CC Permit Question

Hi all, I have been lurking around for a while but this is my first post. I applied for my CCW Permit on March 1, 2012 along with my buddy who applied on March 2, 2012. My buddy has received his permit about a week ago but nothing on mine. I know these things can take up to 90 days and that's fine but I am concerned about an issue that occurred after I submitted. On March 7th a police officer served me a criminal summons from my neighbor for my deaf/blind 13 year old boxer being on his property. Yes this has happened one other time and I know it's my responsibility but this isn't the issue. The issue is, will this prevent me from getting my permit? I went for my arraignment and was told that this was a C Misdemeanor which is a max of 30 days or a $50 fine. This is the only time I have ever been in trouble with the law and this will be dismissed as soon as I show proof of containment which should be this week. Anyway, will this be a problem or am I worried for nothing?

Thanks

Scott Johnson

Thanks guys, I finally did call and they said that it was still in the back ground check stage. She said that as of now there were no issues with anything that she could see. I was a little afraid to call because my instructor told us not to unless it had been 90 days. Still unsure why my buddy got his in 3 weeks even though he submitted his after me. Oh well, at least now I know there are no red flags on my application to worry about.

Thanks

Scott

Not true. There are plenty of non-felony stuff that will stand in your way of a HCP.

Yep, domestic violence and stalking 'meanors, and DUIs in the time limit come to mind.

That being said, the OP's situation should not prevent him from getting one.

There's also the issue of having a case of just about any kind that doesn't show a final disposition. Happens all the time when folks try to buy a gun. Even when the charge would not have be disqualifying even if found guilty. So the pending Mutt 'Meanor could possibly be a temporary bugaboo.

Which technically appears to be TDOS violating the law... There is no requirement under the HCP law to prevent the issuing of permits for class C or B misdemeanors even if charges are still pending. There is also no requirement under the law for TICS for that either... then again TICS is completely unconstitutional on it's face :)

It involves government workers. Being one (city, not state), I can assure you the old bit about watching bologna being made applies.

In all seriousness, they are likely waiting for a response back from some agency somewhere where you lived or worked. Your buddy either got lucky or his responses came back quickly. A buddy of mine handles part of the background check stuff at work so I've learned a bit (nothing improper for the record) about how it works.

Did learn that once I get my permit, they will know about it as soon as evaluation time rolls around. Not really sure what that has to do with my continued ability to continue to work as a civilian in a LE agency.
