TN Enhanced Carry Permit Class - Shooting Requirements?

Recommended Posts

I will be taking the enhanced carry class with the Mrs. next week and I saw that there is a shooting test. Can somebody elaborate on what the shooting test entails? I would like to make sure the Mrs. will pass with no issues. Also, can it be rimfire or does it have to be center fire?

Thank you

When I took it 8 years ago I asked them what the average score was and they said 99%. You could shoot as slow as you want and in my group they had you shoot one shot and stop first, then gave help to those that they thought had trouble. I think the low score in our group including 2 brand new shooters was 90%. Most got 100%

Same for us. They told us to bring 22lr guns to qualify. One lady showed up with her 45cal since that's all she had. They were a little worried. She nailed it. Lol

I never had anyone fail. But I've had several that would have if they didn't start listening. We always had people warm up prior to shooting for qualification. The guys who "have been shooting for 30 years" were usually the worst. I had people take the class who actually didn't own a gun - they just borrowed one for the class.

The funnest part was after everyone qualified, we would pull out other guns for people to try. It was great seeing people's joy at shooting a suppressed AR for the first time. We kept people on the range for the required time but at least we made it fun.

My wife and I went to the range where the class would be held -- Cleveland Shooting Sports -- a week before the class. We got the official targets so my wife could practice with it (she doesn't shoot much) and feel more comfortable during the test. She scored 80% on the shooting test.
