  1. $269 for a Savage 12FV is an amazing price. Might be time for another build.
  2. Yes, you could but when you SBR it you can no longer carry it because it is no longer a pistol. I could, although I would not, strap it across my back, walk around openly and it would be perfectly legal. A previous version I built was carried by me EVERYWHERE. I kept it, along with spare magazines and other "survival" gear, in a bag designed for a laptop. Here is an article on it. http://shortbarrelshepherd.com/dolomite_supafly-and-his-mini-draco-ak47-pistol/ I feel the Mini Draco is about as short as one would want to go for a defensive gun. You can still reduce the flash to manageable levels and the velocity is still above 1,900 fps in this short of a barrel. I keep all my defensive AKs loaded with SGAmmo 8M3 "effect" ammunition. It is the ONLY 7.62x39 ammunition I would bet my life on. It has sealed primers and sealed bullets. Here is a test of the original 8M3. Here is a test of the current 8M3. SGAmmo had the original manufacturer remake the bullet. That bullet was then sent to Tula to be loaded.
  3. I have several on several guns and on some guns I like it but on others the Zhukov sucks. And it is not an issue with the stock but the gun. Some guns have the rear trunion perfectly level and the Zhukov is awesome. I have one gun where the trunion is tilted up and with the Zhukov it makes lining up the sights difficult. But the stock itself works great and is durable. My guns get used and if the Zhukov was going to break I would have broken it already. If you want to try a few different kinds of folders come by sometime. I have several Stormwerkz folders and love them.
  4. Here is a pistol project I just started. It is a Remington Model 7 with an 8 twist 8” barrel with PT&G bottom metal. Still trying to figure out what trigger to use. I also plan on installing a Sako style extractor. The stock is also something I need to sort out. I have some very nice walnut to work with, thanks @mhmd The barrel still needs to be profiled, going to use an M24 profile just shortened to fit an 8” barrel, thanks @LawEnforcementSalesTN My goal is to build several barrels of different calibers and be able to change barrels in minutes. Plans are a 300 Blackout barrel, 223 barrel and a 9mm barrel. And of course all will be silenced.
  5. Depends, current production is about $600 new. Older production is a lot less, even if it doesn't have issues. I would NEVER buy a WASR that is not a current production model because A LOT of the older guns had problems. Current production guns are the best bang for the buck on the AK market. A current production WASR will have a year at the end of the serial number. It can either be a two digit year or a four digit year but all current production WASRs have it.
  6. I believe police officers should not be held to a higher standard. They are human so they will err and when they do apply the law in the same way it would be applied to any other citizen. Police officers are citizens first and as such should be required to follow ALL the laws other citizens must follow. When they are not then that creates a segment of society that is exempt from following the law making them a protected class, above their fellow citizens, which is wrong. Laws are rarely applied equally when a police office is the one breaking those laws.
  7. There is a 550+ yard range in Sneedville. I haven't been in years but it was about a perfect setup for a long range. Last time I spoke to him he was going to try to extend that range some.
  8. Just like they did at the Knoxville Expo Center for a while, escort people off the property and trespass them for selling guns outside the building. I was threatened with arrest by one of their security guys because I was about to buy a gun from a guy standing out front. Decided it wasn't worth the hassle.
  9. I hate a thief and honestly thievery should hold some of the stiffest sentences to "nip it in the bud" because most career criminals start out with petty thefts. Hope he gets those sentimental items back.
  10. Member's name? Link to the post? I might be able to copy and paste it into a PM to you.
  11. And those examples are reasons why an officer should have his gun drawn. A traffic stop for a traffic violation is not a reason to have a gun drawn, especially before making contact yet we have both seen it hundreds of times.

  13. Come shoot it, it is even more impressive in person. I have tuned the gas system and reworked the trigger to make it amazing. It is 100% reliable, accurate and I can carry it anywhere a sidearm is legal.
  14. And they should have to follow the same laws we do. If I can’t point a loaded gun at a stranger then an officer should not be able to either, without justification. And “I’m scared” isn’t justification unless I can use the same reason.
