  1.   Well said, the only handloaded rounds "reloaded" into a used case that I shoot come from a personal friend.   My first experience with reloads was in the late 80's, range ammo. Lead .38 and I think they used black powder.   Here's my question: while not all handloaded ammo is equal, why does it seem that some hand and most re-loads are smokier than factory?
  2. My previous post was "is ten weeks excessive"   Here's the rest of the story...   My CZ75B Omega was ready for pickup AS PROMISED on 5/31 (I was out of town)   I picked it up 6/7 and it appears to be perfect, have not live-fire function tested it, but I am confident it will run flawlessly   I did drop it off on 3/1 with "6- 8" week lead time.   Biggest issue was lack of communication from the repair facility to me and mis-communication between the 'smith and department manager.   I originally went to Predator Custom and they said the CZ experts in town were Shannon and Bob at CCA.   Since this is my EDC, I want in the hands of the best in town, right?   What I didn't know was CCA had gotten WAY backed on work as they did not have a great process for scheduling in-bound work, kept taking in new work and got even farther behind the 8-ball.   Recognizing they needed a process, they hired Emily as the new Gunsmith Serivce Dept Manager. She is getting things rolling in the right direction. In order to take care of existing business, Emily accepted no new work for 90 days, which is a hard conversation to have with a customer needing service. I found out Emily is a CZ Girl and just bought a 75D, so you know she is cool!   Met both Bob and Shannon, Bob was the lead 'smith and Shannon said, "we learned A LOT about the Omega trigger system."   I also met Eric for the first time yesterday. Apologized for the delay, but  happy it was done and extremely happy that they were ahead of the curve and once again accepting new work.   Lessons Learned:   Lead time is not an exact science, even in the best of circumstances.   I still prefer local "mechanical" service; what if I had sent it off to CZ-USA, received it back and during the inital 100 -200 round function test, it mal-functioned? Back off to CZ?   A gunsmith is not a just part swapper, even with stock guns using OEM parts, sometimes they still need to fitted and mechanisms adjusted.   I will continue to patronize CCA
  3. Craig - I wish I was close to Clarksville - I would be confident to put my gun in your hands!   You are 100% correct - could have gone to CZUSA, Matt, Angus or CGW and would have had back by now, just don't like shipping my stuff off. The other reason I stayed local is with the Omega trigger, there is not much you can do to improve it which I learned from David at CGW - he looked at developing some Omega custom parts and had no interest.   As an update, looking at another 3 weeks...believe it or not, I am ok with the time. My problem is I have made all the effort to contact them which tells me they either are unable, unwilling or unaware of what customer service is. Sometimes customer service is delivering the bad news and accepting responsibility and then swallowing the customer's ire.   I did let these folks know I expect to pay for part swapping, not custom work.
  4. you have some tallent! - - - keep 'em coming!!
  5. Started my wife on a Walther P22, when she was proficient, she selected a G3 Glock 17.   Why such a BIG pistol?   It fits well in her hand - she has long fingers, the extra size and weight due to physics eat up some reooil and allow her to get back on target faster - a good thing since she is recoil sensitive.   It is purposed as a night stand and range gun. She will not be carrying it any time soon and if she does, it will be off body in a co-ordinated carry rig of some sort.   No reason even to consider a compact or sub compact anything.
  6. My 75B was my EDC for years and will occasionally go out with me...   With all the cool stuff you can do through the 3 good custom shops, not sure I would part with it.   Get rid of something else? If I liked the equally and HAD to choose, I would choose the full size over the compact.
  7. Check out Alvin York's wiki page, plenty of scripture quoted which calms my Christian conscience. The Lord occasionally uses real people to combat evil, I pray He will guide me with his righteousness and clarity of thought IF need to use a weapon against another human.
  8. for IWB, I like the N8 (Nate) 2 (squared) tactical, my go to holster for my CZ75. They now offer a leather kydex hybrid. For $30 in leather, I use the high noon hidden ally for a SP101 and mk9
  9. Craig, in DA, the hammer would cock and when released would drop to half cock. Diagnosed worn parts and trigger bar...made an appearance on Friday, was advised 2-4 more weeks. Could have gone to a custom shop and had it back by now. The issue still remains no effort had been made on their part to communicate with me.
  10.   Would prefer not to say at this point. Assuming the work will be perfect based on the referral, I'll post "who" and "worth the wait."     Craig --- trust me I wish I could!!! I got my wife a G3 17 thinking it would be on loan (to me) For my hand, the CZ has better ergos...
