    CZ reliability?

Thousands of trouble-free rounds through my 75B Omega and hundreds through my P-01 SDP.
  2. I'm pretty safe, most of those signs show either a Glock or Beretta silhouette and I don't carry either.   You are really safe at Harrah's Cherokee - no flareguns allowed!!!   On the record, I do NOT knowingly break the law, in the case of private business, if owner doesn't want me armed, I make my decision based on circumstances to either dis-arm and enter or shop elsewhere...and I always have my trusty CRKT M16-14T
  3. My buddy uses a shoulder rig when working as a pilot in Afghanistan.   It is "semi-custom" meaning he bought it from [Sam] Andrews Leather and Sam modified it to fit his frame.   When he is home, it is never used...
  4.   I don't carry a 1911 or a Glock, but that's some funny stuff...
  5.   My take on "isolated incident" is it infers it happened once, but I'm guessing rogue clerks are contributing to isolated incidents across the company on a weekly if not daily basis.   What makes it hard for the WM managers is to police the policies they put forth in good faith for ALL customers.   I hold a management position and from that perspective, when one complaint is lodged, it is an isolated incident. Average to above-average employee with no history of drama, I'll slap 'em on the hands, explain policies are not flexible, but apply good customer service and common-sense. Hopefully I've done my job properly and it's NOT back  to business as usual.   My recent experience has been ammo availability at virtually all the big boxes and LGSs within $2 - $3 of the posted $13.99 price point and with past experiences at the Chapman Highway WM similiar to the OP, I choose to shop elsewhere.
  6. Hadn't shot there in years and I needed to shoot my new-to-me CZ SDP.   Arrive around 2pm, not too many cars parked, good sign, should be lanes open.   Enter the showroom, wow, they have really scaled back their accessories!   Gentleman at the counter greets me, is professional, quick service.   Fees are $15 for all day, $+5 to add one person, + $5 to add another person, 3 people per lane max   Their bulk target is the B-29, $1.00 including tax. I brought my own ammo, so didn't even look at their prices or what was available.   Heading to the range, I viewed their handguns, small selection and prices appeared higher than at other LGSs I buy from.   Range is well light, clean, great ventilation and climate control. They do allow rifle and shotgun, I saw the sign "no slugs" but did not inquire to largest rifle caliber allowed.   Spent about 2 hours and had a great time.   Upon exiting, I mentioned to the two gentlemen behind the counter that I enjoyed using their facility and it was in good shape; they seemed appreciative of my feedback and asked that I come back to shoot with them again.   Next time the weather isn't co-operating and I can't go to the in-laws, I'll hit them up again.   BTW - I saw a sign that said Bays Mountain Country Club has a gun range, anyone have any info on this?
  7. Stumbled across a box in my deep in my safe today. It got pushed to back because I rarely shoot .357 through my 2.25" SP101. With the shorter barrel length, I don't get all the cool benefits of what the .357 can really do out of a 4" - 6" - 8" barrel. Just too much wasted energy out of a snubnose.   I recently received a 3" SP as a gift and was wondering how well this particular round would out of a 3" barrel.   I am tempted to add the line, "does the extra 3/4" make a difference," but fear where this thread would go.
  8. Hey guys,   I have used muffs and plugs for years, I learned the "double up" from a pilot / gun friend.   Works great BUT, I wear glasses and like to wear OTG shooting glasses.   I HATE the muffs, I have tried 3 or 4 different brands and all make the legs of my glasses uncomfortable after 30 minutes of shooting.   with that being said, what kind of "improved" plugs can you recommend?   Thanks,   AJ
  9. I had heard or read (but have not verified) that 50%+ of our state senators and congressmen are HCP holders, which if true, should indicate strong unified voice against new, burdensome and encroaching federal firearm law(s) upon the citizens of TN.   Gun laws could be the polarizing issue when it comes to states' rights and an oppressive federal guv'mint...why should the senators and congressmen representating large blocks of the urban population in other states have any influence or say-so on how the citizens of the state of TN buy, sell, legislate or carry firearms within the boundries of TN?
  10. Another vote for Mother's Mag plus a few huors in front of the TV...it will remove most if not all the cylinder drag line.
