I dont know, they all look alike to me
-
Looks even better when you fill it up.
-
Good thing you got two, so when half of them fail to fire you still end up with one good bucket.

I agree with you when it comes to the big ticket stuff. But nobody is going broke buying $15-$20 boxes of 22 ammo. I believe it is to a point now where no matter how much 22 ammo could be produced and sold at the traditional 3-5 cents a round it had been, supply would not catch up to demand for years. The only thing that will stop people (me included) from buying it is pricing high enough where we lose interest in it for a while, then the supply will catch back and pricing can return to somewhat normal, or at least acceptible level when it comes to 22 ammo.
-
Say what you want about the "price gouging" retailers, but in the end they are the ones who will end this ammo shortage. We, the ammo buying public (me included) certainly aren't doing anything to help the situation. The only way people will stop buying is to put the price up high enough where people wont buy it. It is a simple economic theory of supply and demand.

Nice stash of 22, but when it comes to 22 that aint much.
-
Kinda looks like Halls, dont think it is East Towne.
-
I'd say if it spends more than a day on the shelf things may be getting back to normal. However I wouldn't count on it. As soon as word gets out it will be long gone. Things wont be getting back to normal until everybody is comfortable leaving ammo on the shelf for the next guy and I dont see that happening any time soon. Honestly how long do think it will be before you can reasonably expect to walk into a Wal-Mart and buy ammo on an as needed basis.

Using vinegar in home brew gun cleaning
pcrc11 replied to Dustbuster's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I used it white vinegar the other day to strip the bluing off of a pistol i wanted to reblue. Let it soak for about an hour and it came out bare steel. I would be VERY VERY CAREFUL. -
So let me ask this question. Who are the stupid ones, the people who are selling it for $100 a box or those of us who have a bunch of 500ct boxes on hand who aren't selling it for $100 a box. I'll bet you when the price comes back down and it is readily available again there are going to be a bunch of us (me included) who say why the hell didn't I sell all this ammo when I could have doubled, tripled or quadrupled my money.

Expo Center gun show this Sat, Sun March 2-3. Knoxville.
pcrc11 replied to LowBb's topic in Events and Gatherings
Show may not to be too crowded if word gets out David wont be there. -
Heres mine in 44mag. This one wont be leaving my collection either.

Big difference between JG's Chineese MilSurp C&R elgible SKS and these run of the mill Norinco imports they had. An argument can be made the JG ones are more collectible becuase they actually have some battle history and are C&R elgible making them available to more ready buyers. Personally I wouldn't buy one and didnt when they were for sale 3-4 months back at $279.

I could not bid live either. I just had to stay three or four auctions ahead, place my max bid and hope for the best. I was really glad I got the Spanish Mauser sporter as that was the one I really wanted especially after inspecting it in person at the auction. I placed a max bid of 200 and ended up getting it for 150. The real deal I got was the lot of two parts pistols. Nobody had bid on it online and it was coming up. I placed a $10 bid. I ended up winning but really did not know what to expect, picture just showed a small revolver and palm pistol. The revolver is a 22 Rohm and ispretty far gone. Much to my surprise the palm pistol I was expecting a Raven or Jennings. It turned out to be an Astra Firecat. I have disassembled it and everything on it works perfectly. It looked bad because grips and mag were missing. I bought a set of grips last night on ebay for $10 and mags are avaliable for $20-30. I will end up with less than $50 in the gun and looks like they bring $200-250 from research I have done. As a side note about the SKS's. They must of had 50 of them go through. From what I saw they were mostly Norinco's all had the wrong mags and most were missing the bayonets. I dont believe I saw one sell for less then $325 and most were 350-400. Add the extra 20% and that puts them in the $400-475 range. Now my question is if you took the same 50 SKS to the gun show that same weekend and tried to sell them for even $300 apiece, how many of them do you think you would have sold? Last Norinco I sold 6 months ago I had to beg to get a $275 trade. Have they gone up that much in the past two months as well?

UPDATE. Just got email from them I can pick them up Monday between 9-5. No mention of them having to be shipped.
-
They better let me pick them up. I ended up with 6 good projects that I won online. I spent the first two hours at the auction in person and then decided to leave. Started to follow it online and ended up winning 6 items, all future project guns. Mauser sporter, Remington 33, CVA Bp, BB gun and two pistol frames. I cant see any reason why they cant be picked up, they said at beggining of auction that TICS may be slow today and you could come back Monday to pick up your guns if you did not want to wait, what would be the difference?

Mosin M38's at Classic Firearms

FWIW I believe Classic Arms has changed hands recently and they have been getting a lot more favorable reviews in the past few months on the different surplus gun forums. -
an Interesting Mosin find 1943 Hex
pcrc11 replied to vontar's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The receiver isnt stamped 1943, the barrel is. Look under the tang to see when receiver was made. It has been rebarreled but is still an uncommon find. Congrats. -
Would help you out if cosmetic but would not feel comfortable being pressures would be involved. I know my limits when it comes to liability issues.
-
Does it have to be tigged for any particular reason? I can mig weld it for you if it is just cosmetic.

When we decided to move to TN from FL seven years ago we had our hearts set on Cookeville. We had vacationed on Dale Hollow a few times and loved the Cookeville area. After talking to real estate agent he advised us that if we needed to make a living and educate our children to live around a bigger city, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville. We decided on Knoxville Area and love it. After living here and making my own obsevations I would definately agree with the agent. Only thing that sucks about East Tn is the deer hunting.

Am going to be putting mine together in the next couple of weeks. Have got my tools built. Just waiting to finish up my 80% reciever. Modified a pair of bolt cutters and made a jig for the triggerguard rivets.
