  1. when i applied for my permit a year ago, the clerk at the DL station told me that the paper was a temp permit until you either got the permit in the mail or a declination letter. im not sure about the actual truth to that, but i would not do it unless you have that permit. you could be risking your ability to exercise your 2nd amendment right forever.
  2. 2 weeks is about the average.
  3. i also suggest the kel-tec line as well. my boss' brother has a kel-tec 32 cal pistol and you cant even tell it is in his pocket. go to your range (if they rent pistols) and ask to try a few keltecs out to see what you think.
  4. remember, these statistics are actually wrong. the last census was in 2000, so that is taking the current number of active permits on file and dividing them into an 8 year old population record. highly inaccurate if you ask me. 8000+ permit holders in hamilton county is great. i think it needs to be higher, but i can not control that number. anyone who knows me will tell you that i say exercise your 2nd amendment rights. get the permit. get the sidearm. make a difference. the more legally armed persons out there, the more fear it puts into criminals.
  5. just stay away from the b@stard Glock....the G36. i had one and i hated it. i have the 33 now, chambered in .357 sig and that puppy is a rocket ship. very accurate. the G33 is very very close in size to the 26 and 27. all 3 guns can have a barrel change and shoot the other rounds very easily.
  6. i got smiles from the faces of the 2 kids as they saw what they got. that is worth more than anything to me.
  7. from what i have seen on any site about AKs. they go anywhere from 500 to 650 or so. i guess it depends on how bad you really want it.
  8. and strickj is correct about that area of town he lives in. there has been countless shootings in the surrounding areas in the projects too. these punks here thunk they can do what they want too. there was a group of kids that were using an air soft pistol to hijack cars around the local aquarium a few months back. im not sure if they got caught, but it was a topic for discussion on the local radio show one morning. i called in and made mention that one of these times they were gonna get something shoved back at them and it probably wouldnt be an air soft pistol.
  9. too bad those laws arent 50 state wide. there are a ton of these illegals here in chattanooga due to the fact we have a con-agra chicken processing plant here in town. they are freaking everywhere.
  10. amen to that Cruel Hand Luke. i see so many of these signs. one is Jay's Market on signal mountain road. that is on the food lion adjoining lot. i went in there one morning and told the stupid non american running it that the sign was illegal, the law has changed and i will be carrying just like i was then. he looked at me like i had lobsters crawling out of my ears. my favorite was i went into the Spur Station on dayton blvd. and was open carrying. the clerk looks at me and said you cant carry that in here! i asked why not? if your establishment is banning handguns where is your sign at giving patrons the chance to adjust? he remarked the Red Bank Police Department said so. i told him to call them and get an officer up there right then. he then told me to just cover it up. i left. i have had enough of these places posting incorrect laws. i sent a nasty email to my city council woman telling her about these business owners using illegal signs and demanded that she do something about it. i havent heard **** from her. and that makes my faith in elected officials soar even higher.
  11. ranges here in chattanooga SUCK. you have to buy a membership and that costs a couple of hundred bucks. one range has a limit on the hours your able to take up a lane even though your paying for the membership, and the jerk requires you to buy your ammo there from him at an inflated price. i shoot at an outdoor range that is maintained by the state. screw those money taking commie bastards.
  12. where i carry is no ones business. as long as it would not constitute a felony, i usually have it on my person.
  13. upon entry to Fort Knox, you and your vehicle will be searched. there is a sign before you get to the guard/inspection shack that states no firearms permitted.
  14. Fred didnt do that great of a job. we still can not carry in restaurants that serve alcohol and carry is still prohibited on college campus' as well. the state law that allows these companies/corporations to restrict myself for example, from legally having my firearm in the car, NOT on my person, but locked in the car needs to be struck down as well. the only place that carrying should be off limits is in a police depts and courthouses. these places of business that blatantly post the incorrect signs should be fined heavily. there is a gas station a mile or so away that still has the old sign saying it is a felony to carry or have your car a gun on the property of ANY place that SELLS or serves alcohol. that law was stuck down ages ago. the sad thing about it is the only places i see that sign are gas stations ran by the towel heads.