  11. I really don't care what happens to CTD,   Started my boycott when they jacked the prices of Korean M1 carbine mags from $7 - $9 to $50 - $60.   There are too many on-line and local retailers with competitive price points for me to even consider giving a nickel to CTD.
  12. I checked out their website, I don't think I'll ever measure up. From the "american warrior test" page   There are 3 levels: American Warrior...93% American Operator...87% American Defender...75% Only 7 people have ever reached 93% and made the American Warrior level. Only 8 people have ever reached 87% and made the American Operator level   ONLY 7 people / 8 people - if this includes their instructors, what chance do I have? I might do better on American Gladiator...
  13. I renewed by mail and was more than pleased by the turnaround time.   Like others, didn't want to hit the DMV, waited around until the last minutes, finally mailed it.   Assumed 6 - 8 weeks, got similar results - 2 - 3 weeks from date I mailed it out.   Kudos to the professionals working at the Dept of Safety, HCP Division!
  14. Great write up, what was your class size?
  15. That 101 year old Remington is in amazing condition, congrats!
  16. What's the difference between an "S" and an "X" series?
  17. I tuned my SP using Iowegan's Gun Guide (newer version of the IBOK) Used the Wolff Kit, 8# return spring - 10# is better for a more postive reset. Also used the 10# hammer spring with no light strikes but I shot it ALOT before putting back into the carry rotation.
  18. They are marketing as a NIB Colt based on this statements, "Each working Colt .45 pistol" and "There is no better canvas for the “We the People” Tribute than the Colt Government Model .45 pistol."   Pretty sure they are assuming they will never be fired after, " Craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers decorate..."   Should hold value based on, "featured on the left side, near the hammer, is the familiar stylized Colt logo, signifying that each pistol in the edition is an Officially Licensed Colt issue."   Of course, this IS a sales/marketing site...    I don't have a clue to the retail cost of a new base model Colt is, but assuming $900 you're paying $1100 for the detail/finish work.   Is that a good value for the type of detail work being done?   I would do a search like "America Remembers firearms for sale" just to see what's out there to help me in my buying decision.   Good luck!
  19. I won't disclose, but like Dolomite, I have many rounds in many mags for all of the firearms in our bedroom.   All guns are always loaded? You best believe this is true in my home.
  20. Suprised that came from a Nutnfancy video, he seems to be pretty well versed with firearm operations.   As others have posted, It does bring up a critical training/teaching step; proper loading, unloading, dry fire, function & handling of a firearm.   I do it when I get a new platform.
  21.   Daddy-O,   It may have been on TNoutdoors9 youtube reviews, I can't remember the exact source.
  22. I think $280 NIB TS with scope is a good buy and with the receiver bolt clips, it makes breaking it down a little easier.   If you're looking for a reliable platform effective out to about 100 yards with basically a lifetime of free parts for when you need to tinker, go for it.   You will be able get you $$ back out of it if you hate it.   I think OS hit it on the head, everything else will be well north of $500 - $600
  23. I've had a HP995 for years with years of trouble-free plinking.   The 10 round mag is the biggest con for the platform, I think I saw some 15 (maybe 20) rounders from ProMag, but have heard some less than stellar reviews   Paid $175 ftf for a Planet of the Apes LNIB (never fired) - I spent the money to upgrade to an ATI Storm-knock-off stock and then again for the HP TS stock.   The TS stock is well worth the upgrade and it should be noted that the "flexbility" of the HP stock is engineered to be part of the recoil system.   If you get any failures, HP will send you all new parts if you need to replace anything worn.   Also be aware that the mag lips may be slightly out of spec which will cause failures to properly feed. The HP forum guys also recommend breaking in the mags (load them up for about 2 weeks before use)
  24. I am a Speer Gold Dot fan, but as others have stated, most "modern" SD stuff will work; whatever you select make sure it functions reliably in your gun,   Stay away from Winchester White Box 147gr JHP advertised as "personal defense" It is "old" technology and I have seen tests where it fails to expand and acts as a fmj.
  25. John Sevier hunter education center off rifle range road is a pretty nice facility.
