Ruger Fans-Question....

Recommended Posts

I have a chance to buy a Ruger SR9, Black with 2 17 round mags, holster and soft case. The gun is unfired. What would be a "fair" price on this gun?

I don't know much about Rugers...other than they make a reliable weapon...I'm just not sure about this SR9....I remember reading something about a recall also....

Opinions?

Thanks

There was a recall on the SR9. You can tell if the weapon in question is post recall if it has a Glock style scissor-type trigger.

I've had mine since March and love it. During the first 100 or so "break-in" rounds, it would occasionally FTE, but not since. I removed the mag disconnect and have since put about 750 rds throught it with absolutely no issues.

I know the prices have been dropping, so I don't had a FMV price.

I've owned 2 SR9's, one was just awesome, one was a lemon but rugar took care of me.

They're great guns with not so great triggers... Awesome ergos.

Anyday now ghost Inc. Will have a connector to lighten up the triggers and SR9 owners around the world will rejoice, and I might get another one...

IMO Pay no more than $350 if it's got a fair amount of rounds through it 'cause you can get nib or barely touched ones for $400 all over.

EDIT: sorry, rolled over the "unfired" in your post... $400-425 if it means no taxes or check fee

Used...Ballpark $350

They are good guns with a low bore axis and thin profile - Very easy to shoot well. Glock type trigger indicated post recall gun...if it is not this type call Ruger and they will send you a prepaid mailer, make it right, and give you a free extra magazine. The repaired & post recall guns are exactly the same spec...don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

I love mr SR9. Bought new for $475 with stainless slide. It has functioned flawlessly with a little over 500 rounds put throught it so far. Trigger is pretty heavy but I've felt worse. I would suggest one to anybody. That being said most buy on name, reliability, fit and feel and there are many good 9mms out there. Good luck on your decision.

I have had mine for about 8 months. Paid around $475 new. Great gun. First 9mm I have owned.

Yours is only one I've ever shot...very very nice all around pistola, seems.

Thing that immediately struck me, it just doesn't look or feel like it could hold 17+1. Done with mirrors, methinks.

The black guns can be had for around 400

With ammo,and holster,I wouldn't give more then 450

I love mine. It's OD green with a black slide though. I paid $500 for one new.

Ouch!

Does the OD frame really add that much?

For a hundred bucks,I would just imagine that its green :D

It Is what it is. I heard anything over 10 rounds was on the banned list. Better get some more mags just in case.

To be honest, I'm not going to be buying any more Ruger Autos for a while.

My last P95, I bought NEW dropped the mag after every 2-3 shots. And after fixing it.

I realized it was a flawed design in my opinion.

I've also seen one SR9 with part of the barrel lug chipped off.

As for their Revolver......I LOVE them.

I've had 3, and still have a Security Six (.357Mag) built in the earlier 80's

And between my Father and I have 1,750 rounds through it EASY.

To answer you question, I think $375 is a FAIR deal.

I have held and shot many 9mm and the SR9 is my favorite. I bought mine (Black Stainless) when they first came out. Paid the price $440.00 because I just had to have one. Sent it back for the recall work and have shot 1000+ rounds. FLAWLESS!!! With S&W running the Sigma's with 50.00 rebates I would say the gun alone should be bought used for 350.00. Good Luck!!
