Out of state long gun sale

A little help needed. I have some interest from a MS resident on a long gun I am selling. I know I have to FFL the sale to an out of state resident. What is the easiest way? I plan on a ftf sale, is it easier to do in my state (TN) or me take it to an FFL in MS?

I thought you could do long gun FTF if the state was adjacent without FFL.

Might have thought so but that's not what the Feds say. You could but from an FFL a long gun out of state but not a handgun. Personal transfers have to go to FFL.

By federal law, all firearm transfers between residents of different states must go through FFL with background check, save for inheritance. Period.

An FFL in any state may sell or transfer a rifle or shotgun to a resident of any other state. In all cases, handguns and "other firearms" (receivers, lowers, etc) can only be received in the state of the recipient.

What's in the back of your mind there is that there are a handful of states that only allow FFLs to sell long guns to residents of certain adjoining states. Further, an FFL in any state must not sell a firearm to a resident of a state in which that type or configuration of the firearm is unlawful.
