Went to an estate sale yesterday and picked up this Stoeger Luger .22, with an aluminum frame. I think it鈥檚 one of the best examples of one that I鈥檝e seen. 聽Really a bit surprised by the size and heft. It鈥檚 very close to the only Luger P08 that I鈥檝e ever fired! Hopefully I鈥檒l get to shot it tomorrow.

Took it this afternoon and ran a couple of magazines through it.聽It鈥檚 very accurate! I could keep them in an inch at 7 yards. However, after the first 5 rounds, I started having issues with extraction. These are known to have tight chambers. The second mag was no better. In fact it got worse, with unshot rounds not chambering. I鈥檓 going to give it聽a good cleaning and oiling and look for some hotter rounds. I was using聽standard velocity rounds.

I have several .22s that will not reliably extract Federal American Eagle. I had several bricks of it so I have been using it up in revolvers. My point is after cleaning you may want to try a different brand of ammo.

Oh, I agree and that's my plan.聽 I was using Olin White Box Target, which I have several bricks of.聽 FRom reading on the internet, these pistols like the hot stuff better. I think most semi auto pistols do.

Olin? 聽How old is that stuff? 聽Definitely try some HV and/or something a bit newer.

Do you think I'm a spring chicken?聽 This stuff was produced back in the 80s or 90s.聽 馃槃聽 I got three bricks of .22 shorts that were made in the 60's, maybe. 馃檪

The Olin is match grade stuff for rifles.聽 And yes, I need some HV rounds.聽 Now to find some... 馃槥

The one I had, the extractor spring was so light that the extractor would slip off the rim at the first opportunity.聽 I "boosted" the extractor spring with a small slice of ink pen straw and that helped it quite a bit.