  15. i have been ran though the system a few times. only once, and it was the first time i had ever attempted to buy a gun, did i pass instantly. every time since then i have to wait the 3 days for some screwed up reason. i usually get the phone call in about 36 hours saying i got cleared. stupid government red tape.
  16. call the local gun dealers. if that turns up nothing, there is the internet. you can buy parts for guns from just about anywhere in the US.
  17. that is a stupid way to carry a pistol. not to mention one less round at your disposal as well. what if he was attacked on the left side and only had one arm to draw his sidearm? what is he going to do now? bite the slide with his teeth?
  18. LEOs having to witness misdemeanors is under challenge here in Chattanooga. seems that a local attorney got a speeding ticket from one of our many traffic cameras. he has retained legal council and is fighting the ticket. from what i have been reading on it, things are not looking too good for the city. the camera is not an LEO so therefore the misdemeanor was not witnessed by an LEO. the camera that caught him has generated on average 200 tickets a week. that would suck for the city if he wins his appeal. that is alot of cash they are going to loose.
  19. it is no ones f*cking business if i carry. bastards.
  20. i carry everywhere it is legal to carry, and i even carry in these "hey buddy" gas stations and liquor stores that still have the old sign posted, the warning of the $5000 fine and imprisonment for carrying where alcohol is sold. that portion of the law was changed AGES ago, so the sign is out of date and therefore that makes the sign invalid. it is concealed, so no one knows. complaining about the signs being wrong usually backfires and then the correct signs usually end up getting posted.
  21. the reason us fellow glock owners suggest glocks is simple. they are very easy to maintain and can shoot hundreds if not thousands of rounds without breaking them down and cleaning them. i have not cleaned my .357 glock 33 in about 500 rounds and it is hardly dirty and fires each time the trigger is pulled. each gun handles different, and will shoot different. sarah is obviously shaken up and searching for means to defend herself. she needs to read these posts twice or three times, write down our personal suggestions for firearms and then go to a range and inquire if any or all of the models she asks about are available for rental so she can shoot. if she is a small person, she should look into the 9mm or the .40 cal. those are very accurate rounds and in my opinion are very low recoil. well they are low recoil compared to what i shoot, and thats the .45 and the .357 sig. those 2 rounds pack a punch. if she decides that she needs to go with a semiauto, the HK P2000SK is a very nice sidearm. i would suggest she try that one. it is available in .40 and i think 9mm as well. i would have to look. it might be several calibers. here is my personal list to suggest for her to try. HK P2000SK (.40 cal.) HK USP (9mm) Glock 26 (9mm) Glock 27 (.40 cal.) Smith & Wesson Model 642 (hammerless revolver .38 cal.) Sig Sauer P220 compact (.45 cal) those few models are what i would try if i were looking like she is for a firearm. mind you, the average cost of any of the models about is upwards of 650 bucks. the glocks will be on the lower end, more like 500 or so. you can also try any weapon from Taurus, as they are a little bit cheaper in cost. i cant see buying a weapon to save money, as it makes no sense to attempt to put a price on your life. you dont even have to purchase a gun new. my last gun i bought used from a dealer and it is as clean as it was the day it was new. and i mean clean as in the government's eyes. it has a clean sheet and i saved about 300 bucks. it already had the night sights installed. no matter what model you get, practice practice practice. know your firearm inside and out. learn how to disassemble and reassemble it. i can dismantle mine in the dark and put it back together. always have it ready. remember, an armed person is a citizen and an unarmed person is a victim and statistic. your making one of the biggest decisions of your life so choose wisely and be responsible with the model you choose. and when you do choose. tell us all here so we know what you have.
  22. most instructors do 6 shot intervals. worked great for me when i used my Glock 36.
  23. once you turn 18 you are legally responsible for anything you do. the age of 21 applies to only legal consumption of alcohol and purchasing firearms (pistols). you and only you are liable. no one else.
  24. you can get in trouble if your asked to leave and you refuse. but in tennessee where signage has force of law, the state has drawn out a basic law for how and where the sign is to be posted.
  25. too bad its not a sale on sig .357 maybe i need to buy a 9mm this feb.