  15. About a year ago I was coming home from a local restaurant with food for my wife. It was really cold so I was trying to get home before the food got cold. I was speeding and was probably doing 15 mph over on a local highway where the speed limit is 50 mph. As I turned onto my dead end road I looked in the rear view mirror to see a patrol coming up on me rather fast but without his lights or sirens going. Realizing that he was probably going to pull me over for speeding I pulled off to the side of the road and turned off my ignition before he could hit his lights. A few seconds after I pulled over he pulled in about 15 yards behind my car and hit the emergency lights. Because my car was already off I could not roll down my electric windows so I opened my door to tell him my windows were not working. That is when he came unhinged and started yelling things like "you want some of this" as well as "bring it on if you want to die today" from behind the door of his cruiser. I honestly cannot remember with 100% certainty but I would swear to the fact he had his pistol pointed at me as he yelled those things. There was about a two minutes of him yelling taunts at me before he yelled commands for me exit my vehicle. As I exited my vehicle he went full retard and did a full blown felony traffic stop on me, FOR SPEEDING. As I got out of my vehicle the officer had me walk backwards towards him with my hands on top of my head. Somewhere between my vehicle and his the officer grabbed me by my hands that were no top of my head and put me against the trunk of my car. It was at that time I informed him I had a gun and a valid HCP. That didn't change his attitude one bit and he continued to aggressively search me head to toe after taking my gun. I honestly thought I was going to jail for something because of the way he acted. All this occurred in front of a neighbors house and I was being searched as they were coming home from church. My neighbors had to drive through their yard because my car was blocking their driveway. After he ran me he came back and apologized over and over again for how he acted and tried to make excuses for why he acted the way he did. After I told him I understood he handed my gun back and sent me on my way. I had every intention of informing him I had a gun as soon as I could but I knew I didn't want to tell him I had a gun while he was excited with his gun pointed at me. If this is how he acts on all traffic stops it will just be a matter of time before someone gets hurt. The officer that pulled me over worked for THP and was definitely a younger, unseasoned officer. And if he did shoot I would no doubt be painted as some bad guy because I did have a gun on me, legal or not. It was truly disturbing how that trooper acted over a speeding violation, that he didn't even write. Having a gun, even legally, is all that is needed to justify a shooting any more. Even if you don't have a gun you can be shot if the officer thinks you do and "feels threatened".
  16. Online sporting goods or firearms sites?
  17. DO NOT CLIP THE BAFFLES. Most industry people I have talked to regarding clipping baffles have said it makes no difference. but if you still want to get a chainsaw file and file away.
  18. Anyone know of any decent Veterans Day sales going on this year? Going to pick up a few big ticket items I have wanted for a while.
  19. My sister in law in a German who came here and got her citizenship. As soon as Trump got elected she went crazy saying she came here for the free insurance. Now she is pissed that she actually became a citizen for free insurance but might have to actually pay for her insurance. She also says that ALL immigrants are good people while Americans are all bad. Pretty sure I mentioned that SHE should invite immigrants to stay at her house, she refused but said that I was being a racist for not wanting them to stay with me. Shortly after coming here her son became a criminal. Her son assaulted a young kid working at McDonalds and she blamed the kid for getting her son in trouble when her son assaulted the kid. And the reason for the beat down? A wrong sized drink. But to his mother the worker deserved to get his ass beat, and a lot more, because the worker is the person responsible. Now she has started to attack our son, who is in the military, saying he is a bunch of things he isn't. She says he gets paid too much, shouldn't get any healthcare, housing or a retirement for serving. He has worked his ass off to get where he is. My SIL believes that her criminal son is entitled to more than a US citizen serving our country. She believe that because her son isn't a US citizen he should get more. She owns a gun yet cries on the internet that all guns are evil. The last time she was at the house, as in she will never be here again, she walked around my house bow legged like a cowboy, with her tongue in her check like chew, waving a gun around above her head while making grunting sounds. She said that she was a gun owner, like me.
  20. If it has a stock and the barrel is under 16" or it is under 26" overall length then it is a "short barrel rifle" . NFA registration required. If it has a stock and the barrel is at least 16" and it is at least 26" overall length then it is a "rifle". If it has an overall length under 26" and it does not have a stock it is a "pistol". It continues to be a pistol with or without a brace or buffer tube. Adding a VFG to a "pistol" makes it an "any other weapon". NFA registration required. If it has an overall length of at least 26" and does not have a stock it may also be something other than a "pistol". Why 26" is important is because you can now legally add a vertical forward grip without making a " pistol" into an "any other weapon". Basically a "firearm" is a "pistol" (no stock) that can legally have a vertical forward grip. Barrel length does not matter either with a "firearm". You measure with the stock extended and to the end of the muzzle. Do not include the muzzle device unless it is permanently attached. Pretty sure these are the basics, my head hurts.
  21. I have an OSS/DS Taurus 24/7 and I will say it is very accurate. Trigger is amazing for a gun that is DA/SA.
