The way I read it...TN CCW permit

That my AZ carry permit is an exemption from NICS in AZ.

However the TN permit is NOT an exemption from NICS.

Is the latter true?

What utter nonsense. Any idea why?

In AL where I just moved from, a few Lefty and a few good ol' boy Sheriffs were warned numerous times to stop issuing CCW permits to individuals WITHOUT a NICS check.

When those elected officials ignored those requests, ATF pulled ALs CCW exemption for NICS.

Thereby negating the WHOLE POINT, to me, of obtaining a CCW in a Constitutional Carry State.

I found out why.

To qualify as an exemption from NICS, the ATF, and this could be challenged under SCOTUS decision on Chevron Deferrence, has dictated that the issued permit, among other things...

Require a NICS check before issuance.

Not be valid for more than 5 years.

It's my understanding that TNs permits are 8 years.

AL and MI just had their permits added as exemptions from NICS.

I don't typically like it much when people move here from other states and complain about the way we do things. But in this matter I agree with everything the OP stated 100%.

This definitely is a factor. One thing that you may not be quite getting. @MEGASTARis that we do not solely utilize the federal NICS check here in Tennessee. We use the state TICS system.

And I was told that the money stays within the state.
That's when I stopped bitching about paying it.
