I shoot a M&P 9mm in competition. I've put thousands of rounds through it. I have nothing but good things to say. I have done some upgrades along the way, but none of them were out of necessity. While I truly appreciate the Glock simplicity and ruggedness, I have never been able to get past how ugly they are. I have owned a 22 and 23, and shot a 27. All of then went bang on command. You will have a reliable firearm with either choice. It's just a matter of what you like more.

Possible new 300BLK Bullet to try..

What a deal. I will be ordering some today! -
Of all the guns I currently own, have owned in the past and have shot that belong to friends, my Taurus 92 in my favorite of any. It literally feels like the slide is on ball bearings. I have shot somewhere around 3k rounds through it. Never a single issue. However, a true Beretta is classic.

Sounds fun. I'm in -
So can somebody confirm that the ATF approved the design? The welded "muzzle brake" to make it a legal 16" so no SBR stamp is required I mean.

IDPA Classifier at MTSC 3/29/14?
2006Blackpearl931 replied to Emperor_Po's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I would say it has a lot to do with so many new shooters attending the mixed discipline, 3gun and steel matches. I for one prefer a USPSA style match over IDPA. Lets be honest. In a real world situation, you will reload where and when you can, and will care less if a live round was still in the mag you just dumped. And threat neutralized is exactly that, whether it takes 1 shot or 5. As for the classifier, I have no idea. I do know they have something going on every Sunday now. Great group of people to shoot with too. -
I went yesterday. Got some good decent deals on some parts for an AR upper I am building. Same vendor Ishel mentioned. I also picked up some CCI small rifle primers and Hornady .22 bullets pretty cheap. Every gun there was over priced. Ammo prices are just plain stupid anymore. But I took my son in law to his first gun show. He was worse than a kid in a candy store. My first time going to the new armory. Nice place.

Great match today. And the weather cooperated for the most part. Had a blast! -

Weather permitting I will be there. Every weather report you see is different. I have seen 65 and partly sunny, and I have seen 50 and 90% rain chance. 28 shotgun rounds huh? I'm going to need a bigger caddy system -
I was being facetious. Simply to put an end to the argument. There is no "one" person to blame. Textbook supply and demand here people, however unfortunate that may be.

I agree with 48 south. Ruger 100%. I have shot the dog doo out of my SR556 and have never had a hiccup.

A perk of owning your own business is being the boss and setting your own hours. That being said, I keep thinking about going to Walmart and beating the scalpers out of the loot. I mean camp out if I have to. And then resell it to my friends and fellow shooters for absolutely zero profit. I think I would enjoy telling the guy in line behind me that it isn't for me, because I reload and don't shoot crappy Win White box ammo anyhow, that I'm going to make sure actual shooters get ammo at normal prices, instead of some sleaze bag with no job hanging around Walmart just looking to rip my friends off. How's that for an economic plan?

Duplex Nail - AR Firing Pin

So he has a lathe. And can read micrometers. But can only turn a diameter smaller using a bench grinder. Right.... -
Kinda got the idea for the perm suppressor from the Sig Sauer MPX-C. I want to do a rifle length handguard like you've done also. Looks good so far dude, keep us updated on the build!
-
I'm actually starting a SBR build myself. Gonna do a 10.5" barrel with permanent attached suppresor. So it really won't be an SBR since the barrel lenght will be 16", but anyhow. I'm thinking FDE on the whole rifle. IMHO, a compact rifle in an earth tone just looks cool. Utilitarian I guess. I already have a couple black rifles, so its time to add some color. I vote for FDE or OD or a combo of the two How long is your handguard? That's gonna look awesome with just a dab of compensator sticking out

I have a Ruger SR556 with a factory chrome BCG. Thousands of rounds downrange, and it still looks new. No discoloration, wear marks, flaking or peeling. No additional wear to the upper either. I just assembled a new rifle and used a WMD NIB-X bcg. Less than 500 through it, and it has began to turn a dark grey on the bolt and front of the carrier. I use Frog Lube in the gun while shooting and clean with Hoppes #9. I have even washed the bcg with acetone. The gun hasn't had more than 100 through it at one time yet. Just won't clean up like it was new. Supposedly you don't have to lube the nickel boron, but ARs like to run wet, so I do. It may be the Frog Lube causing the discoloration.

Three Gun, school me.

I shot in Cleveland last month. We shot about 60-70 rifle rounds. Anyhow, as others have posted, take your gear and go to a match. You will see stuff and can ask about it before investing tons of money into guns and gear and then changing it later down the road. You won't be the fastest guy on the clock digging shot shells out of your pocket, but then again, you're not going to be the fastest guy your first match anyhow. Word of caution....it is very very addictive. and I second brianenos.com for good info -
CMT Tactical sends me an email about once a week with items coming into stock. They had M16 BCGs a few days ago, might want to check them out.

It's a WMD NIB-X. I have not had any more problems. I've shot in two matches with it so far. I ran low on brass ammo last weekend, so I mixed in some steel case stuff. Shot at the close range stuff with the steel case and shot the longer range steel plates with brass. I honestly couldn't tell a difference between the two. Dolomite is absolutely correct. I would have installed an adjustable gas block had I not realized I had an alignment issue. Even though the upper and lower are dedicated, its just as cost effective to get the adjustable block and be done. I'm a machinist by trade, so I wanted everything perfectly aligned when I was building it. End result is, the gas block had to be rotated slightly to align with the port. Does it bother me? On the clock, if it is putting holes on paper when I pull the trigger, I don't care if the block is on upside down, sideways or there at all!
