I was fishing one night this summer when we had a meteor shower. It was 2am and I was the only boat on the water and there was no wind at all. I turned out all the lights, sat back with a sandwich and cold drink and took in the sights for about an hour. I was on a very dark area of the river and the sky was clear. It was amazing. I saw a lot of quick flashes and one fireball that ran over half of the sky and left a trail that lasted a couple of seconds or so. After that, I loaded up and came home.

Crashed out at 9pm, just went out and didn't see any plus some clouds are moving in. Now I guess i'm up for an hour of TV.

Saw  one maybe 15+ years ago they called a meteor storm, it was the November shower, they were all bright with a few fireballs, about 10 to 15 per minute then.

Why are they always after midnight? 10pm is dark, and would work well.

They always have something to do with the direction the earth is flying through space around the sun and the rotation direction or something like that. It seems that everything is lined up just right at 2am for the best viewing. Anyway, still can't see them through the clouds however I did see (1), it was so-so.
