without being so valuable that the group will never be right without them.
  19.   I agree 100%...but, I still feel the same way about people who buy Glocks.
  20.   I'll cut extra stuff to dull my knives in the meantime :D   Seriously though, any thoughts on how the logistics of this service will work? I'm just around the corner from you in La Vergne, so sharpening by appointment while I wait would be cool.
  21. The wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the episode.   I love how they showed Rick all cocky and feeling tough early. He'd just whooped some Saviour a$$, got out unscathed, and showed them who was boss. He drove away from the first roadblock feeling all magnanimous, like he'd just spared their lives. Each subsequent roadblock he felt more scared, less in control, and more blocked in. They abandoned the RV STILL thinking they'd out-smarted Negan only to find out they'd been played the whole time and had been herded like sheep straight to the wolves.   When he was captured by the Terminus cannibals, he was all righteous and tough, but he's finally met a vastly superior foe. Rick was broken by the end and helpless.
  22. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to tell the cheese done slid off her cracker.
  23. https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/professor-dials-911-over-rotc-program/   This University of North Dakoto English Professor called 911 to report seeing armed figures in camo with guns after the university announced to staff that there'd be drills on campus.   I hope they arrest this nutjob if she follows through with her threat to continue to call 911, despite being told by the university not to.
  24. I've never seen one either, but Blade-Tech and 5.11 also make drop and offset rigs that accept Tek-Lok holsters. Might be cheaper to have someone make you a leather holster like you describe.
  25. I'm not a huge FDE fan, but I see even more differences in shades of FDE/tan than I'd expect too.
