I have been building an AR specific for local 3 gun matches. I don't plan to compete at major matches, just fun club matches around here. Anyhow. trying to decide on my optics. I've read good things about Burris Tac30 and MTAC, but am curious about this one. Sightmark Triple Duty M4. Its 1-6x power vs. 1-4x power. Anybody have any experience with Sightmark?

Website shows they have matched upper/lowers in stock in pink. I know some of you guys that are secure in your manhood wouldn't mind owning a pink gun...lol. Seriously though, sl1k good to hear you had a positive experience with them too. I will order from them again in the future.

Ugh. was in the market for a stripped lower...

I got one for me, and one for a friend. I don't claim to be an expert on ARs, but I do own a small machine shop in Tullahoma. So, I know good machining when I see it. They are excellent quality. Have not done any assembly yet, but my upper reciever lined up flawlessly. I honestly think they are new to the market. My serial number is way less than 100. Like 0005X.... -

I got a stripped billet lower at Lock stock and barrel in Franklin yesterday. He sold 3 more while while I was there. I was reffered to them by a sales person at www.cmttac.com The lowers are made by a company in Lexington TN called Cross machine and tool. Very nice. And the price is excellent for a billet lower. They have lowers in and out of stock daily I guess, since they make them there. Might be worth looking into. -

I went ahead and ordered a LPK and buffer tube assy from PSA last night. Most everything is sold out on their website. I really hate to fall into the "panic" mode croud, but figured I would get parts while I can. See, I was building a rifle before all this started. I just wasn't in a hurry to do it. Looking at all this with a optimistic point of view, if the ASB doesn't pass, there will be a whole lot of ARs for sale in a month or two... -

My local dealer was out of stock on stripped lowers when I went in yesterday, but had one on order coming in today So I put my name on it, and am going to get it tomorrow morning. Guess I got lucky. He only had one complete ar rifle, a consignment, over priced. I bet it sold today. I've seen ads online today for stripped lowers priced at $300-$350. -

I was gonna stop in The Outpost Armory on my way to the Boro today. Just to walk around and paw stuff(on the market for a new AR optic). There was not a single parking place available. This is on a Wednesday at around 11 am. I was floored. I can imagine dudes fighting over a Bushmaster like women do at Walmart on Black Friday for a pretty princess doll! I'm sure the dealers love it. -
3 or 4 colors of flat Krylon, a mesh type laundry bag, and your imagination. Spray it a flat base color first, then lay the mesh over it and spray different colors to get the camo effect. Overlap by moving the mesh and spraying some more. The more irregular the better. You can leave it like that and touch up as needed by repeating the process, or top coat it with a good satin polyurethane spray to help durability. Have fun! I know guys that paint their high end rifles using this method. Hey if its good enough for our boys fighting in the middle east, it's good enough for me.

hydro-dipping/transfer
2006Blackpearl931 replied to z0mbies fear me's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Are you wanting to have it done, or do it yourself? It is not an easy process. Looks easy when you watch guys do it on youtube, but its acually quite complicated. As far as the finish itself, its looks awesome on gun parts. The top coat is what determines durability and finish. There are companies that sell a rubber textured clear coat that is designed for wear and added grip. A lot of "dippers" use regular clear coat to top coat, which looks good, but will wear faster. -

Got my 500 piece order from BBI Saturday, and loaded up a few this morning. I plan to go this afternoon and check results. Started with 147gr moly, 3.3 gr of Unique and an OAL of 1.130-1.135. -

I just ordered 500 Black Bullets in 147. I like doing business local when I can, and I'm excited to see this moly coating. -

Now that is good info. Just what I was hoping for. I will play around a little with what I have and see what kind of results I get. I am a machinist by trade, so I love to tinker with stuff, and reloading is like a whole new world to explore. I just needed some good advice to point me in the right direction. Thank you. Jonnin, I ran short on ammo at a recent match and got some from a friend there. They were reloads and were 147 gr. lead. Shot great. -

My local gunshop sells and promotes titegroup. I will have to try some. I bought a like new, but used press, and it came with an unopened lb of Unique. So I'll give it a whirl. As far as the power factor goes, these local club match guys seem to care less as long as you are not having problems or being unsafe. I have though about two different loads causing more problems than they fix on my end adjusting from one recoil to another. I want to shoot a heavier bullet like a 147, so I guess I need to find a good powder gr. load to help with recoil. thanks for the input guys! -
So, I'm just getting my feet wet in reloading. I am wanting to start with 9mm. I shoot some local IDPA and 3gun mathces, and this is the caliber I shoot. Kinda thinking about a lower recoil round for the paper targets, and a heavier projectile for steel. Maybe a 95 or 100 grain, and a 147. Using Unique powder for now. Online load data says, 4.0-4.5 gr depending on bullet manufacturer for the 147, and 5.8-6.3 for the 100 grain. My question is this. How would a lighter powder load with the 100 gr bullet do? Say 4.6 to 5gr. WIll probably try and hold an OAL of 1.145-1.150. I shoot a M&P in case it matters.

if your only intended use is shooting trap, get a O/U. If you plan to done anything else with it, get a semi auto like the 11-87. With a few mods, the 11-87 could easliy go from trap gun to 3gun and back again. Or duck/turkey gun. But for just shooting skeet, a O/U is hard to beat

I agree. Beauty is definitly in the eye of the beholder. No offense to the Glock owners, but the pic above with the two side by side makes the Glock look like a toy from Walmart. The Jericho is the 1911 from the middle east.

I did not realize they were importing them again. I had a full size .40 and sold it years ago like an idiot, Been wanting to replace it since. I will be paying my local shop a visit to see about getting a new one. I kinda like the rail addition on the new ones too. They are awesome guns. A true combat weapon.

It is possible depending on how deep the current serrations are. I changed the design on a Sigma 9mm slide years ago. Looked awesome when it was done. And have thought about doing a Colt 1911 slide, but decided to leave it alone and sold it. Of course, having the right equipment is whats important when considering the kind of mod. This definitely isnt a drill press and Dremel tool job...

I bought two 50 round boxes of 9mm just to use for practice shooting. Was shooting with my M&P I use for IDPA. I have shoot alot of brass through this gun without a hiccup. Out of the 15 rounds of Tula I loaded, I had 4 FTFs. I even reloaded one of them and have two preimer strikes on an unfired cartrige. I guess this ammo will go to the bottom of my stash, or I guess I could shoot it with a slingshot when the zombies attack.

Boonie, I shoot at the club matches in Manchester some. Great group of people. There always seems to be a new shooter, and everybody is always very helpful. AS far as equipment goes. You need a safe, reliable pistol, at least 9mm. A good holster(I have seen new shooters use IWB holsters, but a good OWB holster is the way to go, belt loop Kydex, or a Fobus type if you have it). You will also need 3 magazines, and a holster system for them. A concealment garment(can be a hoodie, shooting vest, etc). And bullets. Of course eye and ear protection. I will warn you, it's a lot of fun and extremely addicting!

Funny how that Ruger makes the Colt seem like its overpriced huh? Congrats on the purchases, they are both fine firearms!
