Inspired by the explosive growth of the Franklin Gun Shop thread due to negative experiences, I googled and found an enlightening and, at times, funny thread of "gun shop experiences". Here is one sad, dangerously funny example ... "Anyway, my friend goes to a very large gunshop, and the ammo shelves are empty. Hea asks thekid behind the counter, "Got any .270?" "Nope, all sold out." At this point the manager comes over and chastises the kid for knowing nothing about guns and being generally stupid. The manager tells my buddy, ".270 is based on the .30-06. You can fire .30-06 through a .270. My friend starts to laugh at the joke, and the guy says, "No, really! You have to slam the bolt really hard to get it closed, but when you fire it, the .30-06 squeezes down to .270 and the accuracy is better 'cause it fits the barrel tighter." Here's the link if interested ... http://www.militarya...c.php?f=9&t=256
off topic but reminded me of a funny story. I just got my license and went to go drive around after school with a friend of mine. as we drove around we drove by a new sub that just laid some road but the road was all muddy because of a major rain and a lot of dirt moving around. well as we were screwing around in the muddy streets I lost control and wound up on top of a mud pile off the road. long story short, the first 2 model homes were being built and a couple of framers came over and watched as we struggled to get out. He told me that if I could put it in reverse, and if i press the brake while giving it gas my front wheels would turn. well at 16, ,driving for 30 minutes and freaking out about a truck stuck on a side of the road I tried. Everytime I would let off the clutch while giving it gas and hitting the break it would stall. They would laugh and tell me I was not doing it right..

what ever you feel comfortable with. I have had a droid for 3 years and have loved it. I however am about to assimilate and go i5. Just because my wife has one and my kids have ipods with face time. My wife face times with the kids while she is out and quite frankly, that is pretty cool. To be honest, I like how my droid incredible works much better than the iphone. All my contacts are easily combined between my work, FB and personal contacts. My email works great and up until a bit ago when I dropped my droid in the water, but it still works, just not as good What I like most is you can by the base line Gigabite droid and then spend $30 bucks for a 32 gb SD card. If you want a 32 gb iphone, the cost goes from $200 to 300. Iphones do not expand in memory unless you buy a new iphone. the only thing I will say is not every droid is equal, and that is where people get fed up, just like with PCs. When you buy a computer, you either buy a windows box or an apple. WHen you buy a windows box you either buy a dell, HP, Acer, etc. (just like if you buy a droid you buy a HTC, Samsung, etc) They are all windows but based on the manufacture the parts and quality of the PC may differ. But with Apple, no matter what color, shape or size, it is all Apple all the time. if you buy a cheap droid device you tend to get what you pay for so I would recommend the nicer models. They may cost more but just as computers, the cheaper they more likely it is not going to work for you the way you would like. Case in point,I bought a galaxy tab instead of an Ipad. The tab has been awesome but I spent more than my friend who bought the same type of tablet just an off brand. He hates his because it is not working well but mine has been a rock. Long story short, play with both and pick what is more comfortable. There are actually more droids in the hands of people than Iphones (or were) so just go for what you like form/function and price wise.

I bought my first house while I was still in college and working full time. I lived in a new sub that was kinda in the middle of no where. I came home from school one night after a long day. basically walked in the door at 945pm, brushed my chops and went straight to bed. About 1030 I heard someone trying to open up the back door into the garage. I jumped up, grabbed the shotgun and waited by the bedroom door which gave me a clear view to the backdoor. luckily who ever it was could not get in the back door and decided to give up. been hyper vigilant about ensuring doors and windows are always locked,

Who carries a full sized gun?
1pointofview replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have a ruger sr40 and lcp .380. It really depends on what I am wearing that day. Is I have gym shorts or need to make sure it is not seen I carry my .380. If I am in jeans and keep my shirt untucked, I carry my sr40. I try and carry my 40 as much as I can -
I shudder to think about 4 more years of Obama. But people talking g about romney being just as bad are off base. Romney may not be who you want him to be but he is not Obama. But even if romney is elected, unless we start cleaning house in congress we will not be much better off either way. Half of our problems are coming from congress and the other half from wh

Romney's delivery of the 47% was a bit off but the concept was right on. I had a friend post on FB about how he was an "undecided" voter but will no way vote for Romney after his remarks which is horse poop. He and his wife are huge obama supporters and though they may be disappointed with obama, they will either vote for him or sit this one out before they for for anything not far left of center. What Romney was saying is that there is a large portion of the population that depend on the government for entitlements that subsidize a large portion of the population. He was not directly talking about people who pay into a system (that the government demands you pay into). If I pay into something i dang well better get it back. But those who pay nothing in yet get state and federal subsidize to maintain a level of living they are unwilling to sustain on their own is what he was talking about.

