  1. When I was with the Sher. Dept., we were required to wear one. Warm weather, they're HOT!!, rest of the time, they're tolerable, never comfortable. Wore one some in 'Nam, weighed a ton. Personally I don't care to wear one now, to each his own. Think I'd opt for taking ducking lessons. I took 5 hard hits in 'Nam, none of which hit anywhere near where a vest would cover.....just saying.
  2. Glad to see any gun manufacturer move to TN, or any other legit industry, for that matter. Certainly jobs are needed here. As to buying a Beretta, I don't have a plan to. Perfectly satisfied with my Walther PPQ. Nothing against Beretta, good gun. Just don't have a need to buy a gun I don't need. I wish them well, regardless.
  3.    Heck, yeah, go for it. I was a machinist in Lebanon for 15 yrs. Trouble is, my birthday &  dirt is the same, so I'm out of the running, LOL  Would be nice tho........
  4.    Yep, I couldn't force my tongue to say that!
  5. LOL, well, we all gotta go sometime. I bought mine over a yr. ago, I think, ran about 3K rounds thru mine, thus far. Absolutely love it. Likely, after 34 yrs., I won't be able to tell a piece of brass from a tumbler.

    Yellow Jackets!

       Amen! Napalm is your friend.
  7.  They hit Lebanon Pawn recently, as well. Got several handguns, etc
  8.  I thought it was a good show. Sold my Win. Mod 70 as soon as I walked in the door. Didn't buy anything. I agree with Greg,  we need to start wearing name stickers on our shirt, paint our nails or something, LOL, so we can recognize the TGO.  Now I'm ready for some NFL tomorrow.
  9.    Totally agree. I went from a Frankford tumbler to a Thumblers Tumbler, stainless. Like  night & day. Wear is NOT an issue. More expensive initially, but worth it, to me at  least. The media doesn't wear out & have to be replaced like dry media.  Like you said, I'll never go back to dry.
  10. You could petition the fair board, but likely be a waste of time. Mayor Carl Dean has been trying to shut down the fairgrounds for some time.He has some developer buds that want it bad. Parking fees is just another tactic to achieve that. So far the fairgrnds has held it's own, but at a price to those who go there. Even without the $5 parking fee, the $8 admission for a show that size is over the top, not to mention thew flea mkt crap inside. Yep, the whole scene sucks. .
  11. Doesn't bother me. Now, the Casey Anthony clothes auction ad afterward......that is disturbing.
  12.  I don't have an inside track to the show. RK does have a history of not keeping the website up to date. So, I'll  wait & see what happens.  David (dlm), might have some idea.  That said, can't see why they would not have shows there, other than contract disputes, or rent prices. RK is  about money. Great location, building, etc. free parking.
  13.  OP, I feel your pain. I've done business with Midway for years, also, but the shipping charges have gotten totally out  of hand. Personally, I make it a point to avoid backorders altogether. Usually ends up being a bad experience for me.  Strange thing, todays business world. When supposedly, businesses are trying to attract customers, stay in business,  or whatever the situation, customer service has gone the way of the buffalo & high button shoes ( I know most of  you don't remember that, LOL ). Do some serious shopping around, online, LGS, shows, take your best shot.  None are all that attractive.  I intended to order 2 boxes of shotshells from Midway, about $16/box. Shipping was going to be $18. Clicked off  the site, never placed the order.
  14.    The same people that go to a ball game or race & get so drunk they can't tell one team  from another.  Just saying...
  15.  Planning on being there around midday Sat. Got a Winchester Mod. 70 30-06 I want to sell. Great shape, just have my  eye on something else.  Murf. is usually a great show.
  16. Never watched the DD show, don't duck hunt or own a duck call. Don't care for the so called " reality" shows, as they aren't close to real. Heck, everybody has an AR niche, so why not. No doubt, it rubbed salt in A&Es wounds, as well as the other Libs. LOL More power to 'em if they can make a dollar from it. Surprised PETA hasn't jumped on the band wagon about killing poor little innocent ducks. World's a strange place these days.
  17.    +10.........Don't bother.
  18.    Nothing really wrong with it, just never had really liked it, personal preference, I suppose.  Always preferred Remington + the ex gave it to me one year for Christmas LOL.
  19.  According to what I've read ( can't remember where exactly ), the 700 bases fit, and there is a base specific for the 783 also. So should be no problem there. I have a Simmons scope on the Mod. 70, that I'm just not particulary fond of, may let it go with the rifle & start from scratch. Seems like the eye relief doesn't work for my eyes/glasses. We'll see how the mindset is down the road.    That's not a bad price BTW...thks.
  20. I read an article on this in Amer. Rifleman. Rifle was designed from the ground up. They did take these features from Savage, and tho it's not the prettiest rifle on the rack, it does what it was intended to do... Function, accurate, reliable, low cost. List is $451, drilled & tapped, no sights. Guess I'm going to wrap my hands around one.
  21.  Thanks, that's the kind of reviews I've been reading elsewhere in the mags, etc. Thinking of selling my old Mod. 70  30-06,  after deer season ends, and buying one for next year.
