What .45 Should I Buy?

Recommended Posts

OK . . . here's the deal.

I really want a .45 with the following specs:

  1. Small enough for concealed carry
  2. Double action
  3. Carry as many bullets as possible in the magazine
  4. Accurate, easy to shoot, and does not wear you out

Is the gun of my dreams out there?

Or not?

Thanks for your guidance!

Sadly, these dont go together often with a .45. :P

You may look at the Sig 220 carry. Its 8+1 in a single stack. The grip is just barely shorter than the full size but it does hide well.

You might want to be a little more specific. I consider a P14 small enough to carry.

what this coming from a guy that wants a G-30

He wanted options, I gave him another SA/DA option. I had the .40 S&W version and it was a very nice weapon. I just want another Glock for me personally now.

What I'm really saying is I like em all! Other than Ravens and Hi Points

(just for Mike.357) I like all the guns. That's probably been my problem the last couple of years, I overspent a bit and now its biting me.

The Ruger P345 is a good DA/SA, but a little tougher to carry in the summer, and only holds 8 in the magazine. However, it shoots great and feels good. Mine feeds and ejects every round from the magazine about 85% of the time. Other times, I get a failure to feed or click and no bang.

My suggestion is....Man up and carry a full size gun. Compacts and Sub-Compacts are for girls and girly boys. :D

Just kiddin'. I know you said .45, but being the huge XD fan that I am, I'd suggest the XD40 Sub-Compact 3".

Capacity : 9+1 RDS; 12+1 RDS w/X-Tensionâ„¢

Barrel: 3" Steel, Melonite, Fully Supported Ramp

Sights: Dovetail Front and Rear (Steel) 3 - Dot

Trigger pull: 5.5 - 7.7 lbs.

Frame: Black Polymer

Slide: Forged Steel, Melonite Finish

Recoil System: Dual Spring with Full Length Guide rod

Length: 6.25"

Height: 4.75" w/ Compact Mag, 5.5" w/ Extended Mag

Weight w/ Empty Magazine: 26 ozs. w/ Compact Mag, 27 ozs. w/ Extended Mag

Again, I know you said .45, but I would suggest this for a compact carry.
