Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and let y'all know a bit about me.

I am a 32 year old married man, with a seven year old son. I am an avid shooter and reloader, and am enjoying teaching my son the fine art of both of those hobbies. I grew up in Charleston, TN, and moved to Signal Mountain about a year ago. I shoot mostly at Prentice Cooper.

And, of course, what kind of proud father would I be if I didn't offer to show these?

Thanks! I just kind of happened across this website when I was looking at some posts on another site I am a member of (Beartooth Bullets). It seemed pretty cool that this page is dedicated to Tennessee gunowners, and the issues that we deal with everyday.

I would also like to report that we were given a D- by the VPC, and I am sincerely ashamed that our legislation has allowed us to lose our F rating!

Canynracer, the VPC is the Violence Policy Center, which is the former Brady Campaign. Notorious gun grabbers, every single one of 'em. They rate a states "gun control" laws with the most restrictive states getting an A rating, and on down the grading scale from most to least restrictive, with least "restrictive" earning F's.

Ya know, I don't really know for sure when I started teaching my boy. It wasn't a conscious decision, he's just been around it all of his life. He has been shooting with me since he was 5, and finally got a rifle of his very own, a mossberg 702, for Christmas. We have added another rifle to his arsenal since then as well, a Rossi single shot .357 rifle that I purchased in February. The furniture was kinda banged up, but the bore and rifling were very strong. We made it a father - son project to refinish the stock and finish, and we had it ready for him to shoot in early March.

This is something that my son has been steeped in, as I was growing up. He helps me reload as well as helping me with all the gunsmithing duties. I believe it is something that has brought us closer. The time outdoors shooting and fishing, and the time at home working on the guns, building 'em up from nearly garbage to great shooters.

Sure beats spending time in front of the TV with him!

StrickJ, I had a membership at Carters for a while when I lived in McDonald. I did not like the range ventilation, or more accurately, the lack of ventilation. Carl's place over in Hixson, I think Sportsmans Supply?, is ok. It is much nicer than Carters. I really do prefer shooting at outdoor ranges, though, and sooner or later will take the time to get on the waiting list at the Chattanooga Rifle Club.
