  1. simple enough to try a choreboy copper pad wrapped on a cleaning brush to see if it helps if the problem is lead build up.
  2. Problem with the 5.7 is being able to hear after having to shoot it in a SD situation
  3. Read a story of an officer who got in a shootout and hit the BG multiple times with .45. Was down to his last few rounds before the guy finally expired. After that he went to the 9mm because of the extra round count. Basically carries 200 + rounds.
  4. I have done the same with shotgun chambers, but used 000 steel wool on a bore brush. I would think the same could be done on a cylinder and then finish with the Flitz.
  5. tyranny is only one election away.......
  6. Try Knoxville Gun Range
  7. Avoid extremes of temperature, and high humidity and ammo will last a life-time. Add good storage container such as ammo cans with a little desiccant and the grandkids can enjoy ammo ( hope so .....I've loaded more than I will shoot )
  8. You don't get out much........it happens with all guns, but some less frequently than others.
  9. An obvious situation of "poor victim selection".
  10. Have seen them for years around Wilson County. Also around E. TN for at least 20 yrs.
  11. So a small piece of this earth which you temporarily are the caretaker of is worth harming, maiming or killing someone over because they walked on it? I am not condoning the trespasser, but there are legal means to address it. Let's say you confront this individual and the crazy SOB shoots you, was it worth it?
  12. Assuming..........they were armed. I am assuming they didn't present the gun until they were shot at by victim. Either changes the position. Maybe simply a drug deal gone bad. Maybe bad guys shot back in self defense. Details. Details
  13. I appreciate the sanctity of property and that trespassing is wrong. However that is no an excuse to harm or maim someone.
  14. I know what "is right" with most of us, but the imminent threat had left/retreated and as I understand the story gunplay wasn't involved until the victim pulled a gun after-the-fact. It was no longer self-defense but a retaliatory act by the victim. Just sayin' it makes for a weak self-defense scenario. Will come down to the DA. If the bad guy had been shot a substantial distance from the victims, may be expensive to be found not guilty. Again, not sayin' it is right, just the way the legal system can spin.
  15. And it looks like their new ads are going to give Hardee's a run for their money on being my favorites....
  16. Magazine loaded and in a mag holster is OK......essentially the ammo cannot be exposed Above......have seen several magazine articles state - incorrectly - to use TSA lock on firearm box. It is OK on the luggage the locked firearm box may be in. I have my cell phone # on the outside of the firearm box should any questions arise.
  17. Good info worth repeating.....
  18. Hornady site lists the 115 gr HAP at .355. Berry's listed at .356 . Like most, go the the LEE FCD and most problems solved.
  19. I will only speak to my experience with multiple trips with Delta. Your signing of the affidavit is verification of an unloaded gun...no use to pull gun out and show to someone that has no knowledge of firearms. The orange affidavit is then placed on top of container. Ammo can be locked in same box with gun. Ammo should be in factory box, or can be in loaded mags covered by mag holster....not in gun of course. Ammo does not have to be in a locked box. Firearm box locked with owner in possession of keys or combo. This box can then be placed in larger suitcase with TSA locks. Nothing can be placed on the outside of container that would indicate firearm inside.
  20. Run your finger over crimp mouth and feel for a difference of the edge of the case mouth. The ones that don't go flush may need slightly more of a taper crimp.
  21. I don't believe we will ever see a perfect gun, but the LCP comes close for what IMO is a small, pocket, get-off-me gun for up-close personal distances. No sights needed, adrenaline pumped safe trigger pull, and minimal round capacity dictated by size. Is it pretty and high tech, no. But I don't see the advantages of the changes or increase in costs. My original LCP is more than adequate and with only minimal sight alignment quite accurate inside of 10 yds. But like all firearms, personal choice.
  22. You could chance letting your permit 'expire'....and reapply after Jan 1 for the lifetime permit at the new $200 rate. You still have 6 mos from expiration date to renew without having to take the class over............of course technically speaking, you have no permit for a couple of months. I would want to check just to make sure that would work with the DOS, but looks like it would.
  23. Did not have the first version. Held one about a month ago and the grip safety was 'iffy' at that time. However, my father-in-law got one and hence another chance to play with it. First off it was a bitch to reassemble. Maybe with a little practice I will learn how to hold my mouth just right and it will go easier. However.... to the range. A couple of times it failed to chamber a round after sticking the mag in. Once chambered, ran reliably and smoothly with a mix of bullet types/reloads and factory rounds. Locked back on empty mag, and shot very well at reasonable SD range with accuracy. No problems with grip safety activation this time. I don't like it as well as my Shield. Little big for a pocket gun. May be all right as a carry gun with decent holster. Certainly smooth lines and dehorned. I have read where after fired extensively it seems very dependable. I am not in a hurry to go buy one, but I do know where I can get one to play with occasionally. After a few hundred rounds will report back.
  24. really enjoy the S&W compact. good shooter, good for new shooters. Reliable, ease of cleaning. May be a little big for the pocket but doable.