  11. Dropped off my CZ on March 1 for repair.   After 3 weeks later I stop in for status...determined malfunction due to worn parts , parts ordered, may add some lead time   2 weeks ago, I stop in...already received the parts, installing and adjusting, will be 1 - 2 weeks   No problem says I, it's my EDC, it needs to be perfect.   Call yesterday, not done, no update and  'smith out until Wednesday.   I know the competent 'smiths are backed up, but I was told 6 week lead time.
  12. I think the Remington Green and Yellow box is their "improved" ammo for traget and match shooting and Hornady markets some stuff that is  "match-grade" ammo but not sure if rifle or pistol
  13. I read this somewhere on the internet and it makes sense to me, but I have not verified the accuracy.   "...a 20ga provides about 75% of a 12ga with 50% of the recoil..."   I am sure this can vary widely depending on ammo and range.
  14. Not sure how Randy gets through airport security, cause he's da bomb!   I've trained with him twice, number 3 coming up and Paisan's review is spot on.
  15. ***UPDATE***   Sunday, October 6, South Knoxville   This is private event   I know of at least 3 ladies attending, my wife and 2 of her friends   $200 per person, please contact Randy for payment options   *****************************************************************************   We are planning a one-day course in Knoxville in the fall   This will be our third class instructed by Randy Harris   Info on the course:  PM Randy (Cruel Hand Luke) or myself for more details   The reason for the post here - I plan on my wife and her best friend attending and would like to extend to an invitation to other ladies looking to further their training.   The class and Randy's teaching style is effective with all skill levels. This will be my third training event with Randy and I am looking forward to the experience once again.   You can also use the search engine on TGO using key words like Suarez / Suarez International / SI / Randy Harris / Cruel Hand Luke to see what other TGO-er's are saying about Randy.   Thanks!!!   AJ
  16. My EDC is a 75B Omega; ergos are near perfect for my hand, I like the sight picture and get improved accuracy since it is full sized.   Mine has the omega trigger; it great - I can't imagine what a tune-up a a custom shop would do.   Good luck - the 75 is an awesome platform!
  17. Saw some at the Knox gun show today, $199...with holster and plenty of protective cosmoline.   First time I've ever held one and it reminded me of a funny reference in Martin Cruz Smith's Gorky Park about the 1895 Nagant revolver...paraphrased...   "two criminals are arguing, #1 pulls the rusty Nagant, both are surprised when the Nagant actually discharges, killing #2."
  18. How many videos have you seen where a lady has discharged a firearm and has been injured or nearly injured from the recoil due to poor stance and/or grip?   It absolutely pisses me off to see all those so-called responsible gun owners with their legally obtained firearms placing them in the hands of un / undertrained people and there contributing to this negative image of low to no gun safety; Gives more ammo to the anti-2A folks to spin it for the masses: most folks understand recoil, so we simply highlight how dangerous just the recoil is of these weapons to the shooter. Plus it "proves" women can't handle larger caliber weapons and adds to the scare factor for non-gun women.    Thanks a lot you jack wads, what do you think you're accomplishing?   And it's supposed to be funny? On what planet do you allow someone to engage in a deadly activity when you are hoping or almost hoping to catch that "funniest moment"   Gents, if you don't know how to coach your lady on the fundamentals of stance and grip, you ain't helping the cause.   Swallow some pride and find someone you know who is competent and can coach!   I did because a different coach has more patience than you will ever have.
  19. I've trained with Randy twice, he does not disappoint!
  20. Thanks for the links and ideas, always looking for new stuff to keep training interesting
  21. I have also trained with Randy; both a one and two course. We are trying to schedule another SI course in Knoxville. If there is a specific course of interest pm Randy and with a little response, we can make it happen.
  22. Saw one at WM at a price point well below my budget. Decent, fun plinking platform for boys and girls of all ages?
  23. 4 for $900? I'm in! All joking aside, wish I was a player....great price per unit.
  24. I have a N82 tactical for my CZ75B...my favorite holster by far. Took a 2 day training course with It in August, never sweated through to my gun and the Sweat shield never felt "wet" Imho could be made better with a "combat cut" to more easily position your hand/fingers during the draw. I wear it Aiwb at 5'9" x 165 lbs. Comfortable and well concealed with a cover garment
