Speedometer cluster repair in the MidState??

I need to find someone that can rebuild a speedometer cluster from a 2005 Suburban. I know there are plenty of places I can send it to, but I’m trying to find someone that can do it on Monday (or even today).

I fixed my own, pretty easy really. I had a speedometer that was erratic and a faulty fuel indication so a googled it and purchased two stepper motors off ebay. Just need a little wickit and some solder

My friend's '04 Avalanche cluster failed. For a lot less than the cost of a dealer part, he found a cluster online (eBay maybe) that was an upgrade to be like the Silverado SS cluster. It even gave him oil and/or trans temp readings.

I did my own, but I'm tooled up for circuit board work. Good luck finding a local. It doesn't require much time, and the parts are cheap. The vehicle will run without the cluster (at least the Trailblazer will), so you can pull it and send it off if you have to. Needless to say, Mr. Goodwrench will make you their bitch if you take it to them.

I think 2000 Suburbans are the old twist in type?
Either way, It only tkes about 5 minutes to take a cluster apart and solder in a new one.

I can send you a stepper motor for free if you wanna try it yourself.

If you're gonna swap a stepper yourself, you need to watch a video on the procedure. If you don't know what masking tape and a fork is for, don't try it.

If you want to get a stepper from Strick, I'll swap it out for you. I have the real rework tools. I don't be using no wick.

Thanks for that video. My wife was talking with her brother who will be here today and leaving on Thursday. He told her he knew how to take the cluster out and reinstall it if she could find someone to fix it while he was here.

The whole process is one of the easiest things I've done on a car. It wouldn't have been without the tools and lots of circuit board experience. Took maybe 10 minutes to replace all 7 steppers once I got the circuit board out.

Arnold's speedometer repair is the guy in Nashville. Google should bring it up. But like has been said pretty easy fix. If I can do it anyone can. Lol!

I work at the Hermitage Advance auto and we have a local guy who fixes them not Arnold who is also a good choice but I cant think of his name call 316-9600 tomorrow ask for Brian who is working the commercial counter he can tell you who the guy is and supply you with his number
