  1. yes, Lee molds.  But I think I will take RED up on his soot offer.  I trust that it is 'certified' soot and has passed all EPA standards. :surrender:
  2. what is your favorite product to keep the casting mold from being 'sticky'.  Having some trouble getting the bullets to drop out of the molds freely.  Any favorite 'home brew'?
  3. haven't been there......but never seen it at the two indoor ranges I have been to.  Sounds like a poor design.  It is a gun range you know.
  4.   Yep, like polymer guns that require little to nothing.
  5. It is amazing that there are so many, old.......really old guns that still work when there was nothing but Hoppes and 3 in 1 oil. :usa:
  6. ' Well Sir, I had all the training because I knew a well-trained and qualified officer wouldn't be available until after all the smoke had cleared'.
  7. Here in TN you are not allowed to marry your sister either.......not sure that's an advantage or disadvantage on your list.   Welcome to TN.
  8. No.  If you are  becoming a resident of TN, you have 6mos to take the course for a carry permit.  That is, if you have a permit from a state TN honors.
  9.   Yeah,...........does the name "Zimmerman"  ring any bells ?!?
  10. Careful now.....don't be offending REAL snipe hunters.
  11. September issue of Guns and Ammo addresses this problem.  According to the articled all are running 24/7.  All are also investing and expanding operations.  My guess is that by spring there will be normal ammo supplies.  (I HOPE)
  12. Very good article in Sep 2013  Guns and Ammo.  The companies are running 24/7 making ammo and guns.  New companies are starting up; old ones expanding.  That is all GOOD.  More gun sells than ever.  Hopefully these people vote.  Several things came together to cause a decrease in availability and the only thing that the gov'mt can be blamed for is fueling the 'panic' buys of both guns and ammo.  More folks wanting guns = more ammo needed.  It is temporary and things are loosening up.  Hope the vultures who tried to gouge everyone get choked on their stockpile.  Like any investment, they will have to keep theirs long term or sell it for a loss eventually.
  13. Hard to do better than the 22/45.
  14. If this is such a terrible place to live.......why don't they just get the hell out of the country.  They are free to go at any time.  We sure have enough coming in, legally and illegally to take their place.
  15. IF you can find shot for less than $30 / 25#, then you can make a go of it.  I've loaded tens of thousands through the years to keep the family appetite in check for sporting clays.  If you can find Nobel, Rio, AA, Gun Club, or Rem STS around the $6 mark, then that is the way to go.  Shot shell reloading is a far cry from the days of reloading for $2 a box.  Don't see how anyone can make out with the component situation the way it is........let alone figure in the purchase of a good reloader, time, etc.
  16. Tactical Advantage, which is ran by Eric Matson at Coal Creek Armory, offers some very good training at a very reasonable cost.  I have trained with several different companies, more than a dozen different instructors, and IMO Eric more than holds his own in offering very good courses.  I would encourage anyone that carries routinely to seek training, and if near the Knoxville area Eric is a very good resource.
  17. I'm also 'agin' driving while drinking...same as guns. And the same applies for narcotic medications, just like drinking, whether carrying or driving. If something happens, just one more thing to complicate your unfortunate event.
  18. I think most pumps will fire the same way.  At least my Model 12 and Model 1200 will.
  19. Not every gunfighter is a teacher, and vice versa.  There are many students, some which study briefly, others which 'major' in the subject, studying many events, interviewing victims and survivors.  My point is that one does not necessarily have to be involved in an incident of gunfighting to be knowledgeable and thus an 'excellent' teacher.  I would say there a very few who have been in multiple gunfights with the exception of the battlefield.  Many coaches can coach those much more talented than they themselves are.  And not all survivors of a firefight are experts or teachers.  Some may be purely lucky.  Tactics and self defense are not an exact science; experience combined with education make it more of an art and an ongoing educational process.....and I'm sure we all would welcome a little luck if and when the time comes.  With that said, I appreciate the article and sounds like good advice.
  20. NFL players want to be gangstras.....and the gangstras want to be NFL players.  Throw them all together and expand the league.
  21. My stock weapons are 9mm, 45ACP, .223, and 12ga. Have various others, but these are the ones I carry a lot of ammo for.
  22. Yep, up North seen a lot of bear droppings.....most of it had little bells and shards of bear spray cans in it....
  23. For the money the 225 lumen gander mountain light is hard to beat  On sale about $50
  24. Has anyone used the Sound Gear Ear Protection by LaPierre? It is a little pricey, but I found it at Brownells for $399, vs. reg $599. It does have a 30 day return, as well as Brownells unlimited return policy. Reviews seem good, but just wondered if anyone had any first hand experience.
  25. Well there you have it...........that's why there are blondes, brunettes, and redheads.