My hcp instructor made a good point about carrying without one in the chamber. He said if you need your firearm and time is of the essences, every additional step will take 3x as long under pressure. So if you have a safety on and no round in the chamber and the gun is tucked away , those 3 steps may make t where you will not be ready to defend yourself for 5-10 seconds. Do you want to waste that time fiddlen around with stuff? I did have reservations at first pocket carrying my .380 without a safety but after discussion I felt more comfortable. Now that I found a good holster for my .40 is carry that more. All with one in the chamber

Was in a discussion this week end at church about morality and how the government plays into it. I think there needs to be a safetynet but it needs to be strictly for those who can not do for themselves, not to provide for those who don't do for themselves. If you think the governments aid roles are not full of people that take government money but are able bodied or just criminal for taking tax dollars because the government makes mistakes then you are being disingenuous. There are plenty of people who "pay into the system" their entire life and die before they even see a dime back. Until a month ago my mother in law was on disability because of a health issue from ten years ago. The last 5 years she has been more than able but when you get government money it is easy to take it if they don't turn off the faucet.

A question for the Romney apologists
1pointofview replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have a question for those who continue try and poo poo on the only guy who is running against obama in this election. I get the whole lesser of 2 evils stuff that everyone is tired of but please don't come to me with the Ron Paul/Gary Johnson horse crap. Ron Paul and Gary Johnson have just as many foriegn policy and (in the case of Gary Johnson) open door immigration failed policy stances. The point is and has been for the last 50 years, we as a nation have to start moving in a direction. We can not jump together, we have to move in a common direction. Please don't tell me that Romney and Obama are "the same direction". If that is the case then the Paul/Johnson direction of legalizing drugs or mass undocumented immigration is the same direction of the left. With Romney, a Libertarian agenda is much more accepted. But beyond Mitt Romney, we have to elect a Conservative house and senate. Just like under Bush, we had a lot of conservative ideas and principles until we allowed the house and senate to be co-opted by progressives from the left and right and then Bush's own progressive tendencies started to show. I want people to hold Mitt Romney acccountable but I want to hold the people of this state accountable as well. We are the ones sending worthless progressives like Lamar Alexander, Corker, and the 2 liberal Democrats to washington. So until we as a state fix our own representative issues, let's stop whining about how the President is not exactly what we want. We have 49 other states voting, we have the opportunity to at least fix our direct representation and we fail every election. It is hard to get a Republican into the white house and expect him to govern as conservative as possible when we are sending slobs like Alexander in there feeding progressive legislation -

I am not taking it anywhere with the affirmative action thing. The only place I am going is that if you want freedom and equality you have to stop creating policies that destroy freedom and equality. I think there is high black unemployment because of the policies put in place to "help" them. -

1pointofview replied to kieefer's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The same people pushing for "equality for gays" are the same people that want to restrict gun ownership , taxing the rich because they are the minority or setting up affirmative action policies that restriction one group based on skin color and entitles another based on skin color. Freedom and equality can not be legislated. If you want freedom and equality take government out of the equation. -
Been itching for a place to talk about my last proctology exam..

I don't care if you are gay, but the problem is that gays want me to care and want me to accept you for being gay. It is on the same level for me as someone being an Alabama fan. I only have to accept you as a person and I do. I don't have to worship the type of person you are. Specially if you are a type of person who like alabama -
I sure do. I think if TN was lucky enough to actually find and elect a true conservative with fire and drive, I think the city of nashville and memphis will dang near cause a mass deficating flood in their collective pants

oh dear lord, I am Ron Paul fan but Paulies are creating their own issues. When you are a nation this size with the diverse point of views as we have, you are not going to change hearts and minds by force. You will only change hearts and minds with proven success. The Paulies running around attacking the GOP because what drives the RP Libertarians does not DIRECTLY align with your run of the mill GOPer, Paulies then go after them just as hard as they attack the far lefturd. THis is what puts RP on a island. Saw Ron Paul last night talking on Fox about how he is not going to support the Mitt ticket. I understand and appreciate his point, but what he should have said is he will work with a Romney/Ryan administration to achieve what is needed. Instead he would rather piss on a GOP ticket that can help his cause and risk allowing another Obama administration that will fully destroy his cause.

Which issues are most important to you?

The only thing the federal government should be worried with is protecting economic freedoms, the protection of the citizenry and the enforcement of common laws. -

Shew, sorry but the last month or so I started carrying in church. Mainly because if I am not at work I have my protection on my person. Long story short, almost thought it was a law I was not aware of. Thanks -

2016 Obama's America Have you seen it ?
1pointofview replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I went to a free showing at the opry mills mall last month that was sponsered by WLAC. Dinesh was there and got a chance to meet him. Sat behind Larry Gatlin and Ray Stevens who were at the movie as well. I enjoyed the movie but I have been reading and following politics over the last 5 years so closely that I either knew most of the stuff in the Doc or was not suprised about the stuff I did not know. What gives the movie credibility is the parallels Dinesh lays out about his background and the back ground of Obama yet their outlook of life are polar opposite. My only fear is that the media has covered for and created a narrative for obama for the last few years and that has created an opinion of obama for too many people that make a lot of those people believe this stuff is made up, even when so much proof is provided. I just hope the movie attracts a large number of people who are in the "midde". There are still millions of people who vote blindly and don't follow the news. I hope this movie does well because the more interest it generates the more likelyhood those people who go for the "entertainment" value will actually see it
